New Mexico Lawmakers reacting after U.S. soldiers were killed after an Iranian attack in Jordan. Here are some of the statements sent to KOAT or posted on their social media platforms.
Republican Party of New Mexico sending us this statement writing:
“We mourn the U.S. service members killed in the recent Iranian attack in Jordan. These soldiers represent the very best America has to offer, and it is because of their heroism that Americans are able to live free and safely. No matter how much Democrats try to politicize this, President Trump’s actions in Iran have made our country safer from a terrorist regime that has inflicted death and carnage on millions of innocent people around the world, including Americans.”
U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich wrote on his “X” page writing:
“Horrible news. My thoughts are with the families of the two service members killed in this attack, the service member who remains missing, and all those who were injured.”
U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan also wrote on his page writing:
“Devastating news today. My prayers are with the families and loved ones of the two American service members killed in Jordan, and with the service member who remains missing.”
U.S. House Representative Melanie Stansbury writing:
“Two more American service members’ lives have been lost in a war that never should have happened in the first place. It is long past due for my colleagues across the aisle to stand up and stop this war and end the violence!”

On Sunday, July 19, U.S. Central Command reported that a third U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action July 18.
