Ex-cop turned country star Frank Ray was a guest on Taste of Country Nights, where he played a new song off of his Good for the Soul EP called “Third Row George Strait,” and then revealed quite a heroic story to me about George Strait.
Ex-Cop Frank Ray Reveals He Once ‘Saved George Strait’s Life’
Even though Frank Ray was no longer a police officer, his police officer instincts kicked in one afternoon when he was playing a show with Strait.

“He’ll never know this, but I actually saved his life one time,” he tells us.
“It was at a music festival, and there was this crazed fan. We all knew George Strait was gonna come through this alley port and down this big ol’ runway, directly to the stage.”
He continues, “All of a sudden there’s like this ruckus going on at the top of this alley port door and you can see this guy like juking security guards. He is running full-force, left and right and they’re trying to get ahold of him.”
Ray had his beer in one hand, and he was standing next to his manager at the time. His manager asked him, “You see that, Frank?” To which he replied, saying “Yeah, I see it.'”
He then “took a sip of my beer and put it down, and as soon as this guy came through, I just rushed him, like bang! Straight Goldberg speared him, boom!
“He fell on the floor, I grabbed him, turned him around and went full cop instinct, held him down and security finally caught up, and they were able to cuff him and drag him out.”

Ray tried to play it down in the story, saying after that he just picked his beer back up and waited on the King to walk by him and head to the stage, but from the sounds of it, that fan could have really confronted Strait.
Did George Strait Know He Was About to Have a Fan Altercation?
Ray says as soon as he speared the man that was charging toward Strait and they got him dragged out, Strait walked right by and had no clue what had just happened.
“He’ll never know,” he states. “It was great, man, it was so cool!”

George Strait has sold his one-of-a-kind mansion in Texas, and it was actually a real deal. The country legend asked $6.9 million for his 7,925-square-foot home that includes three bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half-baths on a hilltop in a very exclusive area of San Antonio. The final selling price was not disclosed.
The house sits on 12.2 acres and includes a gourmet kitchen, separate his and her bathrooms and closets and 14 hand-sculpted masonry fireplaces. The main house is wired for surround sound throughout, and it also features outdoor living spaces including a patio with built-in grill, sink, icemaker and refrigerator. There’s also an infinity pool/spa and a sports court, a workout room with a private bathroom and sauna, and a walk-in safe room.
