Riley Green‘s story arc on Marshals caused quite a commotion onset.
His co-star Ash Santos tells People that after the big reveal about his character in the May 10 episode, some cast and crew were downright mad at showrunners.

Why Was the ‘Marshals’ Cast + Crew Upset About Riley Green?
Riley Green’s character Garrett died on Ep. 11 of Marshals, after being hospitalized for injuries sustained in a fire. That wasn’t a huge surprise, since he was always a guest actor booked only for a four-episode arc.
Still, Garrett’s death hit the cast and crew pretty hard.
“Our hair-and-makeup team especially. Those women loved him,” Santos tells People. “…We had people on our crew who were so upset with [showrunner] Spencer [Hudnut] for weeks when they got that episode.”
No wonder Green’s departure affected them so much: Santos says Green was nothing short of a gentleman to everyone on set.
“I mean, the day that he wrapped, he was flying out — he was performing in a show that night — and while he was getting in the car, he was already having flowers delivered for the hair-and-makeup team to say thank you,” she recalls.
How Did Riley Green React to His Marshals Character Being Killed Off?
Santos — whose character, Andrea Cruz, struck up a budding romance with Riley Green’s Garrett before his death — says that Green was bummed to hear about his character’s death, too.

“He joked, he was like, ‘Damn, I was really hoping I’d stick around longer,'” she recalls. “And we were like, ‘With your schedule? You’re always at some concert.'”
But Green’s been hinting at the idea of wanting to pursue more acting roles, and Santos said she was impressed by how his musical abilities translated to onscreen talent.
“It was easy for him, and it definitely showed onscreen. He has a natural ability,” she told People. “He’s just so fun.”
