Justin Moore Reveals He’s Sober After Tour Break

Date:

On Thursday (July 9), Justin Moore announced to fans that he’s newly sober.

The singer shared that news during a show in Knoxville, Ill., which was his first concert after a month-long break from touring. He also revealed that he has spent that month in rehab for alcohol addiction.

“I just got out of rehab for 30 days. This is my 31st day sober,” he told the crowd.

“And I’m gonna try to help as many people as I can from this point forward until my last days on earth,” Moore continued. “And hopefully set a much better example for my kiddos.”

Justin Moore got a roar of approval from the crowd after he announced his newfound sobriety, according to video posted by Whiskey Riff.

“I know there’s a sign over there that says ‘Welcome Back,’ because we’ve been off a while,” Moore said, referring to the month-long break he took from playing shows.

“My drinking got out of control,” he admitted.

“And I don’t say that to bring us down. We’re still gonna do drinking songs, don’t get me wrong,” he assured the crowd. “But I let down my band an my crew, and most importantly, God and my family.”

Moore said that he didn’t encounter legal trouble as part of his decision to quit drinking, but he “just became a complete dumba–.”

Now, he says, he wants to use his experience as a way to help others.

When Did Justin Moore Go to Rehab?

Justin Moore announced in early June that he was taking some time off the road to focus on his health. He didn’t specify at the time exactly how long he planned to be away. Nor did he say exactly what was wrong.

“This is the right decision for me and my family, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding and support,” the singer said.

It wasn’t until this week that Moore revealed that that health issue had to do with drinking, and that he use his time away from the road to undergo a rehab program.

Earlier this week, Moore announced his return to the stage with a video of him walking through a backstage area set to LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out.” The moment in the song when LL Cool J sings “Don’t call it a comeback,” a string of tour dates flashes across the screen.
