BLACK SABBATH, MÖTLEY CRÜE & GHOST Singles Are Coming To Tiny Vinyl

Date:

A new vinyl format is hitting shelves, and it’s exactly what it sounds like — tiny. Measuring just four inches across, Tiny Vinyl offers a pocket-sized way to enjoy your favorite artists without needing a special player. Each disc holds one song per side — about four minutes per side — and plays at 33 RPM on most manual turntables. Just turn off auto-stop and make sure your tonearm can reach near the center of the platter.

Each Tiny Vinyl weighs only 15 grams compared to the 140 grams of a standard LP. That means less raw material, less energy to produce, and lower environmental costs for shipping and storage. Even better, each record is made from 100% bio-attributed vinyl sourced from renewable materials, making Tiny Vinyl a more sustainable way to collect music.

“Being tiny makes a big difference,” the company says, noting that the format uses just 1/10th the material of a standard vinyl LP: “We’re serious about sustainability, and we’re always on the hunt for ways to minimize our environmental impact.

“Each Tiny Vinyl uses 100% bio-attributed vinyl, drastically reducing our use of fossil fuels. And at just 15g of material per record (compared to 140g for a standard LP) our tiny size significantly lowers the environmental costs it takes to produce, ship, and store each record in your collection. Being tiny makes a big difference.”

Heavy music fans are in for a treat with several Target-exclusive Tiny Vinyl releases already announced and honestly, I think I might buy some of ’em. Best case they sound cool, worst case at least they look cool. They are:

  • Black Sabbath – “Paranoid” / “The Wizard”
  • Mötley Crüe – “Home Sweet Home feat. Dolly Parton” / “Home Sweet Home”
  • Ghost – “Lachryma” / “Mary On A Cross”

Unlike novelty formats that require special equipment, Tiny Vinyl works on most standard manual turntables. However, some automatic players may not be compatible if they can’t disable auto-stop or if their tonearm doesn’t reach close enough to the center.

Check out the Target site here. Surely the Ghost ones will be the first to go, given their ravenous fanbase.
