– Manchester City are keeping tabs on Trent Alexander-Arnold amid uncertainty about the right-back’s future with Real Madrid, according to TEAMtalk. While there is frustration around how his debut season with Madrid has gone so far, starting just five LaLiga matches this season amid various injury problems, the 27-year-old is determined to fight for his place at the Bernabéu. City haven’t made a formal offer yet but are carefully assessing the situation, although a move for the England international would be expensive as he only signed a six-year contract in the summer following is free transfer from Liverpool.
– Chelsea want to reunite Cole Palmer with friend and Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, TEAMtalk reports. Reports emerged last week that Manchester-born Palmer is homesick, leading to links with Manchester United, but the 23-year-old won’t push for a move away from Stamford Bridge and will have his long-term situation assessed in the summer. While some could view Rogers as a potential replacement for Palmer, TEAMtalk reports that Chelsea want the pair to play together.
– Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is getting closer to joining Liverpool and the 21-year-old is keen to join the Reds on a five-year contract, according to Nicolo Schira. The England international has been linked with various clubs due to his impressive performances at Selhurst Park, most notably Manchester United.
– Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Stade Rennais centre-back Jérémy Jacquet for next season having activated their recall clause to bring Aaron Anselmino back from his loan at Borussia Dortmund, Fabrizio Romano reports. The Blues face competition from Liverpool and Bayern Munich to recruit the 20-year-old in the summer.
– Juventus are focusing their attention on Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. This comes with La Gazzetta also having reported that Juve director Giorgio Chiellini has written off any chance of Juventus bringing in Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri, who is also a target for Everton and Sevilla. Elsewhere, Nicolo Schira reports that Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta has already agreed personal terms for a four-year contract with the Bianconeri, although the Eagles want a permanent €35m departure while Juventus want a loan with an option to make the deal permanent that becomes an obligation if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Hundreds rescued from deadly ferry disaster in Philippines
A ferry with more than 350 people on board sank early Monday near an island in the southern Philippines. Rescuers have saved at least 316 passengers and retrieved 15 bodies, officials said.The M/V Trisha Kerstin 3, an inter-island cargo and passenger ferry, was sailing from the port city of Zamboanga to southern Jolo island in Sulu province with 332 passengers and 27 crew members when it apparently encountered technical problems and sank after midnight, coast guard officials said.The ferry sank in good weather about a nautical mile (nearly 2 kilometers) from the island village of Baluk-baluk in Basilan province, said coast guard Commander Romel Dua.“There was a coast guard safety officer on board and he was the first to call and alert us to deploy rescue vessels,” Dua said, adding that the safety officer survived.One of the rescued passengers, Mohamad Khan, said that the ferry abruptly tilted to one side and took on water, hurling people including him and his wife, who was holding their 6-month-old baby, into the sea in the darkness. He and his wife were rescued, but their baby drowned.“My wife lost hold of our baby and all of us got separated at sea,” a distraught Khan told a volunteer rescuer, Gamar Alih, who posted a video of Khan’s remarks on Facebook.As Khan narrated their ordeal, his wife wept.Alih, a village councilor from Zamboanga city, told The Associated Press that he volunteered to help in the search and rescue because some of his relatives were among the ferry passengers. Mark Tully, BBC correspondent known as the ‘voice of India,’ dies at 90
NEW DELHI — Mark Tully, a longtime BBC correspondent who was widely known as the “voice of India” for his reporting on the South Asian nation, has died, the broadcaster said. He was 90.
Tully died Sunday at a New Delhi hospital after a brief illness.
Born in India’s Kolkata city in 1935, Tully joined the BBC in 1965 and was appointed its New Delhi correspondent in 1971. He later served for more than two decades as the BBC’s bureau chief for South Asia.
Tully reported on some of India’s most consequential events, including the 1971 India-Pakistan war that led to the creation of Bangladesh, the siege of the Golden Temple in 1984, the 1991 assassination of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the 1992 demolition of the Babri mosque, which triggered nationwide riots.
Tully also reported from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Tully as “a towering voice of journalism.”
“His connect with India and the people of our nation was reflected in his works. His reporting and insights have left an enduring mark on public discourse,” Modi wrote on X.
Britain knighted Tully in 2002 for services to broadcasting and journalism. He also received two of India’s highest civilian honors, the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.
