Warm start to February across New Mexico

Warm start to February across New Mexico

THE WAY OF BEING PRODUCTIVE AROUND THE HOUSE OR AT WORK, SEEK MEDICAL HELP. WELL, IT IS A MILD START TO FEBRUARY SO FAR. HERE’S CHIEF METEOROLOGIST BYRON MORTON. THAT’S RIGHT. AND IF YOU LOOK OUTSIDE IN THE PAST HALF HOUR, YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS PRETTY INCREDIBLE CLOUD. THIS IS WHAT WE CALL A LENTICULAR CLOUD. LENTICULAR CLOUD PRETTY MUCH LOOKS LIKE A UFO. A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK, AND THEY LOOK UP AND THEY THINK, OH BOY, WE’RE BEING INVADED. BUT WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT YOU GET THE WIND GOING OVER THE MOUNTAINS THERE, AND IT CREATES A WAVE IN THE ATMOSPHERE. SO AS THE AIR RIDES UP, IT CREATES THESE LAYERS OF CONDENSATION OR CLOUDS THAT FORM THOSE KIND OF LAYERED LOOK TO CLOUDS OR SCALLOPED CLOUDS, I GUESS YOU COULD CALL IT, BUT PRETTY COOL STUFF. SHARE YOUR PICTURES TO OUR KOAT YOU LOCAL FACEBOOK PAGE. AND WE ALSO HAVE A SHRIEKING SNOW PACK. LOOK AT THIS. YOU KNOW NEW MEXICO LAST MONDAY, A LARGE CHUNK OF THE STATE SEEING THAT SNOW COVER, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTHEAST WHERE WE HAD THAT WINTER STORM THE WEEKEND BEFORE LAST MONDAY. BUT TODAY, YEAH, MUCH OF THAT IS GONE, RELEGATED TO MAINLY THE HIGHER TERRAIN IN THE MOUNTAINS. LIVE. LOOK FROM THE CREST CAM RIGHT NOW YOU SEE SOME THAT SNOW ON THE MOUNTAINS. THERE. DRY AND QUIET START TO FEBRUARY BREEZES AND A MIDWEEK COOL DOWN ABOUT IT. RAIN AND SNOW CHANCES MIGHT RETURN NEXT WEEK, BUT THAT’S THE WAY IT WAS LOOKING LAST WEEK AT THIS TIME FOR THIS WEEK AND DIDN’T PAN OUT, SO WE’LL HOPE FOR THE BEST. 61 ALBUQUERQUE. OUR AVERAGE HIGH TODAY IS 51 DEGREES. WE’RE TEN DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE. LOOK AT THE 60S FOR SANTA ROSA TOO. WE HAVE A DOWNSLOPING WIND IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE STATE, ANYWHERE FROM 15 TO 25MPH. MORIARTY IN SANTA ROSA, THAT DOWNSLOPING COMPRESSIONAL WIND WARMS THINGS UP. AND THAT’S WHY THE WARMER TEMPERATURES OUT TO THE EAST, BUT STILL VERY COLD ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST, INTO THE GREAT LAKES AND NORTHEASTERN PART OF THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW, TEENS AND 20S AND 30S, THAT’S WHERE THE COLD IS. EVEN FLORIDA HAD SOME SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND. JUST SOME REALLY COOL STUFF THERE. YOUR PLANNER FOR ALBUQUERQUE TONIGHT. GRAB A JACKET. TEMPERATURES DROP QUICKLY, WILL DIP INTO THE LOWER 30S BY TOMORROW MORNING. SO TEMPERATURES ACROSS NEW MEXICO GOING FROM THE MILD TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE COLD TEMPERATURES TOMORROW MORNING. 20S, 30S NORTH WITH 30S DOWN TO THE SOUTH. BUT A GOOD RECOVERY TOMORROW. ANOTHER NICE DAY ON YOUR TUESDAY WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S AND 60S FOR ALL PARTS OF NEW MEXICO. I THINK AS WE GET INTO LATER IN THE DAY ON TUESDAY, WE’LL STILL SEE SOME OF THOSE BREEZES ACROSS THE NORTH AND EASTERN PARTS OF NEW MEXICO. WE HAVE A FRONT THAT WILL SWEEP THROUGH THE EASTERN PART OF THE STATE ON TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. THAT WILL CRANK UP SOME KANDY WINDS HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE EARLY IN THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY, AND MAKE FOR SOME BREEZY CONDITIONS ON WEDNESDAY. A LITTLE BIT COOLER, TOO. YOU SEE THAT 40S AND 50S NORTH WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S AND 60S DOWN TO THE SOUTH. IT’S A MINOR COOLDOWN AND IT’S VERY SHORT. WE’LL BE BACK TO THE 60S IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE STATE ON THURSDAY FRIDAY, EVEN WARMING UP STILL NEXT WEEK. LOOKING AHEAD, IT DOES LOOK LIKE WARMER THAN AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR ALL PARTS OF THE STATE. BUT THIS IS SOME GOOD NEWS. IF IT PANS OUT A 33 TO 50% CHANCE OF ABOVE AVERAGE RAIN AND SNOW. WE HOPE FOR THAT BECAUSE WE NEED THAT MOISTURE TO THE FOUR CORNERS, DURANGO. CHILE. GALLUP, GRANT COUNTY A QUIET STRETCH ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE UPCOMING WEEKEND WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SAME ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST. YEAH, A LITTLE COOL DOWN THERE ON WEDNESDAY, BUT NOT MUCH. AND THEN YOU’RE BACK TO THE 60S FOR THE END OF THE WEEK. MAYBE A SHOWER BY SUNDAY, IF WE’RE LUCKY, INTO THE SOUTHEAST WITH ALSO A 57 TOMORROW LOOKING AT A 58 IN ARTESIA. SO A LITTLE COOL DOWN COMPARED TO TODAY INTO WEDNESDAY. BUT IT REBOUNDS. LOOK AT THAT. NEAR 70 ON SATURDAY FOR ROSWELL NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO. SOME BREEZY TO WINDY WEATHER AT TIMES. RATON LAS VEGAS, MORIARTY AND SANTA ROSA. A LITTLE COOL DOWN ON WEDNESDAY, BUT IT’S BRIEF 40S ON WEDNESDAY, 60S THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO. SAME DEAL. COLD NIGHT, BUT YOU HAVE A GOOD RECOVERY IN THE AFTERNOON. 52 IN SANTA FE TOMORROW. COOLER FOR WEDNESDAY BUT MILD FOR THE WEEKEND AHEAD. RIGHT HERE IN THE METRO. BERNALILLO, RIO RANCHO, LOS LUNAS. AND AFTER A COLD START, WE’RE IN FOR A MILD DAY TOMORROW. 61 DEGREES. A LITTLE COOL DOWN THERE FOR WEDNESDAY WITH SOME BREEZES. AND THEN WE REBOUND FOR THE WEEKEND. HIGHS IN THE LOW TO MID 60S ABOVE AVERAGE. AND WE’LL WATCH FOR A CHANCE OF SHOWERS NEXT WEEK. KIND OF HOLDING OFF ON THAT CHANCE RIGHT NOW. BUT A REALLY NICE STRETCH FOR THIS FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY. HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY BY THE WAY. OR PRAIRIE DOG DAY. DISAPPOINTING FOR PEOPLE I THINK IN THE EAST. YEAH, SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER IS WHAT HE PREDICTED. HE’S ONLY ACCURATE, LIKE 38% OF THE TIME. VERY GOOD. IT’S LIKE BYRON’S MUCH MORE ACCURATE. I JUST CALLED YOU HAPPY, BYRON.

Kelly Clarkson Leaving Talk Show to Focus on Family

0

Kelly Clarkson is saying goodbye — but for all the right reasons.

The pop-country powerhouse announced on Monday (Feb. 2) that The Kelly Clarkson Show will end after its current seventh season.

And while the decision wasn’t easy, Clarkson says it’s what her family needs right now.

“This season will be my last hosting TKCS,” the “Keeping Score” singer shared in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.

That next chapter follows a deeply emotional few years for the American Idol alum. In August 2025, Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, passed away after a private battle with cancer.

The former couple shared two children — daughter River Rose (11) and son Remington (9).

Putting Family First

Since his passing, Clarkson has focused on staying present and grounded for her kids. She’s been open about taking time away from work — including postponing her Las Vegas residency — and has shared how quiet, everyday moments like bedtime snuggles have helped them all begin to heal.

In her sweet message, Clarkson thanked fans, her crew, NBC, and the guests and viewers who supported The Kelly Clarkson Show across its seven-season run.

“There have been so many amazing moments and shows… I am forever grateful and honored,” she wrote. “But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives.”

What Comes Next?

That said, she’s not stepping away from the spotlight completely.

Clarkson confirmed she’ll still make music, perform select shows, and appear on The Voice — where she’s set to return as a coach for Season 29.

She’ll join John Legend and Adam Levine for a newly revamped format, The Voice: Battle of Champions, marking the first time the coaching panel will feature only past winners.

But for Clarkson, this move is less about stepping down and more about showing up — for her kids.

The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered in September 2019 and quickly became a daytime favorite thanks to Clarkson’s powerhouse vocals, vulnerability, and humor.

After four seasons filmed in Los Angeles, production moved to New York City in 2023 — a change Clarkson has said helped her find a better rhythm for her family.

This isn’t a goodbye — just a new season of life.

Kelly Clarkson’s Body Transformation in 31 Pictures

More important than these 31 pictures of Kelly Clarkson‘s stunning weight loss journey are the details of how and why she gained and lost the weight.

The singer has dealt with serious medical conditions since 2006. Add two kids, the stress of life, career and divorce and getting older — yeah, we totally get how she gained a few pounds.

In 2025, she’s as fit as she’s ever been, and that’s because she began to take her doctor’s advice seriously. Medicine helped, but it’s not what you think.

2026 WM Phoenix Open odds, predictions, field, tee times: PGA golf picks from proven model

0

One of the top events on the PGA Tour tees off on Thursday as the 2026 WM Phoenix Open unfolds at TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course). Known for its raucous crowds, the WM Phoenix Open usually draws a great field, and this year is no exception. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Hideki Matsuyama are among the players teeing it up. They’ll be joined by Brooks Koepka, who is playing his second event since rejoining the PGA Tour last week at the Farmers Insurance Open.

The latest 2026 WM Phoenix Open odds list Scheffler as the +230 favorite (risk $100 to win $230), followed by Schauffele at +1700. Si Woo Kim and Cameron Young are at +2500. Koepka, who finished T56 last week, is +4500 this week. Before locking in any 2026 WM Phoenix Open picks, or making any PGA DFS picks on sites like FanDuel or DraftKings, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, simulated every PGA Tour event 10,000 times and reveals golf betting picks that have a history of being extremely profitable.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 16 majors entering the weekend, including the 2025 Masters — its fourth Masters in a row — as well as this year’s PGA Championship and Open Championship. Anyone who has followed its sports betting picks could have seen massive returns on betting sites

New users can also target the DraftKings promo code, which offers $300 in bonus bets if your bet wins:

Now that the 2026 WM Phoenix Open field is locked in, the model simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard

2026 WM Phoenix Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the WM Phoenix Open 2026: Si Woo Kim, who is one of the favorites, stumbles and barely cracks the top 10. He’s a golfer to fade this week. The 30-year-old is off to a fast start this season, finishing T11 at the Sony Open, T6 at The American Express and T2 at the Farmers Insurance Open. This event has been a real struggle for him, however, as he’s missed three of thee past five WM Phoenix Open cuts and hasn’t finished better than 50th since 2022. See who else to fade here

Another surprise: The model is extremely high on Ben Griffin this week. He has only played this event twice, but he made the cut both times and finished 36th last year and 28th in 2024. Both times he shot above 70 in the first round, but rallied over the weekend, so if he can get off to a fast start at TPC Scottsdale this week, he’ll have a chance to be in the mix on Sunday. See who else to pick here

New users can also check out the latest FanDuel promo code and get $200 in bonus bets at FanDuel if your $5 bet wins:

How to make 2026 WM Phoenix Open picks

The model is also targeting three other longshots of +3000 or longer as top-10 contenders. You can only see the model’s picks here

U.K. says sightings of “rogue drones” near military bases doubled last year amid tension with Russia

0

The U.K. government wants to give military personnel new powers to shoot down unidentified drones near British bases, citing a doubling of reported drone incidents around defense installations last year as European countries accused Russia of menacing NATO nations with “hybrid warfare.”

“In 2025, there were 266 reported Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle incidents ear Defense sites, a rise from the 126 incidents reported in 2024,” the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement Monday announcing proposed changes to U.K. laws. Current laws require troops to call local police when a suspected illegal drone is spotted near a base.

“The doubling of rogue drones near military sites in the U.K. in the last year underlines the increasing and changing nature of the threats we face,” British Defense Secretary John Healey said in the statement. “Through the Armed Forces Bill, we’re giving our military greater powers to take out and shoot down threatening drones near bases. And stepping up investment in counter-drone technology to keep Britain secure at home and strong abroad.”

According to the ministry, the new legislation will give “authorized personnel” the “power to take out drones deemed to be posing a threat to any Defense site without the need for assistance from police,” including aerial, sea and “land drones.”

Drones of all kinds — land, sea and air — have become vital tools for both sides amid Russia’s ongoing, full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over the last year, however, European NATO nations have reported unidentified drones flying close to military bases and civilian infrastructure many hundreds of miles from Ukraine, forcing the closure of airports on at least a couple of occasions.

While the U.K. defense ministry didn’t cite any specific foreign threat in its statement Monday, airspace violations by mysterious aircraft were reported in about half a dozen other European nations last year, including Lithuania, which called it part of escalating Russian “hybrid warfare” in retaliation for Europe’s backing of Ukraine.

Moscow denies being behind airspace violations in Europe, dismissing the reports as “Russiaphobia.”

While dealing with incursions around its own bases, Britain has also taken an active role in helping other NATO nations respond to the incidents, including by sending specialized anti-drone equipment and personnel to Belgium in November after a spate of sightings near airports and military bases there.

Belgium’s main international airport in Brussels, and one of Europe’s biggest cargo airports, near the city of Liege, were forced to close temporarily at the time because of drone incursions. Before that, authorities reported a series of unidentified drone flights near a military base in Belgium where U.S. nuclear weapons are stored.

A couple months earlier, Denmark’s second largest airport was forced to halt flights for the same reason, and there were drone sightings near NATO military bases in the country, too.

The British military noted Monday that the current government had “quadrupled its spending on Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems” since taking office a year and a half ago, “allocating over £200 million [$274 million] this year alone, reflecting the priority of autonomy and counter-drone technology as a key deliverable.”

The ministry said the investments included new drones deployed to guard military bases, advanced video surveillance and “integrated threat monitoring systems to strengthen base security.”

British officials announced last spring a successful field test of a new type of weapon designed specifically to counter a drone “swarm attack,” in which multiple drones are launched in coordination to overwhelm defenses.

In a statement last April, the British government said soldiers had “successfully tracked, targeted and defeated swarms of drones” for the first time using “a new directed energy weapon developed in the U.K.”

The “RapidDestroyer,” a Radiofrequency Directed Energy Weapon (RF DEW), was developed by a consortium led by the British arm of French defense giant Thales. The test took place at a military weapons range in Wales, “and was the largest counter-drone swarm exercise the British Army have conducted to date,” according to the government.

OMNIUM GATHERUM Vocalist Diagnosed With Lymphoma, Live Fill-In Vocalist Announced

0

Omnium Gatherum have announced a major lineup update ahead of their upcoming European tour, revealing that frontman Jukka Pelkonen will be unable to participate after being diagnosed with lymphoma.

In a heartfelt message shared with fans, Jukka explained that the diagnosis requires his “full attention,” forcing him to step away from touring duties for the time being. “This is because I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. And now this serious situation requires my full attention,” he wrote, addressing the band’s community directly.

Despite the setback, Jukka was quick to reassure fans that the band’s momentum remains unbroken. “But worry not. OG is a train which is not easily stopped,” he said, emphasizing that after “careful dialogue and consideration” with his bandmates, the group has chosen to move forward with the tour in full.

To ensure the shows go on, Omnium Gatherum have enlisted Henry Hämäläinen, known for his work with Shade Empire and Halysis, to take over vocal duties for the tour. Jukka described Hämäläinen as “a talented individual… an experienced singer and a frontman,” adding, “We think he is more than suitable to headbang with OG on this tour.”

Hämäläinen also shared a message with fans, expressing both empathy and gratitude. “While I’m truly saddened by Jukka having to step away from this tour, I’m extremely honored to be called upon in the band’s time of need,” he said. “The trust shown by the whole band – and especially Jukka himself – means a lot to me.”

As a silver lining, the band confirmed that the European tour will go ahead as planned, with no dates canceled. “The tour is still happening in its entirety and we’ll make sure it’s going to be one hell of a ride!” the statement continued. “Even with this setback, the spirit of OG is strong, so see you all at the shows!”

Fans have already begun rallying around Jukka with messages of support, while welcoming Hämäläinen into the fold for what promises to be a powerful and emotionally charged run of dates.

NFL to look into Giants co-owner Tisch’s Epstein files connection

0

The NFL said Monday that it is aware emails released by the Justice Department on Friday show that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein connected New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch with numerous women and that it will look into the matter.

“The league is aware of the reports and Steve’s response. Our office will look into the matter to understand the facts,” the NFL said in a statement.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked Monday if Tisch could be subject to discipline from the league.

“You may be getting ahead of yourself on the second part,” he said regarding the question on discipline. “We are going to look at all the facts. We are going to look at the context of those and try to understand that, we will look at how that falls under the policy. But let’s get the facts first.”

Asked to clarify if the NFL was opening an investigation, Goodell said the league needed to gather the facts first before determining that step.

“I don’t even know the status of all the release. I know that 3 million documents came out last week. Listen, we’ll continue to follow any of the facts that come up and determine if we open an investigation based on those facts,” he said.

Goodell acknowledged he was concerned with how the scope of that story reflects on the league but said, “that’s why we have a personal conduct policy and why we will look into the facts.”

Tisch’s name appears at least 440 times among the more than 3 million documents released. According to documents included in the broader release of Epstein-related files, most of Tisch’s correspondence with Epstein appears to be from about 2013.

“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy, and investments,” Tisch said of Epstein in a statement Friday. “I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”

The NFL has fined owners in the past even if it finds that no illegal activity occurred.

“Everyone who is part of the league must refrain from ‘conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in’ the NFL,” the league’s personal conduct policy reads. “It is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime in a court of law. We are all held to a higher standard and must conduct ourselves in a way that is responsible, promotes the values of the NFL, and is lawful.”

The policy also notes that, “Ownership and club or league management have traditionally been held to a higher standard and will be subject to more significant discipline when violations of the Personal Conduct Policy occur.”

Former Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders owners Jerry Richardson and Dan Snyder were both fined by the NFL after investigations into workplace misconduct. Richardson was fined $2.75 million and Snyder was fined $60 million by the league.

Tisch, 76, is chairman, co-owner and vice president of the Giants and has produced dozens of Hollywood films, including “Forrest Gump” and “Risky Business.”

Epstein, a wealthy businessman, was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. While awaiting trial, he was found dead in his jail cell on Aug. 10, 2019. The coroner ruled his death a suicide. Epstein faced accusations of sexually abusing underage girls. In 2008, Epstein was charged with soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida and became a registered sex offender. He served 13 months of an 18-month prison sentence.

Epstein was well-known for his connections with politicians, celebrities and business executives. The Brooklyn, New York, native started his career as a financier at Bear Stearns. He later set up business operations in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Epstein bought an adjacent 72-acre island called Little St. James for just shy of $8 million in 1998, and that was where he allegedly operated his sex-trafficking activities at what is known as Epstein Island.

ESPN’s Kalyn Kahler, Dan Wetzel and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
