The matchup for Super Bowl LX is set, with the New England Patriots taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Feb. 8. For the first time in the history of The Big Game, each team ranks in the top four in both scoring offense and scoring defense, providing a balanced Super Bowl 60 matchup. New England (14-3) went on the road to defeat Denver, 10-7, in the AFC Championship Game, while Seattle (14-3) held off the Rams, 31-27, to claim the NFC Title Game. The 2026 Super Bowl is a rematch from 11 years ago when the Pats prevailed 28-24 to win Super Bowl XLIX. New England quarterback Drake Maye didn’t practice on Friday due to an illness.
Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The Seahawks are 11-9 all-time versus New England. Seattle is the 4.5-point favorite in the latest Seahawks vs. Patriots odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points is 45.5, with the Over slightly favored at -112 and the Under a -108. Why the Patriots can cover
The Pats shook off talk about their weak strength of schedule by defeating three playoff teams that had 11-plus wins in the regular season. They enter Super Bowl LX with a 16-1 record over their last 17 games, which is not a record that even Seattle can measure up to. New England has incredible balance, ranking second in points scored and fourth in points allowed, with the offense specifically standing out. Drake Maye combines both efficiency with a big-play ability as he leads the league in both completion percentage and yards per pass attempt. Meanwhile, the defense is playing its best entering Super Bowl Sunday as New England has given up one or fewer touchdowns in each of its last five games. See which team to back at SportsLine.
Why the Seahawks can cover
It’s hard to find any holes with Seattle, including in regard to the spread, as it has both the most covers and the best cover percentage of the regular plus postseason. The Seahawks are the only NFL team to rank in the top three in both scoring offense and scoring defense, and just five teams had more takeaways in the regular season. Mike Macdonald’s crew also boasts top-10 rankings on both the ground and thru the air, but the defense is the star of this team. Seattle leads the NFL in points allowed, third-down defense, yards per rush allowed and yards per pass attempt allowed while ranking second in yards per play given up and rushing touchdowns allowed. No. 1 scoring defenses, like what Seattle has, also have a great history in this game, with a 14-4 all-time Super Bowl record. See which team to back at SportsLine.
How to make Seahawks vs. Patriots picks
SportsLine’s model has simulated Patriots vs. Seahawks 10,000 times and is going Under on the total, projecting 44 combined points. It also says one side of the spread is the better value. You can only get the pick at SportsLine.
So who wins Seahawks vs. Patriots, and which side of the Super Bowl spread is the better value? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Patriots vs. Seahawks spread to jump on, all from the advanced model that is up well over $7,000 on its NFL picks since its inception, and find out.

Why China is building so many coal plants despite its solar and wind boom
BEIJING — Even as China’s expansion of solar and wind power raced ahead in 2025, the Asian giant opened many more coal power plants than it had in recent years — raising concern about whether the world’s largest emitter will reduce carbon emissions enough to limit climate change.
More than 50 large coal units — individual boiler and turbine sets with generating capacity of 1 gigawatt or more — were commissioned in 2025, up from fewer than 20 a year over the previous decade, a research report released Tuesday said. Depending on energy use, 1 gigawatt can power from several hundred thousand to more than 2 million homes.
Overall, China brought 78 gigawatts of new coal power capacity online, a sharp uptick from previous years, according to the joint report by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, which studies air pollution and its impacts, and Global Energy Monitor, which develops databases tracking energy trends.
“The scale of the buildout is staggering,” said report co-author Christine Shearer of Global Energy Monitor. “In 2025 alone, China commissioned more coal power capacity than India did over the entire past decade.”
At the same time, even larger additions of wind and solar capacity nudged down the share of coal in total power generation last year. Power from coal fell about 1% as growth in cleaner energy sources covered all the increase in electricity demand last year.
China added 315 gigawatts of solar capacity and 119 gigawatts of wind in 2025, according to statistics from the government’s National Energy Administration.
The massive growth in wind and solar begs the question: Why is China still building coal power plants and, by most analyses, way more than it actually needs?
The answer is complicated.
China is at an earlier development stage than the United States or Europe, so it needs more energy to keep growing. If more of the nation’s 1.4 billion people climb into the middle class, more will be able to afford air conditioners and washing machines.
Electricity is needed to keep China’s factories humming and to meet the high power demands of artificial intelligence, a government priority as it seeks to make the country a leader in technology.
Power shortages in parts of China in 2021 and 2022 reinforced longstanding concerns about energy security. Some factories temporarily halted production and one city imposed rolling blackouts.
The government’s response was to signal that it wanted more coal plants, leading to a surge in applications and permits for their construction.
That 2022-23 surge drove the big jump in capacity last year as the new units came on line, said Qi Qin, an analyst at the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air and another co-author of the report. “Once permits are issued, projects are difficult to reverse,” she said.
Construction started on 83 gigawatts of coal power last year, the report said, suggesting a large amount of new capacity may come online this year.
The government position is that coal provides a stable backup to sources such as wind and solar, which are affected by weather and the time of day. The shortages in 2022 resulted partly from a drought that hit hydropower, a major energy source in western China.
Coal should “play an important underpinning and balancing role” for years to come, the National Development and Reform Commission, the lead economic planning agency, said in guidance issued last year on making coal plants cleaner and more efficient.
The China Coal Transportation and Distribution Association, an industry group, said last week that coal-fired power would remain essential for power-system stability, even as other sources of energy replace it.
The risk of building so much coal-fired capacity is it could delay the transition to cleaner energy sources, Qin said. Political and financial pressure will keep the plants operating, leaving less room for other sources of power, she said.
The report urged China to accelerate retirement of aging and inefficient coal plants and commit in its next five-year plan, which will be approved in March, to ensuring that power-sector emissions do not increase between 2025 and 2030.
“Whether China’s coal power expansion ultimately translates into higher emissions will depend on … whether coal power’s role is genuinely constrained to backup and supporting rather than baseload generation,” Qin said.

THE EXPLOITED Vocalist WATTIE BUCHAN Collapses On Stage, Upcoming Shows Cancelled
The Exploited frontman Walter David “Wattie” Buchan collapsed onstage during the band’s performance on Saturday, January 31 at Schlachthof in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Buchan went down during the first song of the set, prompting immediate medical attention at the venue before he was transported to a local hospital. According to information provided on-site, the punk icon was responsive when taken for treatment.
On Sunday, February 1, The Exploited issued the following statement via social media: “As Wattie collapsed yesterday during the show in Wiesbaden/Germany, we have to cancel the upcoming gigs in Tallinn & Riga. We try to find new dates ASAP. Rostock and Berlin we announce as soon as we have more info.
“Wattie is in hospital right now for observation and checkups. He had a flu the last days and got dehydrated. That’s why he collapsed. Thanks and love to all the nice people who took care and immediately gave first aid. We will keep you updated!”
The incident marks the latest in a series of serious health scares for the 68-year-old punk legend, who has a long history of heart-related issues. In December 2022, Buchan was rushed to a hospital after collapsing onstage during a concert in Colombia, following a suspected heart attack. During that show, he reportedly began feeling unwell while performing “Army Life,” clutching his chest before dropping to his knees.
Earlier, in February 2014, Buchan suffered a heart attack while performing in Lisbon, Portugal, an event that led to him undergoing quadruple heart bypass surgery later that year. Additional shows were canceled in August 2018 and September 2019 due to ongoing health complications. At present, Wattie Buchan remains hospitalized for observation, with further tour updates expected once more information becomes available

TRENDING RUMORS
– Interest in Cristiano Ronaldo is already heating up in Europe and MLS, according to TEAMtalk. Ronaldo, 40, refused to play for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League side’s 1-0 win over Al Riyadh, as sources told ESPN he is unhappy about the way the league conducted the Karim Benzema transfer to Al Hilal. The Manchester Evening News has linked the Portugal international with a return to Manchester United, while several other big clubs in Europe are willing to reshape their sporting projects to sign him.
– Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to The Sun. Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of the Italy international and wants to pair him with Declan Rice in the Gunners’ midfield. The Gunners were even alerted to a possible move on deadline day, but it went nowhere. City boss Pep Guardiola is also a big fan of the 25-year-old and his Magpies teammate Tino Livramento, while Chelsea are monitoring Tonali. However, he and his wife are reported to be happy in the North East and he isn’t actively looking for an exit.
– Marcus Rashford has no intention of returning to Manchester United when his loan spell at Barcelona expires this summer, according to The Mirror. The Blaugrana have an option to permanently sign him for €30 million and the 28-year-old wants his future sorted before the 2026 World Cup begins. United’s interim head coach Michael Carrick would try to persuade the Red Devils academy graduate to stay if he becomes head coach full-time, but Rashford has already told Barca that he wants to stay at Camp Nou and would find another club instead of returning to Old Trafford if an agreement isn’t reached.
– Bayern Munich are in advanced talks to sign Charlotte FC and U.S. U20 winger Nimfasha Berchimas, as reported by The Athletic. The two clubs didn’t have to worry about Germany’s transfer deadline as they are working on a pre-agreed deal for the summer, as Berchimas only turns 18 at the end of this month so can’t be registered for a German club yet. There could be another U.S. youth international moving to Europe in the summer, as Tom Bogert reports that Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are showing a strong interest in 18-year-old Real Salt Lake striker Zavier Gozo.
– Juventus will make a move to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after the striker stayed on loan at Tottenham Hotspur this January, as reported by Calciomercato. Juve tried until the very end of the transfer window to bring back the 27-year-old, who also wanted a return to the Serie A giants, but Spurs insisted on keeping the France international as they couldn’t find an affordable alternative. It will take at least €50 million to sign him permanently, but Juve will need to seal a departure for Loïs Openda to meet that figure.
EXPERT TAKE
ESPN’s Mark Ogden looks at the future for Cristiano Ronaldo if he leaves Saudi Arabia.
Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his 41st birthday on Thursday, but his incredible longevity and goal-scoring ability is why there will be plenty of clubs willing to sign the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward if he seeks a move away from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
There will be clubs who want him, and clubs who can afford him. And there will also be the crucial factor of being able to offer Ronaldo the chance to break the 1,000 career goal mark — as he is now less then 50 goals away from that milestone.
So with all that considered, where could he go? Forget the speculation linking Ronaldo with a return to United for a third spell at Old Trafford. There is no good reason for that happen and it won’t. A move to MLS would be a serious option and open up the prospect of a “Last Dance” alongside Lionel Messi in the United States. If Ronaldo wants to move to the U.S., there is enough money in the country to make it happen, so don’t rule out the possibility of Ronaldo ending up in Los Angeles or New York.
But with Ronaldo earning a reported £177 million-a-year in Saudi Arabia, money will be perhaps the biggest factor, so any club, anywhere in the world, who will pay him a huge salary and give him a chance to hit 1,000 goals has a chance.
Only last week, Ronaldo’s former United and Portugal teammate Nani made a move to FC Aktobe in the Kazakhstan Premier League, and with the oil-rich country keen to boost its sporting profile, Ronaldo could even end up there. With him, almost anything is possible.

NASA delays Artemis II moon launch after issues during rehearsal

During the fueling process, which got underway at around 12:30 p.m. ET on Monday, mission managers twice paused proceedings to investigate leaking hydrogen fuel at the tail end of the rocket.
Despite eventually pressing on and conducting tests of the Orion spacecraft, which sits atop the rocket, the hydrogen leaks cropped up again in the final minutes of the simulated launch countdown.
NASA said that systems aboard the rocket that are designed to take over control of the booster in the final minutes before liftoff “automatically stopped the countdown due to a spike in the liquid hydrogen leak rate.”
Additionally, engineers will investigate several audio issues in communications channels used by ground teams that occurred during the wet dress rehearsal.
The four astronauts who were set to fly on the Artemis II flight — NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch and Victor Glover and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen — were set to arrive at Kennedy Space Center Tuesday afternoon. They had been in quarantine in Houston since Jan. 21 to protect against preflight exposure to germs.
But NASA said the astronauts will now be released from quarantine and will not travel to Florida as planned.
Instead, the crew will enter quarantine again roughly two weeks before the next targeted launch opportunity, according to the agency.
Artemis II will be the second trip to space for NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule, but the first time they carry humans.
The much-anticipated launch is expected to represent a crucial step toward realizing NASA’s goal of returning astronauts to the lunar surface.
A previous uncrewed Artemis I flight around the moon in 2022 was delayed six months because of hydrogen leaks identified during its first wet dress rehearsal.
With humans set to fly aboard the Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule for the first time, the stakes for the Artemis II flight are high.
“As always, safety remains our top priority, for our astronauts, our workforce, our systems, and the public,” Isaacman said on X, adding that NASA “will only launch when we believe we are ready to undertake this historic mission.”
13 Artists Who Deserve More!
If you’ve ever felt your favorite country artist doesn’t get enough attention and acclaim, we’ve got you! This list of 13 criminally underrated country stars includes legends, contemporary artists and more than a handful wrongly lumped into the “one-hit-wonder” category.
Why just 13?
We wanted your feedback before adding more. The criteria to be considered are clear, if a little loose. Anyone who’s been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame is disqualified, as is any artist (except one) who’s won a CMA Entertainer of the Year.

These hitmakers have a few accolades but in general just miss out on being included in conversations about the best from his / her / their decade.
For example, when we think of country women of the 1990s we think of Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood and all three deserve it. Mary Chapin Carpenter is mentioned later, if at all and that’s a shame because she has a Grammy record that literally no one else in country music has.
Six solo men, five solo women, one duo and one country group are included on this list of country’s most overlooked and underrated stars. In many cases, the artists are responsible for the lack of attention. Those that cultivate their own legacy inevitably get more post-mainstream attention while those that retreat to the woods end up forgotten.
