CORROSION OF CONFORMITY Set To Release Monumental Double Album In April, “Gimme Some Moore” Streaming Now

0

American metal stalwarts Corrosion of Conformity are gearing up to release their long-awaited double album, Good God / Baad Man, on April 3, 2026, via Nuclear Blast. The sprawling release marks a new chapter for the band following both tragedy and transformation in their storied career.

After the release of 2018’s No Cross No Crown, the classic lineup of Pepper Keenan, Woody Weatherman, Reed Mullin, and Mike Dean had cemented their legacy as heavy metal innovators, with a career spanning more than four decades from their Raleigh, NC punk roots in 1982. Landmark albums such as Eye for an Eye, Animosity, Blind, and Deliverance laid the foundation for a two-generation fanbase that spans punk, metal, and rock.

Tragedy struck in January 2020 with the passing of drummer Reed Mullin, followed by bassist Mike Dean amicably leaving the band. Corrosion of Conformity regrouped with Pepper Keenan and Woody Weatherman, hunkering down in Mississippi, drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Discharge, ZZ Top, Motörhead, Neil Young, and Black Sabbath. The result is a massive double album with a bold concept: Good God / Baad Man.

“As we went on, we had such a crazy plethora of songs, it was almost like two different directions,” Pepper Keenan says. “We knew we had to split it into two different albums… Good God leans toward the heavier/pissed end of the spectrum. Baad Man is more on the throwdown rock scope. Each album is its own tiny universe.”

Joining Keenan and Weatherman are drummer Stanton Moore, who previously played on 2005’s In the Arms of God, and bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf, known for his work with Down and Honky. Keenan emphasizes that many of the tracks were crafted in tribute to Mullin: “With a lot of these songs, we’re trying to make Reed Mullin proud. He was a badass, and a one-of-a-kind drummer. The stakes were high.”

The first single, “Gimme Some Moore,” features backing vocals from Ministry‘s Al Jourgensen and Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman, and channels the reckless energy of C.O.C.‘s teenage years. Keenan explains: “Me and Woody wanted to write a song as if we were 17 years old again… We even made a seven-inch for it.”

The seven-inch, released during their recent Mexico/South America tour, is a nostalgic punk throwback, complete with a black-and-white photo collage and a Fear cover on the flipside. The accompanying video for “Gimme Some Moore” was directed by Keenan and shot by Mike Holderbeast.

Produced by Grammy-winning Warren Riker (Fugees, Down, Cathedral) and featuring cover art by renowned New Orleans artist Scott Guion, Good God / Baad Man was recorded across Blak Shak Studios in Riffissippi, Dockside Studios in Louisiana, and Bee Gee Barry Gibb‘s home studio in Miami, Florida. Pre-orders are available here.

American heavy metal legends Corrosion of Conformity are returning to stages across North America this spring with a headlining tour featuring support from Whores and Crobot. The run kicks off April 7 in Atlanta and April 8 in Greensboro with Whores opening, before the band joins Clutch and JD Pinkus from April 9 through May 3, culminating in Asheville.

Following the Clutch dates, Corrosion of Conformity reconvenes with Whores in Toronto and Montreal, with Crobot joining the lineup for all remaining shows through May 16 in New Orleans. Fans can expect a mix of classic hits alongside material from the band’s forthcoming double album, set for release later this year via Nuclear Blast Records. Get your tickets here.

NBA Hater Report: Giannis Antetokounmpo needs to get off his loyalty high horse … unless he means it

0

As last week’s trade deadline grew closer it became increasingly clear that Giannis Antetokounmpo was not going to get moved. It was a smart move by the Bucks. They’ll have more, and probably better, offers to mull over this summer when most teams will have an extra draft pick in 2033 to trade.

Some teams, like the Miami Heat, will have two more trade-eligible draft picks than they had at the deadline. The Warriors have paths to as many as five. This is to say nothing of some of the most asset-rich teams that weren’t ready to do business now but might be after a potential first-round flameout.

And this is all assuming that a trade is inevitable, which most believe it is, but we’ll get to that.

For now, the Bucks still appear to be holding out hope that Giannis, who has spent the last few months trying to toe the line between getting traded without asking to be traded, will eventually walk into Jon Horst’s office and put an actual signature on this self-righteous loyalty talk he started spewing on social media shortly after the deadline passed.

This is very simple. If Giannis really feels this way, he can very easily put his money where his mouth is. He’s eligible to sign a four-year, $275 million extension with the Bucks next October. All he has to do is come out and publicly declare his full intention to do so and this will all be over.

But he never did that. And there’s is no indication that he’s going to do that. This whole charade has been a mission to get traded — or at least to seriously pursue the possibility — while retaining his coveted good-guy card, and when the former didn’t happen he immediately audibled to playing the latter.

For starters, this is a pretty thinly veiled dig at guys like Kevin Durant and LeBron James. It’s one thing for the Twitter gangsters to be firing off shots at some of greatest players of all time, effectively reducing their kind to musical-team mercenaries unworthy of true legendary status — but when a fellow great player, an actual peer, starts positioning himself as above all that, as though he occupies some higher place in history as a one-team man, he better at least back it up.

Had Giannis put that post out before the trade deadline, that would’ve meant something. Doing so after is a phony act, and it’s only serving to give the Bucks just enough false hope to go out and do something stupid. Haven’t they already gone into enough debt? They fired Adrian Griffin after a 30-13 start to the season. They’re financing Myles Turner’s $100 million deal by paying Damian Lillard another $113 million to play for someone else. They could very well end up with a high lottery pick this summer, and there are already reports that they might look to trade that, too. Pretty soon the Bucks are going to have sold everything short of their soul for a guy who was, who is, probably going to leave anyway.

Because here’s the deal: Giannis says he wants to win, and by that he means contend for a championship, and the Bucks don’t have a realistic path to doing that in the foreseeable future. So something has to give. Either Giannis backs up all this legends-stay-true talk by putting pen to paper, even if it costs him a realistic chance at a second title in his prime, or he drops the hometown-hero complex and cuts the cord.

Nobody is saying the latter is easy to do. There are people all over this world right now staying in relationships they don’t have the heart to end. Giannis is obviously a great person and player. Milwaukee means a lot to him and his family. It’s easy to say you shouldn’t care about what other people think, but everybody does. Nobody wants to be regarded as the bad guy, at least not by people they genuinely care about.

And there is such a thing as being honestly torn. When was the last time you made a life-altering decision with total clarity? Without any fear of regret? Without going back and forth in your head over and over? Giannis has told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “What I want deep down in my heart is I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career, and win here.” There’s no doubt he means that.

But it’s those last three words that are the hangup. If he really meant all these things he’s saying about loyalty, he wouldn’t feel the need to add that caveat onto the end of his statement. He would just saying I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career. Period. In which case this wouldn’t be a story.

But he won’t say that, and so it is a story. A story, mind you, that reportedly drove north of $20 million in bets on a prediction platform called Kalshi, in which Giannis was revealed to be a shareholder a day after the trade deadline.

While nobody is suggesting Giannis did anything intentionally dirty in terms of drumming up bets for Kalshi by playing both sides of a trade rumor, the potential for doing so certainly exists. At the very least, we should all be able to agree that it’s a bad look. Which is strange for a guy who has been so intent on looking good.

And that’s the irony of it all. Giannis is trying to do the right thing, whatever he ultimately deems that to be, but he has gone about it in the complete wrong way. You don’t get to comb through dating apps and then when nothing materializes promptly take your seat upon the high horse of monogamous virtue.

To be fair, we’re all hypocrites. Every one of us has said one thing and done another. Probably this week. That is what you call being a human being. Even in this case, we’re criticizing Giannis for not wanting to demand a trade when we kill guys like James Harden for … demanding trades.

The older I get the more I realize there are two sides to every story. Giannis has his side, and I have no doubt it is all well intentioned. But at some point, playing both sides of the fence isn’t helping anyone. It’s not helping a Bucks front office that is being fed just enough hope to keep going in debt, and it’s not keeping a clearly good guy from looking increasingly bad.

If Giannis means what he says about legends being the attractors and not the chasers, then put his name on it. Tell everyone the trade rumors are over. You intend to sign the extension. That would end this all. But if he keeps firing out “I’m not leaving!” tweets only to, ultimately, leave, that legacy he is trying so hard to protect might end up tarnished beyond repair.

At least 9 killed, dozens injured in shootings at British Columbia high school and home, officials say

0

At least nine people were killed and dozens more injured in shootings at a high school and residence in the northeast part of the province of British Columbia, Canadian police said Tuesday. The suspected shooter is dead, officials said.

The school shooting was first reported at 1:20 p.m. Pacific Time at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a news release.

Authorities responded to find six people dead inside the school, the RCMP said, and a seventh person died while being transported to a hospital.

Police also responded to a second crime scene at a residence that is believed to have been linked to the school shooting, where two more people were found dead, RCMP reported. The exact nature of their injuries were not immediately disclosed.

Two more people from the shooting at the school were airlifted to area hospitals with serious or life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspected shooter was found dead in the school from a “self-inflicted injury,” Canadian police said.

About 25 others were assessed at a local medical center for non-life-threatening injuries, the RCMP disclosed.

RCMP Superintendent Ken Floyd told reporters that investigators had identified a female suspect but would not release a name, and that the shooter’s motive remained unclear. He added that police are still investigating how the victims are connected to the shooter.

Police had earlier asked residents of the town of Tumbler Ridge, which has a population of about 2,400 people, to stay inside as additional police resources are being deployed to the area from neighboring areas. A community-wide alert was canceled at 5:45 p.m., and investigators believed there were no suspects outstanding in the incident, RCMP said.

The Peace River South School District initially said Tuesday that there was a “lockdown and secure and hold” at both the secondary school and the Tumbler Ridge Elementary school. It later said both schools would be closed through the rest of the week.

The provincial government website lists Tumbler Ridge Secondary School as having 175 students from Grades 7 to 12.

Larry Neufeld, the member of the legislature for Peace River South, told reporters at the legislature that an “excess” of resources, including RCMP and ambulance support, have been sent to the community. He said he didn’t want to release any more information over concerns that it might jeopardize the safety of the ongoing operation.

The office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he is suspending a planned trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Munich, Germany. He was set to announce a long-awaited defense industrial strategy in Halifax on Wednesday before heading to Europe for the Munich Security Conference.

“I am devastated by today’s horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.,” Carney said in a statement posted to social media. “My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence.”

David Eby, premier of British Columbia, wrote in his own social media post: “Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones. Government will ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days, as we all try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy.”

Why Lee Brice, ‘Country Nowadays’ Lyrics Caused Division [LISTEN]

0

You only need to look at the comments in a social media post promoting Lee Brice‘s new song “Country Nowadays” to see that not everyone embraced the sentiment.

The song isn’t out yet, but he’s shared a significant clip from his performance and noted that it’s available for pre-save.

Brice performed the song during Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show on Sunday night (Feb. 8).

ReviewLet’s Be Honest About Kid Rock’s Halftime Show

Full lyrics are below, but here is the part that got people heated:

“I just want to cut my grass, feed my dogs, wear my boots / Not turn the TV on, sit and watch the evening news / Be told if I tell my own daughter that little boys ain’t little girls / I’d be up the creek in hot water in this cancel-your ass-world.”

This was the only time one of the four performers touched on controversy, and Brice chose one country fans are very familiar with.

In 2022, Jason Aldean and Maren Morris engaged in a heated social media feud over gender identity. Country fans were reminded of the issue when Bad Bunny was thought to be preparing to perform at Super Bowl LX in a dress.

That never happened.

A BMI repertoire search shows Brice co-wrote “Country Nowadays” with Matt Alderman and Nate Kenyon. Early on the trio do seek and find nuance in conversations that are often boiled down to left-or-right politics.

The song’s narrator identifies as a conservative but also struggles with gun violence.

It gets a little risky when he tries to distance himself from bad news that so many others are living, but that’s not where he’s likely to get the most negative attention.

The chorus — It ain’t easy being country / In this country nowadays — begs for this response: try being country when you’re Black, or Hispanic, or even when you’re a woman.

While social media response to his TPUSA performance was mixed, response to his post that the song is coming out soon was resoundingly positive.

It’s not clear when he’ll drop “Country Nowadays” or if it will be released as an official single. His current radio single is clever love song called “Killed the Man.”

Lee Brice, “Country Nowadays” Lyrics:

“I just want to catch my fish, drive my truck, drink my beer / And not wake up to all this stuff I don’t want to hear / Like the same kind of gun I hunt with / Just killed another man / Only thing mine ever shot was / Deer from my deer stand.

I just want to cut my grass, feed my dogs, wear my boots / Not turn the TV on, sit and watch the evening news / Be told if I tell my own daughter that little boys ain’t little girls / I’d be up the creek in hot water in this cancel-your ass-world.

Chorus:
It ain’t easy being country / In this country nowadays / The direction the finger’s pointing / When everything goes up in flames / Saying I’m some right-wing devil / Because I was down South Jesus raised / It ain’t easy being country / In this country nowadays.

I just wanna cut my grass, watch my game, say my prayers / Not get a picture of a flag up in flames while people cheer / Oh the same one my grandaddy fought for / Stomped on like it’s trash / I’m a downright hateful monster / If I back the blue and badge.

Repeat Chorus

Because I have my morals / And a small-town point of view / You assume that you don’t like me means that I don’t like you too

It ain’t easy being country in this country nowadays / In this country nowadays.

20 Songs You Won’t Believe Turn 20 In 2026

One thing is clear when you look back at 2006 in country music: We were all very lucky. Several all-time great songs were released 20 years ago. These include signature songs for Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Carrie Underwood and more.

Quinn expects more of Daniels under center with new OC Blough

0

ASHBURN, Va. — Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn said the ability to unlock more from quarterback Jayden Daniels factored into the decision to change offensive coordinators after the season.

Quinn, speaking publicly about his staff changes for the first time, said the Commanders’ offense will look different under new coordinator David Blough, who takes over for Kliff Kingsbury. Washington mutually parted ways with Kingsbury two days after its 5-12 campaign ended.

With Blough, the Commanders want to run more plays under center to help the offense — and Daniels — evolve. Washington ran an NFL-low 192 plays with the quarterback under center over the past two seasons, which was 158 fewer than the team with the next fewest (Cincinnati Bengals). Daniels has attempted only 18 passes from under center across his first two campaigns.

“We’re going to try to feature every part of Jayden in the way that makes him unique and special,” Quinn said.

It helped that Blough served as the assistant quarterbacks coach the past two years and developed a rapport with Daniels, Quinn added.

“Jayden’s a big part of our thinking in all the things we do,” Quinn said. “He wasn’t a part of the staff selection, but he drives a lot of the thinking and how we can feature him and where it goes. Having the ability to connect with him, that’s certainly a big deal for us.

“It wasn’t the deciding factor, but it certainly was a good factor.”

Daniels was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, when he threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns while also rushing for 891 yards and six scores. He helped lead the Commanders to a 12-5 regular-season finish and a spot in the NFC Championship Game. In three postseason games — all on the road — Daniels threw for 822 yards and five touchdowns with one pick while rushing for 135 yards and a score.

This past season was marred by injuries, however. He played in seven games but finished only four because of injuries. He suffered a sprained knee, a hamstring injury and a dislocated left elbow. He did not play in the final four games after reinjuring the elbow in a Week 14 loss at the Minnesota Vikings. Daniels remained on the active roster, but Quinn announced he would not play for the rest of the season, with the team 3-10 at that point.

Blough said altering the Commanders’ style will help Daniels, especially playing under center. Washington ran no-huddle on 1,271 plays the past two seasons under Kingsbury; that was 810 more than any other team.

“There’s different ways to go about things,” Blough said, “and it’s something that I’m convicted about that with his skill set, his fundamentals, the things that we absolutely loved about him when he first got here, still rang true. [Under center] is something that we will like to implement with him and get him in that position.”

EU lawmakers agree on migration policies easing deportations, drawing criticism

0

BRUSSELS — European lawmakers voted Tuesday to approve new immigration policies that allows nations to deny asylum and deport migrants because they either hail from a country designated safe or could apply for asylum in a country outside the 27-nation bloc.

The vote at European Parliament in Strasbourg, France ratified a decision in December in Brussels when ministers across the EU agreed to a list of safe countries. The new rules would come into effect in June and allow for sending back not only asylum-seekers from those countries, but also third-country nationals who only transited through those countries before reaching Europe.

Center-right lawmakers allied with the far right on the two votes, with 408-to-184 in favor on the measure regarding safe countries of origin, and 396-to-226 on the measure regarding safe third countries.

“We are delivering another key building block for a functioning, credible asylum system,” said Lena Düpont, a German lawmaker from the European People’s Party. “By enabling manifestly unfounded asylum applications to be rejected more quickly and efficiently in the future, we are speeding up asylum procedures, relieving the burden on member state systems, and helping people avoid being stuck in legal limbo for years.”

According to the new rules, Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, Kosovo, India, Morocco and Tunisia would be considered “safe countries of origins.” EU candidate countries would too, unless there are “relevant circumstances” like armed conflict, according to a parliamentary statement.

Authorities across the 27 EU nations will soon be able to deport people to — and slash asylum claims from — those countries, which opponents of the measure said could endanger some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

“So-called ‘safe countries of origin’ are not safe. This Parliament has passed resolutions on many of these countries, condemning deteriorations in their rule of law, democracy, and fundamental rights. Today’s vote ignores the reality of the facts,” said Cecilia Strada, an Italian lawmaker in the Socialists and Democrats Group in European Parliament that voted against the designations.

Human rights groups said the designations could result in people being deported to countries they do not know, similarly to what U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has done.

“The new ‘safe third country’ rules are likely to force people to countries they may never have set foot in — places where they have no community, do not speak the language, and face a very real risk of abuse and exploitation,” said Meron Ameha Knikman, senior advisor for the International Rescue Committee.

Last May, the EU endorsed sweeping reforms to the bloc’s asylum system, with the European Commission issuing the new Pact on Migration and Asylum. The pact, among other things, called for increasing deportations and setting up “ return hubs,” a euphemism for deportation centers for rejected asylum-seekers. “Asylum could also de facto become impossible to obtain in many member states,” said French lawmaker Mélissa Camara.
