MELVINS & NAPALM DEATH Announce Full Collaborative Album Savage Imperial Death March For April

0

Melvins and Napalm Death have officially joined forces for a full-length collaborative album titled Savage Imperial Death March, set for release on April 10 via Ipecac Recordings.

While the title may be familiar to fans of the bands’ legendary Savage Imperial Death March tours in 2016 and 2025, this marks the first-ever proper studio album credited jointly to both groups — not a split, but a genuine collaboration featuring members of each band writing and recording together.

The first taste of the album arrived yesterday, when the track “Tossing Coins Into The Fountain Of Fuck” premiered via Jose Mangin on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, immediately signaling the kind of abrasive, unfiltered chaos fans might expect from such a meeting of minds.

Recorded at the Melvins‘ Los Angeles studio, the sessions brought together Buzz Osborne (vocals/guitar) and Dale Crover (drums) with Napalm Death‘s Barney Greenway (vocals), Shane Embury (bass), and John Cooke (guitar). According to Embury, the collaboration was as organic as it was overdue.

“I have loved the Melvins forever and their outlook on music,” Embury said. “A chance to make an album of eclectic musical madness with them was truly an honour and a whole lot of fun, which surely is the whole point! Let’s do another one soon.”

Osborne echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how evenly balanced the creative process was. “Napalm Death are one of my favorite bands ever,” he said. “It was an absolute pleasure and a dream come true to do this collaboration with them. We wrote songs together… It was truly a 50/50 partnership.”

For Greenway, the album also carried a deeply personal resonance. “Funny how life turns out sometimes… collecting hard-to-find Melvins 7-inches on Bleecker Street in 1989 and then touring twice and doing an album with them within the following 35 years,” he reflected.

“Had a great time with it all, and nice to work with fellow travellers in the Melvins who also couldn’t care about pandering to ‘demographics.'” He added that the sessions pushed him creatively: “I felt myself almost babbling lyrically during the recording, and that alone made for very fun recording times.”

Savage Imperial Death March features eight tracks and will be released on CD, digital platforms, and four limited-edition vinyl variants. A stripped-down version of the album previously appeared as a hyper-limited vinyl/CD release during the bands’ 2025 tour, but this full edition includes new artwork by Mackie Osborne and two additional tracks, “Awful Handwriting” and “Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy.”

Pre-orders are available now, and for fans of uncompromising heavy music, Savage Imperial Death March promises a rare collision of two of the underground’s most influential and fiercely independent forces.

Tang goes off after K-State loss: Players ‘don’t deserve to be here’

0

Kansas State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang didn’t hold back in slamming his players after what he described as an “embarrassing” 91-62 home loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.

In a brief but tense postgame news conference that lasted just over two minutes, Tang questioned his team’s pride, saying the players “don’t deserve” to represent the university after a lackluster effort that resulted in a fifth straight loss for the Wildcats (10-14) and dropped them to 1-10 in the Big 12, last in the conference.

“These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform,” Tang said. “There will be very few of them in it next year. I’m embarrassed for the university. I’m embarrassed for our fans and our student section. It is just ridiculous.”

He continued: “It means something to wear a K-State uniform. It means something to put on this purple, and everything this university is about and why I love this place. They don’t love this place, so they don’t deserve to be here.”

Several fans in the K-State student section wore paper bags over their heads to express their contempt at the Wildcats’ performance, which included falling behind 30-11 in the first eight minutes and trailing 53-31 at the half after Cincinnati (13-12, 5-7) shot 57% from the field.

The margin peaked at 32 points when the Bearcats’ Jordi Rodriguez hit a 3 with about 3 minutes remaining.

When told afterward about the K-State student section, Tang scoffed, “I’d wear a paper bag, too, if I was them,” before storming out of the news conference.

Kansas State’s next game is Saturday on the road against No. 3 Houston Cougars.

Ukrainian Olympian banned from Winter Games over helmet showing compatriots killed in Russia’s war

0

Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy — Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych is out of the Milan Cortina Games after refusing a last-minute plea from the International Olympic Committee to use a helmet other than the one that honors athletes killed in Russia’s war on his country.

IOC President Kirsty Coventry was waiting for Heraskevych at the top of the track when he arrived around 8:15 a.m. Thursday, about 75 minutes before the start of the men’s skeleton race.

They went into a private area and spoke briefly, and Coventry was unable to change Heraskevych’s mind. The Ukrainian athlete briefly addressed reporters and said he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“It’s hard to say or put into words. It’s emptiness,” he said.

“This is price of our dignity,” he added in a social media post.

Coventry spoke with reporters after the meeting, tears rolling down her face as she spoke.

“I was not meant to be here but I thought it was really important to come here and talk to him face to face,” Coventry told reporters, according to the Reuters news agency. “No one, especially me, is disagreeing with the messaging, it’s a powerful message, it’s a message of remembrance, of memory. The challenge was to find a solution for the field of play. Sadly we’ve not been able to find that solution. I really wanted to see him race. It’s been an emotional morning.”

The IOC added that it made its decision “with regret.”

“Despite multiple exchanges and in-person meetings between the IOC and Mr Heraskevych, the last one this morning with IOC President Kirsty Coventry, he did not consider any form of compromise,” the IOC said in a statement. “The IOC was very keen for Mr Heraskevych to compete. This is why the IOC sat down with him to look for the most respectful way to address his desire to remember his fellow athletes who have lost their lives following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The essence of this case is not about the message, it is about where he wanted to express it.”

Heraskevych came to the Olympics with a customized helmet showing the faces of more than 20 Ukrainian athletes and coaches who were killed during the war, a conflict that started shortly after the 2022 Beijing Games ended.

The IOC said Monday night that the helmet wouldn’t be allowed in competition, citing a rule against making political statements on the Olympic field of play. Heraskevych wore the helmet for training Tuesday and Wednesday anyway, knowing the IOC could ultimately keep him from the Olympic race.

“The helmet does not violate any IOC rules,” Heraskevych said.

The IOC had sided with Heraskevych before. When he displayed a “No war in Ukraine” sign after his fourth and final run at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the IOC said he was simply calling for peace and did not find him in violation of the Olympic charter.

“We want him to compete. We really, really want him to have his moment,” IOC spokesman Mark Adams said Wednesday. “That’s very, very important. We want all athletes to have their moment and that’s the point. We want all our athletes to have a fair and level playing field.”

The first two runs of the race were Thursday, with the final two runs on Friday night. Heraskevych was a legitimate medal hopeful.

Speaking with CBS News’ Aidan Stretch in Kyiv on Wednesday, Ukrainian artist Iryna Protts, who made Heraskevych’s helmet, said she would be “very upset” if he wasn’t allowed to wear it.

“This world of mine looks like hypocrisy,” she said. “A lot of our people have been killed. Our intelligent people have been killed. Our businesspeople have been killed. Our athletes have been killed. And now it’s already the fourth year of the war, and it feels like no one cares. Everyone just looks on, silently.”

Rain and mountain snow chances return Friday afternoon

SOME RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW. BYRON IS GOING TO SHOW YOU WHERE IN YOUR KOAT 7 WEATHER. YEAH, WE GOT A LITTLE TASTE OF IT THIS EVENING WITH SOME SPRINKLES. LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS AROUND THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA. AND THAT WAS AFTER OUR VERY WARM AFTERNOON, 68 DEGREES, A PAIR OF THEM THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. THAT 60 DEGREES, TWO SHY OF THE RECORD HIGH OF 70 DEGREES AND A GOOD, WHAT, 14 DEGREES ABOVE THE AVERAGE OF 54 DEGREES. SO YEAH, THAT’S PRETTY IMPRESSIVE. AND YOU KNOW, WE HAVE AVERAGED WELL ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF FEBRUARY. IF WE ENDED THE MONTH, NOW WOULD BE THE SIXTH WARMEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD LIVE. LOOK OUTSIDE. WE’RE LOOKING AT JUST SOME CLOUDS OUT THERE. THOSE SHOWERS ARE SKIRTING OUT. SO RECORD CHALLENGING SPRING LIKE WARMTH TOMORROW. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW CHANCES THEY’RE GOING UP AS WE GET INTO FRIDAY. AND I THINK WE’RE GOING TO SEE SOME WIDESPREAD RAIN SHOWERS. SO WE DO HAVE AN IMPACT WEATHER DAY ON FRIDAY. SO KOAT 7 THE RADAR LOOP OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS. YOU SEE THOSE LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS THAT SWEPT QUICKLY ACROSS THE METRO AREA. AND IF YOU GOT SOMETHING THAT’S GOOD BECAUSE MANY AREAS MISSED OUT. BUT WE SAW SOME OF THAT ACROSS NORTHWEST NEW MEXICO EARLIER TODAY. IN FACT, AROUND GALLUP AREA, SOME STRIKES OF LIGHTNING EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON AROUND 4:00 OR SO. IT’S ALL IN ASSOCIATION WITH THESE STORM SYSTEMS THAT ARE OFF THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA THAT ARE MERGING. AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT. I THINK AS WE GO INTO THURSDAY, WE’LL SEE A GOOD CHANCE OF THESE STORM SYSTEMS PUMPING A LOT OF MOISTURE INTO THE STATE. BY FRIDAY, THAT MOISTURE WILL CONVERGE OVER THE STATE AND BE WRUNG OUT BY THAT STORM SYSTEM, BRINGING A GOOD CHANCE OF SOME WIDESPREAD RAIN AND HIGH ELEVATION SNOW SHOWERS FOR TOMORROW. WE’RE LOOKING AT THOSE TEMPERATURES THAT WILL START OFF IN THE 40S FOR ALBUQUERQUE AND WILL WARM INTO THE 60S ONCE AGAIN. IN FACT, IF WE HIT THAT 68 DEGREES TOMORROW AFTERNOON HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE, THAT WOULD BE TWO DEGREES SHY OF THE RECORD HIGH FOR TOMORROW. SO REALLY WARMING UP OUT THERE, WE ARE LOOKING AT LOTS OF CLOUDS, BUT MAINLY HIGH CLOUDS. SO SOME FILTERED SUNSHINE ACROSS THE STATE WITH THAT RECORD CHALLENGING WARMTH FRIDAY, THAT MOISTURE SWEEPS IN. I THINK BY LUNCHTIME HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE, WE’LL SEE MOST OF THOSE SHOWERS OFF TO THE SOUTH AND WEST. BUT AS WE GO INTO THE MID AFTERNOON HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE ON FRIDAY, WE’LL SEE THAT CHANCE OF SHOWERS FILLING IN FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA AND WORK IT UP INTO THE NORTHEASTERN PART OF THE STATE AS WELL, WITH GOOD CHANCE OF THOSE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS AREAS OF SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO. AND SOME OF THOSE COULD TRY TO TURN SEVERE, ESPECIALLY THE FARTHER SOUTHEAST YOU GO OUT TOWARD HOBBS AND LEE COUNTY. WE’LL HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THAT. SOME DAMAGING WIND AND HAIL POSSIBLE IF THOSE STORMS DO TURN SEVERE. NOW FOR VALENTINE’S DAY ON SATURDAY, I THINK THAT STORM SYSTEM BEGINS TO PULL AWAY ON THE BACKSIDE OF IT. WE’LL HAVE SOME BREEZY CONDITIONS, BUT DRYING CONDITIONS ACROSS THE STATE FOR THOSE DINNERS ON VALENTINE’S DAY AS WELL. BUT WE ARE LOOKING AT A GOOD CHANCE OF WIDESPREAD RAIN. MUCH NEEDED MOISTURE. THAT’S SOME GOOD NEWS. THE SNOW ELEVATIONS WILL BE HIGH, SO I THINK THE BEST CHANCE OF SEEING ACCUMULATING SNOW WOULD BE ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO INTO SOUTHERN COLORADO. AND YEAH, THE SKI AREAS COULD EASILY PICK UP A FEW INCHES OF SNOWFALL AS WE GO FROM FRIDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY. FARM TO THE FOUR CORNERS, DURANGO, CHILE. GALLUP GRANTS. YOU GOT CLOUDS TOMORROW, SOME WARM TEMPERATURES AND THEN THAT GOOD CHANCE OF SHOWERS FOR FRIDAY. WE DRY IT OUT FOR VALENTINE’S DAY INTO SUNDAY. SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO. ALSO LOOKING AT SOME CLOUDS TOMORROW WITH MILD TEMPERATURES. AND THEN WE COOL IT OFF WITH THAT GOOD CHANCE OF RAIN WORKING IN SILVER CITY, LORDSBURG, DEMING, T OR C COULD BE SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING TOO. WITH US. ALAMOGORDO, ROSWELL, CARLSBAD. HOBBS. ENJOY TOMORROW. IT’S GOING TO BE NICE IN THE 70S FOR ROSWELL. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY AND WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH SOME OF THOSE IF THEY TURN STRONG TO SEVERE. KEEP TUNED HERE FOR UPDATES. GET NOTIFIED WITH YOUR KOAT APP. IT DOES DRY OUT FOR VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND AND INTO THE NORTHEASTERN PART OF THE STATE. SAME DEAL. SOME BREEZES OUT THERE FOR TOMORROW, BUT IT WILL BE WARM. THOSE SHOWERS WORKING LATE FRIDAY. FRIDAY NIGHT COULD MIX WITH SOME SNOW IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA FOR EARLY ON SATURDAY MORNING, BEFORE ROUNDING OUT ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, AND FOR THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO. QUIET FOR TOMORROW. BUT WE ARE LOOKING AT THAT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SANTA FE IN THE AFTERNOON ON FRIDAY AND COULD MIX WITH SOME SNOW FOR FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY, WITH MOUNTAINS PICKING UP A FEW INCHES OF SNOWFALL. METRO AREA. IT’S GOING TO BE A NICE ONE TOMORROW. ANOTHER WARM ONE. WE WERE 68 TODAY. WE’LL DO IT AGAIN FOR TOMORROW. HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE. OUR RECORD IS 70 DEGREES. THEN WE DROP THAT TEMPERATURE BRIEFLY FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY WITH THAT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SO IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO BE OUTSIDE FRIDAY, JUST, YOU KNOW, HAVE THE UMBRELL

Erika Kirk Absent From Turning Point USA Halftime Show Tribute

0

Erika Kirk did not make an appearance during Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show during the 2026 Super Bowl on Sunday (Feb. 8).

The alternative halftime show — organized by Turning Point USA — featured performances from Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, and included a tribute honoring Erika’s late husband, Charlie Kirk, the organization’s founder.

After the event, Erika shared a message on X praising the show and those involved.

“The @TPUSA All-American Halftime Show was so incredible. Charlie would’ve absolutely loved it,” she wrote. “Thank you to the millions that tuned in. I’m so proud of our entire team, staff, and the artists who believed in the vision and mission.”

She also emphasized the values behind the event, adding, “It’s okay to love Jesus and your country.”

Erika closed the post with a personal note: “I love you Charlie baby, this is all for you.”

Tribute to Charlie Kirk

During the broadcast, the show featured a tribute honoring Charlie, who was killed in September 2025 at age 31.

A slideshow of photos featuring Charlie, Erika, and their family played on screen as a voiceover of Charlie reflected on faith, family, and purpose.

“I want to honor God in all that I do,” Charlie said. “I want to be a great husband, a great father. I want to serve this country. I want to try to continue to lead this movement.”

The tribute concluded with Charlie’s voice saying, “The more often that you choose the deep, the difficult, but the right path over the easy path is one that will reward you, your family and this beautiful nation.”

A title card followed that read, “In loving memory of our founder and CEO, Charlie Kirk,” accompanied by a Bible verse.

About the All-American Halftime Show

Turning Point USA announced its plans for an alternative halftime show in October 2025, following the NFL’s revelation that Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny would headline the official Super Bowl halftime performance.

The organization described the event as being centered on “faith, family, and freedom.”

The All-American Halftime Show aired ahead of the NFL broadcast and was streamed on platforms including YouTube, following a last-minute change. Turning Point USA cited licensing restrictions that prevented the show from airing on X.

Earlier this month, Erika said the event was intended to honor her husband’s memory.

“He would be fist-pumping at this. He would be so stoked,” she said in a Fox News interview. “What better way to honor him than to be able to offer an alternative to families.”

15 Country Artists Primed to Headline a Super Bowl Halftime Show

Any way you slice it, country music is long overdue for its time in the spotlight at the Super Bowl. Although several artists have sung the National Anthem at the game, the coveted halftime show has been anything but country for over three decades.

The last time anyone from the genre headlined the performance was in 1994, when Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Wynonna Judd and Naomi Judd did a medley of their biggest hits. With country music gaining in popularity, there’s no better time than now to put one of our own in the spotlight. Here are 15 artists who are already primed to take on the task.

Kim Jong Un’s daughter close to be designated as future leader: S. Korea spy agency

0

SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea’s spy agency told lawmakers on Thursday that it believes the teenage daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is close to being designated as the country’s future leader as he moves to extend the family dynasty to a fourth generation.

The assessment by the National Intelligence Service comes as North Korea is preparing to hold its biggest political conference later this month, where Kim is expected to outline his major policy goals for the next five years and take steps to tighten his authoritarian grip.

In a closed-door briefing, NIS officials said they are closely monitoring whether Kim’s daughter — believed to be named Kim Ju Ae and around 13 years old — appears with him before thousands of delegates at the upcoming Workers’ Party Congress, said lawmaker Lee Seong Kweun, who attended the meeting.

First appearing in public at a long-range missile test in November 2022, Kim Ju Ae has since accompanied her father to an increasing number of events, including weapons tests, military parades and factory openings. She traveled with him to Beijing last September for Kim’s first summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in six years on the sidelines of a World War II event.

Speculation about her political future intensified last month when she joined her parents on a New Year’s Day visit to Pyongyang’s Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, a sacred family mausoleum displaying the embalmed bodies of her late grandfather and great-grandfather, the country’s first- and second-generation leaders. Some experts saw the visit as the clearest sign yet that she’s positioned to be the heir to her 42-year-old father.

South Korean officials initially expressed doubt that she could be chosen as a North Korean leader, citing the country’s deeply conservative culture and tradition of male-dominated leadership. But her increasingly prominent appearances in state media have prompted a reassessment.

In its previous assessment of Kim Ju Ae’s status in September, the NIS told lawmakers that Kim Jong Un’s decision to bring her along on his trip to China was likely part of an effort to build a “narrative” possibly paving the way for her succession.

“In the past, (NIS) described Kim Ju Ae as being in the midst of ‘successor training.’ What was notable today is that they used the term ‘successor-designate stage,’ a shift that’s quite significant,” Lee said.

According to Lee, the agency cited her growing presence at high-profile military events, her inclusion in the family visit to Kumsusan, and signs that Kim Jong Un was beginning to seek her input on certain policy matters.

Despite her increased visibility in propaganda, North Korean state media have never published the name of Kim Jong Un’s daughter, only referring to her as his “respected” or “most beloved” child.

The belief that she is named Kim Ju Ae is based on an account by former NBA star Dennis Rodman, in which he recalled holding Kim Jong Un’s baby daughter during a trip to Pyongyang in 2013. South Korean intelligence officials believe she was born sometime that year.

In 2023, South Korea’s spy agency told lawmakers that Kim Jong Un and his wife also likely have an older son and a younger third child whose gender is unknown.

Since its foundation in 1948, North Korea has been ruled by male members of the Kim family, beginning with the country’s founder Kim Il Sung and followed by his son, Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Un was just 26 when he was officially named heir during a 2010 party conference, two years after Kim Jong Il suffered a debilitating stroke. Following his father’s death in December 2011, he was abruptly thrust into the throne with relatively little preparation.

Some analysts suggest that Kim Jong Un’s decision to debut his daughter early possibly reflects his own experience of being rushed into power.

Kim Ju Ae’s first known visit to Kumsusan last month was also her father’s first visit to the site in three years. Given the palace’s status as a key symbol of the Kim family rule, the trip should be seen as a symbolic gesture by Kim Jong Un to present his daughter as his heir before his grandfather and father as he prepares for the major ruling party congress, said Cheong Seong-Chang, a senior analyst at South Korea’s Sejong Institute.

The Workers’ Party congress in late February, last held in 2016 and 2021, could provide a stage for Kim Jong Un to formalize his succession plans, possibly by giving his daughter the party’s first secretary post, its No. 2 job, although such a decision might not be immediately disclosed to the outside world, Cheong said.

Other analysts question whether she would receive such a high-profile post or any formal party role, given that party rules require members to be at least 18.

If Kim Jong Un does use the party congress to cement his daughter as successor, the signs would be more subtle, said Koh Yu-hwan, former president of South Korea’s Institute of National Unification.

For example, the party may issue self-praise about how North Korea has survived longer than most other Communist states and credit that to how the country established a “successful inheritance of the revolution,” he said.

“If you see comments like that, it would be reasonable to think that Ju Ae has been cemented,” as heir, Koh said.
