Henry on alleged racial incident involving Vini Jr.: ‘We belong, right?’

0

Real Madrid’s victory over Benfica overshadowed by a stoppage of play with Vinicus Junior walking off the pitch following an incident of alleged racial abuse. After scoring a goal and celebrating during Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory, the match had to be delayed for 10 minutes after Vinicius sprinted over to referee Francois Letexier and was seen pointing at Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni.

The Benfica player covered his face with his shirt when he said something to Vinicius Junior, and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe said that the word used was “mono,” which is Spanish for monkey.

CBS Sports analyst Thierry Henry reflected on the scenario and opened up, saying he had gone through similar situations during his own storied career.

“People did fight, way before my time, for us to be able to perform and to entertain people. And to still be in 2026 dealing with the same thing, it’s tiring,” Henry said. “Obviously, I can relate, not only I can relate by the color of my skin, I can relate because I’ve been there. I’ve been lonely.”

“I really don’t know anymore … Don’t go there, don’t do this. They are booing him. There’s no way that if people understood what was happening on the field and that they’ve been told because they still were booing him.

“That happened to me. So at times you feel lonely because it’s going to be your word against his word. And so, because we don’t know what was said, because [Prestianni] was very courageous and put his shirt over his mouth to make sure we were not going to see what he said, so clearly, already, you look suspicious. Because you don’t want people to see or read what you said.

“Then you have the reaction of Vinicius telling me that something was not right … Vinicius can tell us his side, and Prestianni, I’m sure, will not tell us what was actually said. I saw him when Kylian Mbappe confronted him, and he said to Kylian, ‘I didn’t say anything.’ But he must’ve said something. What I go back to is that sometimes it’s lonely, you feel like you don’t know what to do anymore, because I’ve been in that situation, Vinicius has been in that situation. So many players have been in that situation.”

“Regardless of whatever happened, you don’t want to see anyone throwing a bottle at anyone anywhere. I can relate because at times you feel lonely, this is why I like the reaction of the Real Madrid players, as you would expect that when you see a teammate in this type of situation, you’re going to believe him straight away. Yes, Vinicius scored, but it’s not something that you want to see. I’ve been in this situation; it’s horrible. And not being able to prove it. He’s going to say no, obviously.”

When Prestianni was substituted from the match in the 81st minute of play, he was applauded by the Benfica supporters. Benfica’s manager Jose Mourinho claimed that Vini’s goal wasn’t celebrated in a respectful way, despite the Brazilian dancing in the corner, for which he was yellow carded for.

Henry asked the question that many are wondering in response.

“I answered by scoring goals, I answered by being cocky, I answered by being silent, I answered by fighting. So what, are we just here to entertain?”

UEFA guidelines

In UEFA competitions, there are official guidelines to halt a match if a referee becomes aware of racial behavior but the guidelines are geared to incidents coming from fans rather than from players on the pitch itself. Step one is for the game to be stopped with an announcement being made to cease any racist behavior. If it doesn’t cease after the game has been restarted, it will then be suspended with teams going to the dressing rooms before potentially being abandoned if issues continue after a second restart. After a match, the case is referred to UEFA’s disciplinary authorities.

This match was only stopped as the referee attempted to sort out what was said, but since there wasn’t clear proof of what happened, after things calmed down, the match restarted. Vinicius Junior released a statement on social media calling for more action.

“Racists are, above all, cowards,” the Brazilian said. “They need to put their shirts in their mouths to show how weak they are. But they have the protection of others who, in theory, have the obligation to punish them. Nothing that happened today is new to me or my family. I received a yellow card for celebrating a goal. I still don’t understand why. On the other hand, it was a poorly executed protocol that served no purpose. I don’t like to be involved in situations like this, especially after a great victory and when the headlines should be about Real Madrid, but it’s necessary.”

Right back Trent Alexander-Arnold called the event “a disgrace to football,” following the match, while Mbappe encouraged Vinicius to keep dancing.

Gov. JB Pritzker to propose suspending tax incentives for data centers in Illinois

0

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is expected Wednesday to call for a two-year suspension of tax incentives offered to develop data centers amid growing scrutiny over their rapid expansion and impact on communities.

Pritzker plans to advocate for a policy shift in his State of the State and budget address in Springfield under a proposal first shared with NBC News.

At the center of the plan is a two-year pause, effective July 1, on Illinois’ data center tax credit program. Pritzker will instruct key state agencies to study the impact of existing data centers on the state’s energy grid and consumers and analyze the financial impact the centers have had on the economy. Specifically, the governor’s office said it is trying to make sure the centers are financially sustainable over time, protect consumers from soaring energy costs and ensure fair allocation of resources.

Illinois’ Democratic-led General Assembly must approve Pritzker’s proposal.

Data centers are massive structures that run computer servers that power the growing demands of artificial intelligence. Illinois would be hitting pause on their proliferation as community backlash intensifies across the country, with residents from Oregon to Virginia to Indiana calling on local officials to rein in data center development amid rising electricity costs and water consumption.

While a number of states are rushing to create incentives for companies to build data centers, some governors — including potential 2028 candidates — have also moved toward more oversight. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, recently announced a set of criteria for data center developers to qualify for state resources, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, has put up some guardrails around data center growth.

In Pritzker’s proposal, tax incentives would not be available for new data centers for two years, beginning in July. In 2024, Georgia lawmakers sent Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, a bill that would curb existing tax incentives, but Kemp vetoed it.

Data center development once promised a boost to local property tax bases and the promise of jobs. But since they have proliferated, residents have shared concerns about the disruption to their communities relative to their benefit. They have also expressed fear of the unpredictability in advancements with artificial intelligence that could leave the massive buildings stranded. One recent flare-up in neighboring Indiana prompted local officials to deny permitting to a data center proposed in St. Joseph County.

“As a governor who has long prioritized attracting businesses to the state, Gov. Pritzker’s decision to pause tax credits meant to lure data centers to build their facilities in Illinois is a significant statement—one other leaders should pay attention to,” Kady McFadden, a political strategist in Illinois who has a focus on climate policy, said in an email. “It is clear the governor recognizes these facilities are increasingly politically unpopular and should not lead to higher utilities bills for families. This is a prudent decision on the governor’s part as Illinois is beginning a legislative discussion about the future of data centers in the state.”

Pritzker’s office stressed that Illinois remains welcoming to business growth but is trying to balance development with its impact on consumers. Illinois generates more electricity than it consumes, according to the governor’s office, exporting 20% of the electricity it produces.

Pritzker is also expected Wednesday to cast blame on the Trump administration for rising energy costs, saying they were driven by slashing tax credits and loans for affordable, clean energy resources.

Pritzker spoke this month of his hesitancy about data center development in the future.

“I do not want to add data centers that are not paying their fair share and making sure that we’re not affecting home rates in any way by having data centers in the state to the extent that we do,” he said. “If they do threaten to raise rates, we’ve got to slow them down and make sure they understand what their responsibilities are. And we’re going to be looking at that in the legislature this spring.”

10 backcountry skiers missing after avalanche and 6 awaiting rescue in Northern California

LIVE FROM KCRA THREE NEWS. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. WE’RE FOLLOWING AT 430 IS IN NEVADA COUNTY. A SEARCH AND RESCUE EFFORT IS UNDERWAY FOR MORE THAN A DOZEN SKIERS CAUGHT IN A SIERRA AVALANCHE. 16 PEOPLE WENT OUT, INCLUDING FOUR GUIDES, BUT TEN PEOPLE RIGHT NOW REMAIN MISSING. AND WE DON’T KNOW IF SOME OF THOSE MISSING ARE THE GUIDES, OR IF SOME OF THEM WHO HAVE WERE DID SURVIVE. THIS. ARE THE CUSTOMERS OR THE CLIENTS OR THE GUIDES? WE DON’T KNOW. SO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE AVALANCHE WAS REPORTED NEAR THE CASTLE PEAK AREA ABOUT 1130 THIS MORNING. AND AS CHRIS MENTIONED, THERE WAS A TOTAL OF 16 PEOPLE WHO WENT OUT IN THIS BACKCOUNTRY SKIING, INCLUDING THOSE FOR SKI GUIDES. TEN REMAIN UNACCOUNTED FOR. EARLIER IN THE DAY, THE SIERRA AVALANCHE CENTER ISSUED AN AVALANCHE WARNING FOR PARTS OF THE AREA. THERE WAS ALREADY A WARNING IN PLACE BEFORE THEY WENT OUT. WE SPOKE WITH THE NEVADA COUNTY CAPTAIN, RUSSELL GREEN, JUST MOMENTS AGO ABOUT THE EFFORT TO FIND THOSE THAT ARE STILL MISSING. WELL, RIGHT NOW, YOU KNOW, THE INTERSTATES CLOSED BECAUSE OF ZERO VISIBILITY. THEY’RE REACHING THE SITE. WE’RE SENDING RESCUE WORKERS IN FROM A COUPLE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS SO THAT WE CAN ATTEMPT TO GET IN THERE. IT’S GOING TO BE SLOW GOING. WE HAVE BROUGHT IN SNOWCATS. WE HAVE SNOWMOBILERS ON STANDBY. WE HAVE INDIVIDUALS ON SKIS. SO WE HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT WAYS THAT PEOPLE ARE ATTEMPTING TO GET IN THERE. IT’S JUST GOING TO BE A SLOW, TEDIOUS PROCESS BECAUSE THEY ALSO HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL ACCESSING THE AREA DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE AVALANCHE DANGER IS STILL VERY HIGH. PEOPLE GO OUT AND USE THE BACKCOUNTRY AT ALL TIMES. WE ADVISE AGAINST IT, OBVIOUSLY, BUT I WOULDN’T SAY THAT IT’S UNCOMMON. NOT THAT IT WAS A WISE CHOICE. CAPTAIN GREEN TELLS US THE SIX PEOPLE WHO ARE AWAITING RESCUE MADE A SHELTER WITH A TARP. THEY ARE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THESE FIRST RESPONDERS WHO ARE NOW OUT IN THIS STORM TRYING TO GET TO THEM. THEY’RE RESPONDING THROUGH TEXT MESSAGES FROM EMERGENCY BEACONS, AND THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS WORKING TO NOTIFY THE IMPACTED FAMILIES. THEY DIDN’T WANT TO GIVE OUT NAMES OR ANYTHING UNTIL FAMILY HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. SO SHOWING YOU THE MAP RIGHT HERE. CASTLE PEAK ACCORDING TO SIERRA AVALANCHE CENTER, WE HAVE A MORE SPECIFIC AREA OF WHERE THIS AVALANCHE HAPPENED. IT IS AN AREA KNOWN AS PERRY PEAK NEAR FROG LAKE. AND THIS IS ESTIMATED THAT THIS AVALANCHE HAPPENED AT 1130 THIS MORNING THERE AT THE 8200 FOOT LEVEL. BUT WE’RE UNDERSTAND IT’S A VERY DIFFICULT PLACE TO GET TO. AND THAT’S WHY NOW, FIVE HOURS AFTER THEY THINK THIS AVALANCHE HAPPENED, THEY ARE STILL WORKING TO GET OUT THERE TO RESCUE THE PEOPLE. YEAH. AND THE CAPTAIN MENTIONED FROG LAKE, AND THAT’S MAYBE WHERE THEY WERE HEADED IN THAT AREA. BUT IT’S REALLY HARD TO GET ON THE OTHER SIDE AND GET TO THAT. SO AND, YOU KNOW, WE’RE LOSING DAYLIGHT AT THIS TIME. NOT TO MENTION THERE’S A STORM GOING ON. SO WE’LL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THAT BREAKING NEWS. AND ALSO AS THE SNOW IS BLANKETING THE SIERRA, IT’S ALSO SHUT DOWN SOME MAJOR HIGHWAYS ON THIS KCRA 3 WEATHER ALERT DAY, I-80 SHUT DOWN FROM COLFAX TO THE NEVADA STATE LINE. HIGHWAY 50 IS CLOSED FROM PLACERVILLE TO MEYERS, AND HIGHWAY 88 IS CLOSED FROM EAST OF HAM STATION TO WEST OF PICKETTS JUNCTION. CALTRANS CAMERAS ARE CAPTURING WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY. YOU CAN SEE THE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. YOU CAN SEE CAN BARELY SEE THE ASPHALT AND THE ROAD, AND A LOT OF THAT SNOW IS BLOWING SIDEWAYS BECAUSE OF THE WIND MAKING VISIBILITY REALLY HARD. SO THE MESSAGE FROM CHP TODAY STAY HOME. IF YOU DO HAVE TO BE OUT ON THE ROAD, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THOSE CHAINS. BUT IF POSSIBLE, YOU KNOW, STAY HOME. DON’T DON’T BE OUT IN THIS. YEAH. THEY’VE BEEN SAYING THAT ALONG WITH OUR METEOROLOGIST. AUTHORITIES ARE TELLING PEOPLE THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO DRIVE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. AND IF YOU ARE DOING SO AND YOU GET STUCK, DON’T TAKE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE WITH YOUR GPS. YOU CAN GET EVEN MORE STUCK AND LOST. METEOROLOGIST DIRK VERDOORN TRACKING ALL THIS FOR YOU. AND YOU WARNED US IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS TODAY. YEAH, DEFINITELY STAY HOME IN THE MOUNTAINS. BUT EVEN IN THE VALLEY TODAY WE’VE HAD SOME HEAVY RAIN. AND IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO OUT, IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO TO WORK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, IF YOU CAN PUT OFF GOING TO THE STORE, THAT’S THE BEST THING TO DO RIGHT NOW. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS, IS IN THE VALLEY, THINGS ARE STARTING TO WIND DOWN, BUT WE’RE STILL STAYING VERY ACTIVE IN THE SIERRA. THIS IS AN ALERT CALIFORNIA CAMERA, AND THIS IS FROM WEST POINT, CALIFORNIA, WHICH THIS SITS AT ABOUT 27, ALMOST 20 800FT. SO WE’RE BELOW 3000FT. YOU CAN SEE THERE’S SNOW ON THE GROUND HERE. AND AS I PUT THIS INTO TIME LAPSE, YOU CAN SEE THE MOTION OF THE FLAKES AS THEY CONTINUE TO JUST KIND OF STREAM DOWN OVER THE PAST HOUR. AND OF COURSE, AS THOSE FLAKES HIT THE CAMERA LENS, THEY MELT. AND SO THAT’S WHY YOU GET THE WATER DROPLETS COMING THROUGH. BUT YOU CAN SEE THE TREES ARE ALL COATED WITH SOME SNOW, AND THAT’S A 2700FT. SO THIS IS LOWER ELEVATION SNOW. WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SEE THOSE SNOW LEVELS DROPPING. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE ALSO WE’RE JUST GOING TO SEE MORE SCATTERED SHOWERS. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A STEADY RAIN LIKE WE’VE HAD A WHOLE DAY TODAY. WE’VE HAD THAT STEADY RAIN AND IT’S SLOWLY MAKING ITS WAY THROUGH THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AND THROUGH, WELL STILL OVER MUCH OF THE SIERRA. BUT EVEN THIS IS GOING TO START BREAKING UP AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS, ESPECIALLY AFTER, I THINK, NINE, 10:00. WE’LL SEE IT TURN MORE SHOWERY EVEN IN THE SIERRA. BUT HERE’S SOME RAIN AND STANISLAUS COUNTY MODESTO GETTING THE SOLID RAIN AS WELL AS RIVERBANK RACING PATTERSON WATERFORD ALL GETTING THAT WE HAVE A LINE OF HEAVIER RAIN THAT’S JUST MOVED THROUGH COPPEROPOLIS. IT’S GOING TO BE HEADING TOWARDS SONORA, AND CHINESE CAMP IS GOING TO GET JUST A BRIEF DOWNPOUR. WITH THAT, WE’RE ALSO SEEING THE RAIN STARTING TO CATCH A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK AROUND STOCKTON, BUT STILL COMING DOWN PRETTY HEAVY IN LONDON AND ON TOWARDS SAN ANDREAS AND MCCULLOM HILL, WHERE WE HAVE THAT STEADY RAIN, AND THEN FARTHER NORTH, CAMERON PARK, ALSO ON THE BACKSIDE. NOW THE HEAVIER RAIN THAT’S RIGHT OVER PLACERVILLE AND PLYMOUTH. WE’RE SEEING THAT AGAIN, TRANSLATING TO SOME HEAVIER SNOW AROUND POLLOCK PINES, WHERE THINGS HAVE BEEN REALLY ACCUMULATING. SO THAT’S WHAT’S GOING ON RIGHT NOW WITH OUR WEATHER. BACK OVER TO YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. NOW LET’S TAKE A LIVE LOOK AT HIGHWAY 50 AND PIONEER TRAIL. THIS IS JUST SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE, SOUTH OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. YOU CAN SEE THOSE TOW TRUCKS JUST SLOWLY MAKING THEIR WAY THROUGH HERE. AND YOU CAN SEE SOME LIGHTS, MAYBE SOME BIG RIGS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. AGAIN, 50 IS SHUT DOWN RIGHT NOW FROM POINT VIEW DRIVE AND PLACERVILLE ALL THE WAY TO MEYERS. BECAUSE OF THESE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS, THE POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS, YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE THE ROAD. WE’VE GOT SPINOUTS, WE’VE GOT CRASHES. SO THEY JUST SHUT IT DOWN. SO THAT’S SEEN A 50. LET’S GO TO THE SCENE ON 80 KCRA 3’S MICHELLE BANDUR LIVE IN COLFAX AND WELL, THAT’S AS FAR AS YOU GOT TODAY. THIS IS IT RIGHT HERE. END OF THE ROAD. WE ARE AT I-80. THIS IS THE RAMP RIGHT HERE AT COLFAX. YOU CAN SEE THE SIGN RAMP CLOSED. WE DO HAVE A CALTRANS WORKER HERE. AND HE’S BEEN STOPPING PEOPLE ALL DAY MAKING SURE, YOU KNOW, LETTING THEM KNOW, HEY YOU CAN’T GET THROUGH HERE. BUT THERE ARE OTHERS. THERE ARE LOCALS WHO ARE ALLOWED TO GO THROUGH AS WELL AS LAW ENFORCEMENT. WE’VE ALSO SEEN A LOT OF LIKE UTILITY TRUCKS. PG&E WE’RE TOLD THERE WERE SOME DOWNED POWER LINES AROUND BAXTER ABOUT 15 MILES FROM HERE. SO THEY NEED TO GET THROUGH. BUT, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GETTING THE WARNING BECAUSE OVER IF YOU CAN SEE OVER HERE, HERE WE’VE GOT THE OFF OF I-80 RIGHT HERE. THERE’S CALTRANS WORKER HERE TELLING PEOPLE THAT I-80 IS CLOSED. BUT WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING PEOPLE ALL DAY TRYING TO GET THROUGH HERE. AND THE CALTRANS GUY BEING LIKE A BOUNCER SAYING, YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU GUYS CAN’T GO THROUGH IT IS CLOSED. ALL OF THE SHUT DOWN IS TO KEEP DRIVERS SAFE. SO LET’S JUST SHOW YOU SOME OF THE VIDEO THAT WE GOT EARLIER TODAY WHEN WE WERE STOPPED. IT’S CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, 60 MILES TO THE NEVADA STATE LINE FROM HERE AT COLFAX, THE SNOW COMING DOWN ON DONNER SUMMIT AND THE AREA MAKING IT TOUGH FOR CREWS TO KEEP THE INTERSTATE PLOWED TO THAT PAVEMENT. IT’S JUST TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AND THEN ALSO HERE IN COLFAX, THE SNOW FALLING AT THIS LOWER ELEVATION OF ABOUT 2400FT. CITY CREWS KEEPING SIDEWALKS SHOVELED AND MAINTAINED IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. AND, YOU KNOW, THE LOCALS JUST TAKING IT IN. OTHERS WHO HAD PLANS TO TRAVEL EASTBOUND ON I-80 TODAY? WELL, THEY’RE JUST HAVING TO WAIT IT OUT. THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO REOPEN OR JUST MAKE OTHER PLANS. I MEAN, I DROVE UP HERE JUST TO SEE IT, YOU KNOW, I WAS DOWN MY YARD, DOWN IN LOOMIS AND I WAS LIKE, YEAH, IT’S GOT TO BE SNOWING UP IN COLFAX. I TOOK A DRIVE UP HERE. SO YEAH, WELL, YOU CAN’T GO ANY FARTHER. THEY GOT IT. IT’S A MESS. IT’S STOPPED RIGHT HERE. I MEAN, 80 IS CLOSED RIGHT HERE. THE COLFAX 174 EXIT. SO IT’S GOOD THOUGH. IT KEEPS EVERYBODY SAFE. YEAH. PEOPLE MAKE A LOT OF BAD CHOICES. MAKE GOOD CHOICES, PEOPLE. THIS MORNING I MADE IT UP TO DUTCH FLAT AND THEY TURNED US BACK AROUND. THERE WAS A BAD ACCIDENT, AND THEN THE STORM KICKED UP EVEN MORE. SO NOW. NOW WE’RE JUST WAITING. THIS IS ROXY. SO SHE’S MY LITTLE PASSENGER. AND IT’S ALWAYS NICE TO HAVE COMPANY. OF COURSE, HAVING YOUR CHILD, YOUR PET WITH YOU AS YOU’RE WAITING IT OUT. AND AGAIN, WE STILL SEE PEOPLE COME, YOU KNOW, DRIVING UP HERE, SEEING IF THEY CAN MAKE IT THROUGH TO I-80 AND KIND OF ASK WHAT’S GOING ON. YOU KNOW, WE TALKED WITH PEOPLE AND ASKED, YOU KNOW, DID YOU CHECK THE WEATHER REPORT BEFORE YOU CAME UP HERE? AND MANY TRAVELERS TOLD US THEY REALLY THOUGHT THAT THEY COULD BEAT THE STORM. AND OBVIOUSLY THAT DID NOT HAPPEN EARLIER. THERE WAS JUST A LONG LINE OF CARS WAITING IT OUT. BUT SOME OF THE FOLKS WE TALKED TO, I DON’T SEE THEIR CARS ANYMORE. THEY PROBABLY FOUND A HOTEL OR TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK TO WHERE THEY STARTED REPORTING LIVE IN COLFAX, MICHELLE BANDUR KCRA THREE NEWS. YEAH, AND I CAN SEE THE CONDITIONS NOW. IT’S IT’S MORE RAIN THAN ANYTHING RIGHT NOW. RIGHT. MICHELLE? WELL, ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW WHAT? WE ARE GETTING THAT MIX. WE’RE SEEING SOME SNOWFLAKES. NOW, WHEN WE GOT HERE, WE DEFINITELY HAD SOME HEAVY SNOWFLAKES COMING DOWN. THEN IT WAS RAIN ALL DAY. AND LITERALLY RIGHT NOW DURING THE 4:00 NEWS IS WHEN IT HAS TURNED TO THAT SLUSHY RIGHT HERE AT THIS ELEVATION. AND I THINK I’VE HEARD OUR METEOROLOGIST SAY ALL DAY TODAY, THIS IS KIND OF WHERE IT’S TURNING. WE EVEN HAVE SNOW ON THE GROUND HERE. IT’S BEEN MELTING LIKE THIS WAS COVERED EARLIER. BUT WE DO HAVE GOT IT OVER HERE. YEAH. OKAY. SO YEAH, YOU CAN SEE IT WAS MELTING EARLIER. THIS WAS COVERED. AND YOU KNOW IT’S STARTING TO MELT A LITTLE BIT. BUT YEAH IT WAS STICKING TODAY. WE HAD THE SNOW STICKING HERE IN COLFAX 2400 ELEVATION. SO IT’S GOT THAT LOW SNOW. YEAH. IT’S THE SLUSHY MIX. IT’S THE PINK ON RADAR. WHENEVER YOU SEE THE PINK THIS IS THIS IS WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT. IT’S JUST SO SLUSHY. ALL RIGHT MICHELLE, THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE APPRECIATE YOUR REPORT. IT’S INTERESTING TO SEE HOW LOW WE ARE SEEING THOSE SNOWFLAKES. YES. SNOW IS FALLING IN PIONEER RIGHT NOW. ACCORDING TO CALTRANS, HIGHWAY 88 IS CLOSED FROM DUE DROP TO FIVE MILES WEST OF PICKETTS JUNCTION. CHAIN CONTROLS ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE FROM NINE MILES EAST OF PINE GROVE TO A FEW MILES EAST OF SILVER LAKE, AND FROM FIVE MILES WEST OF PICKETTS JUNCTION TO A FEW MILES EAST OF WOODFORD. THE COLD STORM DROPPING SNOW IN THE BAY AREA ON THE PEAKS THERE, INCLUDING SAINT HELENA IN THE NORTH BAY AND MOUNT HAMILTON IN THE SOUTH BAY, AND KCRA 3’S SARAH MCGREW WENT TO MOUNT DIABLO IN THE EAST BAY, WHERE SHE SAW SOME FLAKES FALLING. IT’S ABOUT 35 DEGREES HERE AT MOUNT DIABLO IN THE EAST BAY. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS THAT THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA HAS HAD A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. A FEW INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED HERE TONIGHT. RIGHT NOW, IT’S REALLY SORT OF A WINTRY MIX. A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN, A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW, BIG, FLUFFY, WET SNOWFLAKES ARE FALLING RIGHT NOW. NOTHING IS STICKING YET, BUT YOU CAN’T GO ALL THE WAY UP THE MOUNTAIN RIGHT NOW. THEY HAVE ACTUALLY CLOSED DOWN THE ROAD. THE RANGER AT THE BOTTOM SAID THAT THEY ARE STARTING TO GET A LITTLE BIT OF BLACK ICE UP THERE, SO IT HAPPENS, BUT IT DOESN’T HAPPEN EVERY YEAR. SO DEFINITELY A FUN THING FOR PEOPLE HERE IN THE BAY AREA. REPORTING IN MOUNT DIABLO SARAH MCGREW KCRA THREE NEWS. Chris Hemsworth Confirms More Thor in MCU After ‘Doomsday’

0

Much of Avengers: Doomsday is still a mystery, but one thing we know for sure: It won’t be the last time we see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.

During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast, the actor revealed he has a “couple more” appearances as Thor lined up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will Thor Die in Avengers: Doomsday?

While fans have been wondering about Thor’s role in upcoming films, with some speculating the Asgardian god’s time in the MCU could be nearing its end, it looks like the hero is holding on strong.

“Yeah, it’s wild,” Hemsworth confirmed when asked if he will make more appearances as Thor in upcoming films, hinting at some unexpected ideas for the character.

“I was talking to Kevin Feige about it, and he said it’s cool because the audience now expects dramatic turns with the character. And whatever we do next—we’ve got some ideas to do something pretty unique again and hopefully be [different],” Hemsworth added about his future as Thor, according to The Playlist.

The actor is expected to return in Secret Wars, the sequel to Doomsday slated for December 2027, but it definitely sounds like additional Thor-led solo MCU adventures are in the pipeline beyond that movie if you go by what Hemsworth shared.

That said, for those wondering, it doesn’t look like Thor will die in Doomsday, though of course we won’t know the character’s true fate until the movie comes out later this year.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth is a pro at trying new things at this point, having experienced Thor’s adventures shift from tonally dark and gritty to playful and tongue-in-cheek between various films.

“It’s been so much fun. And what I’ve really enjoyed is—unlike a lot of what the other characters that the [actors] were given, they have had to be pretty consistent— whereas working with Taika Waititi on his films versus Kenneth Branagh with those films and then with the Russos, all [the films] had quite a different sort of tonal opinion. But [the Russos] also let me try different things,” he shared.

What Does Chris Hemsworth Think of Love & Thunder?

Hemsworth last appeared as Thor on the big screen in 2022’s Thor: Love & Thunder. The film received mixed reviews and was much less well received than its comedic predecessor, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, something Hemsworth is well aware of.

“When we made Ragnarok, it was quite a twist, with Taika’s [film]. And it was so fun. There was a huge appreciation for the shift. And then [with] Love And Thunder, it was kind of like a Monty Python sketch, and we took the piss probably a little much, and then there was some backlash,” Hemsworth explained.

“There was this real kind of, ‘Why is he a goofball and why is it like this?’ And [audiences] violently were offended and we were like, ‘Oh, we’re just having fun or trying to try something different,’” he added.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026. The film will mark Thor’s 10th appearance in the theatrical MCU.

TRENDING RUMORS

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have joined the race to sign Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, according to TEAMtalk. PSG have reportedly been monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation this season, while the Reds are also now keen on securing his signature alongside Manchester United and Arsenal. Rogers’ representatives are aware of interest in him, but he is contracted at Villa Park until 2031, so a significant transfer fee would be required to sign him.

AC Milan are set to dismiss interest in USMNT winger Christian Pulisic from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to Football Insider. Previous reports have indicated that an offer of around €70 million could be required to tempt the Serie A club to part ways with the 27-year-old, but the Rossoneri reportedly want to keep hold of him. Pulisic is currently Milan’s top scorer, having scored eight times in the league this season.

Manchester City are lining up a move for Newcastle right back Tino Livramento, reports TalkSPORT. Pep Guardiola’s side have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old for “several months,” with City viewing him as a long-term solution on the right side of their defense, where they have deployed versatile midfielder Matheus Nunes this season. Newcastle are still hopeful of securing Livramento to a new contract at St. James’ Park, but he hasn’t indicated a willingness to commit to new terms yet.

– Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade is unhappy at the club, according to Bild. Woltemade, 24, only arrived from VfB Stuttgart for €75 million in August but is already looking to move back to the Bundesliga in the near future, and would be open to either returning to Stuttgart or joining Bayern Munich, who were linked with him in the summer. The 6-foot-6 Germany international has scored 10 goals in 38 games for Newcastle across all competitions this season.

– Talks are progressing between Liverpool and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai regarding a new contract. TEAMtalk reports that the Reds have no plans to part ways with the 25-year-old amid recent links to Real Madrid, and are prepared to “meet all of his demands” to ensure he stays put at Anfield. Szoboszlai has been a standout performer for his side this season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 34 matches across all competitions. His current deal isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2028.
