TRENDING RUMORS

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, according to TeamTalk. It is believed that PSG have made multiple inquiries regarding to ask about future deal for the 25-year-old, and they have asked the Premier League club to keep them updated should a deal for him become possible. Their interest in Haaland is not related to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembélé, who is yet to sign a new contract. It is reported that Dembele’s representatives have made contract with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal to learn whether a switch would be feasible.

Manchester City and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, although the club will demand at least €65 million in any transfer deal, Sport Bild reports. The 22-year-old has linked with multiple clubs in Europe this season, having directly contributed to seven goals in 21 Bundesliga matches.

LA Galaxy are preparing to make an approach for free agent Philippe Coutinho. Diario AS reports that the Major League Soccer club plans to initiate talks with the representatives of the 33-year-old, who announced his exit from Vasco de Gama on Wednesday following mounting pressure from fans. Galaxy are looking to reinforce their squad as they continue to navigate another campaign without midfielder Riqui Puig. The 26-year-old has been ruled out through injury after sustaining a torn ACL in November 2024, and he isn’t expected to return to action until 2027.

Barcelona remain keen on Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, per Diario Sport. The 26-year-old is reportedly one of the top names on the club’s shortlist amid plans to sign a striker, though there is still belief that a deal could be difficult to secure. Meanwhile, Tuttosport reports that Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is prioritising a move to the Barça amid interest from clubs in the Premier League as well as AC Milan, but it looks as though a switch to the Camp Nou would only take place if they fail to land other options. Vlahovic, 26, is set to be out of contract in the summer.

Manchester City attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva is attracting interest from Atlético Madrid, according to TeamTalk. The LaLiga club are reportedly one of the the latest teams to show interest in signing the 31-year-old, who is also on the radar of Juventus and Barcelona. Silva arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Monaco in 2017, and with his contract set to expire in the summer, he has also been linked with a potential switch to the Saudi Pro League.

NM lawmakers wrap ‘consequential’ 30-day session

CONDITIONS IN YOUR AREA WITH THE FREE KOAT APP, AND REMEMBER TO TURN ON ALERTS. NEW MEXICO’S 30 DAY LEGISLATIVE SESSION NOW OVER. THE PRIORITY FOR THESE IS TYPICALLY JUST PASSING A BUDGET. BUT THIS YEAR, LAWMAKERS DID A LOT MORE THAN THAT. ALIYAH CHAVEZ IS LIVE TONIGHT WITH THE OUTCOME OF SOME OF THE BILLS. YOU TOLD US YOU WATCHING CLOSEST. YEAH. DOUG. SHELLY I’M OUTSIDE OF UNIVERSITY STADIUM AND YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING WHY, AS PART OF THIS YEAR’S BUDGET, THIS STADIUM IS SET TO INCLUDE FUNDING FOR A MAJOR RENOVATION. AND IT’S JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF THE CHANGES ACROSS NEW MEXICO AFTER THIS YEAR’S SESSION. THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL SESSIONS WE’VE HAD, AND IT’S A 30 DAY SESSION, WHICH IS IRONIC. NEW MEXICO LAWMAKERS, FRESH OFF THE 2026 LEGISLATIVE SESSION, SAYING EVEN THEY ARE SURPRISED AT HOW MUCH MADE ITS WAY THROUGH THE ROUNDHOUSE AND HOW OFTEN DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS FOUND COMMON GROUND. THEY’RE DELIVERING FOR THE PEOPLE OF NEW MEXICO IN A BIPARTISAN FASHION, AND I AM GRATEFUL TO THEM. ONE OF THE BIGGEST MOVES FUNDING FOR UNIVERSAL CHILD CARE, YEARS IN THE MAKING. BACK THEN, PEOPLE WOULD HAVE LAUGHED AT US HAD WE TALKED ABOUT UNIVERSAL CHILD CARE. THE STATE BUDGET TOTALS $11.1 BILLION, WITH MAJOR INVESTMENTS IN HEALTH CARE, INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC SAFETY. IT ALSO INCLUDES SOME HIGH PROFILE PROJECTS LIKE PLANS TO RENOVATE BOTH UNM AND NMSU FOOTBALL STADIUMS. THEY ACCOMPLISHED QUITE A FEW THINGS, MORE THAN SOME PEOPLE EXPECTED. CHECK YOUR BALLOT IN NOVEMBER, YOU’LL SEE A NEW QUESTION SHOULD LEGISLATORS RECEIVE A SALARY? I REALLY BELIEVE THAT IS SOMETHING THAT’S LONG OVERDUE. NOT EVERYONE AGREES. WE HAVE CITIES THAT LOOK LIKE WAR ZONES, AND ABSOLUTELY THE LAST THING WE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON IS PAYING OURSELVES. IF APPROVED, THE SALARY WILL BE AROUND $67,000 PER YEAR. NEW MEXICO IS CURRENTLY THE ONLY STATE THAT DOES NOT PAY ITS LAWMAKERS. OTHER MEASURES ALSO MOVED FORWARD, INCLUDING A SENATE BILL THAT WOULD REMOVE THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS FOR CERTAIN CHILD SEX CRIMES, ALLOWING VICTIMS TO SEEK JUSTICE. YEARS LATER. WHEN YOU COME FORWARD AND SEEK CARE, WE’RE READY FOR YOU. HOUSE BILL 200 WOULD HELP WORKING FAMILIES BUY THEIR FIRST HOME, OFFERING ZERO INTEREST LOANS UP TO $75,000. A PROPOSAL THAT BARELY MADE IT ACROSS THE FINISH LINE. WITH ABOUT TWO MINUTES TO SPARE. AND THE MONEY’S IN THE BUDGET 15. BUT SOME HIGH PROFILE CRIME BILL DID NOT PASS, INCLUDING THE STOP ILLEGAL GUN TRADE ACT. LAWMAKERS SAY CRIME WILL REMAIN A TOP PRIORITY MOVING FORWARD. HOPEFULLY NO SPECIAL SESSION. AND UNM IS SET TO RECEIVE $28 MILLION TO GET STARTED HERE. AND THEY ALREADY HAVE PLANS TO WORK ON ENTRANCES, CONCESSIONS AND RESTROOMS. LIVE IN ALBUQUERQUE, ALIYAH CHAVEZ. KOAT. ACTION 7 NEWS. THIS WAS BOTH THE GOVERNOR AND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S LAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN THEIR CURRENT ROLES. WELL, SOME OTHER BILLS THAT PASSED INCLUDE REFORMING THE STATE MEDICAL MALPRACTICE LAW, THE IMMIGRANT SAFETY ACT, FORCING DETENTION CENTERS TO GET RID OF CONTRACTS WITH ICE, AND 92 MILLION IN BONDS FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE STATE FAIRGROUNDS REDEVELOPMENT. ANOTHER BILL WE’VE TOLD YOU ABOUT DEALS WITH THE SHARING OF LICENSE PLATE DATA FROM AUTOMATED READERS. IT’S ALSO HEADING TO THE GOVERNOR. THIS IS MEANT TO PREVENT USERS FROM GIVING OR SELLING PRIVATE INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES, SPECIFICALLY, INCLUDING IMMIGRATION STATUS AND WHETHER SOMEONE IS RECEIVING REPRODUCTIVE CARE IN NEW MEXICO. THE STAFF ATTORNEY FOR SOMOS IN PUEBLO UNIDO, AN ORGANIZATION THAT WORKED WITH THE ACLU ON THE BILL, TOLD US LAST WEEK. THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED IN NEW MEXICO. THERE WAS A JURISDICTION FROM POLICE, LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM TEXAS WHO WAS SEEKING INFORMATION ON ONE OF THEIR RESIDENTS WHO CAME TO NEW MEXICO TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO OBTAIN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE. SHERIFF JOHN ALLEN SAYS LICENSE PLATE READERS HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO HIS OFFICE, BUT TOLD US LAST WEEK HE ALSO SUPPORTS THE BILL BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT TO SEE THE INFORMATION THAT’S GATHERED BEING USED INCORRECTLY. I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU’RE DOING IN YOUR BACKYARD, IN YOUR FRONT YARD TO ACTUALLY GO AFTER CRIMES AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE, BUT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE GUIDELINES ARE THERE TO MAKE SURE NOT ONLY LAW ENFORCEMENT IS USING IT CORRECTLY. WE KNOW THE COMMUNITY IS WATCHING, WHICH THEY SHOULD BE, BUT THAT THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT WE’RE DOING. THE BILL DID SEE PUSHBACK FROM SOME REPUBLICANS IN THE HOUSE, INCLUDING REPRESENTATIVE JOHN BLALOCK. HE CALLED IT A MESSAGING BILL TO CHALLENGE THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ON IMMIGRATION LAW. IT PASSED 42 TO 22. EVEN THOUGH THE SESSION HAS ENDED, THE GOVERNOR HAS UNTIL MARCH 11TH TO SIGN OR VETO BILLS. AND IF SHE ISSUES A VETO, SHE HAS TO GIVE AN EXPLANATION. RIGHT NOW, THE GOVERNOR ALSO HAS THE POWER TO POCKET VETO ANY BILL SHE DOESN’T ACT ON IS AUTOMATICALLY VETOED WITHOUT EXPLANATION. LAWMAKERS CAN OVERRIDE THAT WITH A TWO THIRDS MAJORITY. NEW MEXICO IS ONE OF 11 STATES THAT ALLOWS POCKET VETOES, BUT VOTERS WILL DECIDE THIS NOVEMBER WHETHER THAT SHOULD CONTINUE. A PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT WOULD END THE PRACTICE, MAKING BILLS AUTOMATICALLY IF THE MAKING BILLS LAW AUTOMATICALLY. IF THE GOVERNOR TAKES NO ACTION. AND STAY WITH KOAT FOR CONTINUING COVERAGE OF WHICH BILLS THE GOVERNOR SIGNS. Foo Fighters have dropped “Your Favorite Toy,” the titular first single from their upcoming 12th full-length studio album. The track marks the band’s first new music of 2026 and signals a bold sonic shift while remaining unmistakably Foo Fighters.

The album Your Favorite Toy arrives April 24 via Roswell Records/RCA Records. It was recorded at home and co-produced by the band and Oliver Roman, engineered by Roman and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent.

Your Favorite Toy runs as follows:

Alysa Liu’s remarkable comeback from early retirement culminates in Olympic gold

0

Alysa Liu became the first American woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in figure skating in 24 years. The 20-year-old Oakland native delivered an electrifying performance during the women’s free skate program on Thursday to surge atop the podium.

Liu started the day in third place after posting a 76.59 short program score behind Japan’s Ami Nakai and Kaori Sakamoto. As the third-to-last skater of the event, Liu put together a near flawless program while skating to Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park.” She received roars from the crowd as she skated with confidence and ease. The positivity exuded off of her with every jump and artistic sequence, culminating with a career-best score of 226.79.

Liu posted a whopping 150.20 score in the free skate, but had to wait out the programs of Sakamoto and Nakai to learn her fate. However, minor deductions to both Japanese skaters ensured Liu would walk away with gold. Her free skate program was nearly three points higher than the silver medalist, Sakamoto.

“Being able to do it my way on the big stage like this has been my dream,” Liu said after winning gold, via NBC News. “I got to do it in my short [program] in the team event and I got to do it tonight in the free skate. I’m just over the moon. I’m the luckiest girl ever, and I’m really grateful.”

Liu finished with a combined score of 226.79, while her American teammates Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito finished fifth and 12th, respectively. Liu became the first American woman to win an individual gold since Sarah Hughes in 2002 and the eighth American woman overall to accomplish that feat. Earlier in these Games, Liu and Glenn helped the Americans win team gold.

At no point during Liu’s performance did she appear to be bothered by the pressure. Even after she received her score, it was all smiles.

No shocked reaction, no tears of joy. Just pure happiness.

A remarkable comeback for Alysa Liu

It’s the perfect storybook ending for Liu, who briefly — and abruptly — retired from figure skating in 2022 at the age of 16. At the time, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of everything from school classes to entire professional sports seasons, Liu’s local rink in the Bay Area closed. That provided her something she hadn’t had since she started skating at five years old: a break. That forced break from skating made the idea of leaving the sport forever enticing to Liu, and so she walked away.

This wasn’t just any figure skater who decided to call it a career. Liu is a prodigy. She began competing in major competitions at the age of 10. By 13, she became the youngest U.S. women’s national champion ever. At 14, Liu became the youngest skater to win two senior national titles. In 2019, she became the first U.S. female figure skater to land a quadruple jump in an international competition.

Liu was at the peak of her powers. But she was satisfied with everything she had accomplished at the time, and decided to move on.

“It was a crucial time in my life,” Liu told 60 Minutes in an interview before the Olympics began. “I was 16 and college was coming up. Like, I wanted to do so much. I went to Nepal and I trekked to Everest Base Camp. Me and my friends would do tons of road trips. I was really just livin’ it up. I would say it was my best life.”

But after two years of quality time with friends and family, and traveling around the world, Liu got the itch to compete again. In 2024 she made her triumphant return, and surprised many in her ability to essentially pick right back up where she left things with no skill loss.

If Liu was to return, though, she wanted to do things differently.

“I get to pick my own program music,” Liu said. “I get to help with the creative process of the program. If I feel like I’m skating too much, I’ll back down. If I feel like I’m not skating enough I’ll ramp it up. No one’s gonna starve me or tell me what I can and can’t eat.”

2026 Winter Olympics: American figure skater Alysa Liu is an unconventional talent on an improbable path

Her coach, Phillip DiGuglielmo, said she returned to the sport a better skater.

“For many years she was dropped off at the rink,” DiGuglielmo said. “She was told what to do. Now she comes in, and it is all collaborative.”

Since returning in 2024, Liu became a world champion in 2025. That made her the first American woman to win a world title since since Kimmie Meissner in 2006. Liu career has reached new heights in ways she never expected — she’s a gold medalist on the biggest stage.

Team USA wins gold over Canada in women’s hockey overtime thriller at the Winter Olympics

0

Team USA defeated Canada in a stunning 2-1 overtime comeback win at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games to take home their third Olympic gold medal in women’s ice hockey.

After being down 1-0 headed into the third period, the U.S. tied things up late in the period and then Megan Keller scored the game-winner in overtime to avenge their loss in the final match from four years ago. This was the seventh gold medal match, and fifth in a row, between the two hockey powerhouses. It was also the third U.S.-Canada showdown to go to overtime.

Team USA captain Hilary Knight prolonged her final game at the Olympics by sending it to overtime tied 1-all.

Knight deflected Laila Edwards’ shot past Ann-Renee Desbiens with 2:04 left in regulation and the U.S. skating 6 on 5 with goaltender Aerin Frankel pulled for an extra attacker. The goal was her 15th at the Olympics, the most in team history.

“This team’s got so much resolve. Never quit. Always ready to fight and go to battle,” Knight said. “It’s just a testament to the preparation of our group and the love that we have in that room, and the way we found a way to get the job done at the end of the night.”

The sides were playing 3-on-3 to finish a game where fans alternated chants of “USA! and “Ca-na-da!” Keller secured the win on a backhander 4:07 into overtime, breaking up the left wing and pushing past Claire Thompson, driving to the net and beating Ann-Renee Desbiens over her right pad to spark an emotional and teary-eyed celebration.

“I’m lost for words,” Keller said. “This is an incredible feeling. I love these girls so much. This group deserves it. Just the effort and the faith that we kept through this four-year journey is something very special.”

Frankel stopped 30 shots.

Canada had led since Kristin O’Neill scored short-handed less than a minute into the second period, ending the U.S. shutout streak at 352 minutes, 17 seconds. Desbiens and Frankel went save for save in a back-and-forth game that was far more competitive than the rivals’ first meeting in the preliminary round, when the U.S. routed Canada 5-0.

The Americans romped through the tournament, outscoring opponents 33-2.

“We went through ups and downs,” Canadian captain Marie-Philip Poulin said. “Just letting them know this does not define them. I’m proud of them. They showed up. Sadly lost in overtime but keep their head high because it’s truly an honor to be on their side.”

A Team USA that featured a mix of experience and talented and speedy youth delivered on the vision coach John Wroblewski instilled upon taking over four years ago, months after the U.S. lost the gold-medal game to Canada in Beijing.

“In my opinion, I think this is the best hockey team women’s hockey has ever seen,” Kelly Pannek said, noting how the Americans overcame adversity against their fiercest rival.

“I think that’s a part of being a champion, right?” Pannek said. “We knew they were going to respond in the way that they do. And they gave us everything.”

The U.S. and Canada have met in all but one Olympic final — the 2006 Turin Games won by Canada — since women’s hockey made its debut at the 1998 Nagano Games. The loss gives Canada its third silver medal in the event.

Knight, 36, has already announced these will be her U.S.-record fifth and final Games, with a shot at adding a second gold medal to go with her three silvers. The game was played a day after Knight proposed to U.S. speedskater Brittany Bowe.

The defending Olympic champion Canadians had shown signs of age during a tournament in which they lost 5-0 to the Americans in the preliminary round, and eked into the final with a 2-1 win over Switzerland.

The loss to the Americans was the most lopsided and also the first time the Canadian women were shut out in Olympic play.

This was considered a last hurrah for their aging core led by Poulin, aka “Captain Clutch,” who had missed two games — including the loss to the U.S. — with a right knee injury. She declined to discuss her Olympic future.

Meantime, many of her teammates were devastated by the result.

“It’s hard to process right now,” 37-year-old defender Jocelyne Larocque said. “We always had the belief that we could win. I love this group. I love this team. I’m proud of everyone.”

Canada overcame questions about its age and recent sluggish performances by outshooting the U.S. 8-6 in the first period and then taking the lead with O’Neill converting Laura Stacey’s pass on a 2-on-1 break. The Canadians kept pressing their attack and had several chances in overtime.

A minute before Keller’s goal, Sarah Fillier moved up the right wing only to have her shot stopped by Frankel, with the puck landing in the crease.

“It’s overtime. First goal wins. You’ve got to bury it when you have the chance,” Filler said. “It’s tough. You want to win a gold medal with that group. It’s a special group, a lot of veterans.”

The Americans extended their winning streak against Canada to eight. It began with two wins at the world championships in April, including the gold medal game. The U.S. then swept a four-game exhibition series by a combined margin of 26-7.

Earlier, Alina Muller scored 9:09 into overtime for her second bronze-medal clinching goal in Switzerland’s 2-1 win over Sweden 2-1. Muller also scored Switzerland’s decisive goal in a 4-3 win over Sweden in 2014.

Conner Smith Charges Dropped in Fatal Nashville Crash

A Moment of Grace After Tragedy

Conner Smith will not face charges related to the June 2025 car accident that killed 77-year-old Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins.

On Thursday (Feb. 19), the 25-year-old country singer’s attorney confirmed that Smith’s misdemeanor citation was withdrawn at the request of Dobbins’ family, bringing the legal chapter of the case to a close.

A Tragedy That Shook a Community

In a statement to People, Smith’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson IV, called the crash a “profound tragedy” for both Dobbins’ loved ones and the larger Germantown community.

“Over the past several months, Conner has been grateful for the opportunity to get to know Dot’s family personally and to voice his deep and sincere grief,” Robinson said.

“While he is grateful that this legal chapter has concluded, he will continue to steadfastly lift her family up in prayer,” the statement continued.

The Davidson County District Attorney’s Office told WZTV that the citation was officially withdrawn at the family’s request.

What Happened That Night

Dobbins was struck by Smith’s Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on June 8, 2025, while walking in a crosswalk in Nashville. She later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

At the time, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said the preliminary contributing factor “appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian.” Authorities also noted that he showed no signs of impairment.

Smith was issued a misdemeanor citation on July 10 and charged with failure to yield resulting in a fatality. A source close to the situation previously said the misdemeanor charge — rather than a felony — reflected a lack of criminal intent.

Smith’s Public Grief

In the weeks following the accident, Smith spoke publicly about the emotional toll.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, the “Creek Will Rise” singer wrote that his “heart [was] broken in a way I’ve never experienced.”

“Not a day has gone by that I haven’t grieved, prayed, and mourned for Ms. Dobbins and her family,” he shared, asking fans to continue praying for the Dobbins family “by name.”

Now, with the citation withdrawn at the family’s request, the case closes on the legal side — even as the emotional weight of that day lingers.
