Grocery prices are still inflated and we all feel the strain on our bank accounts every time we exit a grocery store with the receipt in hand.
With that in mind, I think we should take a look under the hood and see which grocery chains shake out to be the cheapest. Surprisingly enough, Walmart did not make the cut.
Keep in mind that Walmart is the largest grocery chain nationwide, with 4,600 stores across all 50 states, so it is used as a comparison point to the six cheapest grocery chains.
What are the Six Cheapest Grocery Chains in America?
According to The Kitchn, taking a look at groceries prices at dozens of retailers during late summer 2025 across six major cities shows clear winners when it comes to saving you money, and they are all cheaper than what is perceived by most to be the cheapest, Walmart.
Costco is 21.4% cheaper than Walmart.
BJ’s is 21% cheaper than Walmart.
Lidl is it’s 8.5% cheaper than Walmart.
Aldi is 8.3% cheaper than Walmart.
WinCo is 3.3% cheaper than Walmart.
H-E-B is 0.2% cheaper than Walmart.
While these six grocery chains are all spread out geographically, for the most part, there is one that can be found in most states — Costco.
Costco, as you know, is membership-only, so you have to pay a yearly fee to shop there. That could ultimately sway the numbers, but not likely enough to damage their position as the cheapest grocer, since their lead is so far ahead of the others.
There are only three states in America that are sans a Costco.

They’ve picked up three wins, four draws and just one defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions.
Leeds lost 4-0 to Arsenal on Jan. 31 but are unbeaten in February, so the players should be full of confidence right now. However, they face a stern test of their mettle against Pep Guardiola’s rejuvenated Man City team.
Semenyo signing revitalizes Man City’s attack
Man City are back in the Premier League title race after winning their last three games. They beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, cruised to a 3-0 victory over Fulham, then beat Newcastle 2-1 at home last weekend.
They’re now just five points behind league leaders Arsenal, but they have a game in hand. The title race could go down to the wire, so this is a must-win game for Man City. The Citizens have won five games in a row in all competitions. They’re unbeaten since losing to Man United in mid-January, so they’re building momentum at the perfect time in the season.
City’s season was faltering, but the club made two shrewd signings in the January transfer window. Antoine Semenyo, the standout attacking player in the Premier League this season, joined from Bournemouth. City then bolstered their defense by snapping up Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
The results have been immediate. They now look stronger at the back and more dangerous in attack, so they look well-placed to win another Premier League title this season. However, their away form has been their Achilles’ heel. Man City have only won six of their 13 away games this season, with 22 goals scored and 16 conceded.
They beat Liverpool at Anfield in their last away match, but they were winless in their previous three away games — a 2-2 draw with Spurs, a 2-0 defeat to Man United, and a 0-0 draw with Sunderland. City also lost 3-1 on the road against Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League, so they don’t travel well. They’ll need big performances from key players like Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, and Gianluigi Donnarumma if they’re to beat Leeds at Elland Road.
Leeds are strong at home
Elland Road has been a fortress for Leeds this season. They’ve picked up 1.69 points per game at home (six wins, four draws, three defeats).
By contrast, Leeds have only earned 0.64 points per game on the road (one win, six draws, seven defeats). It shows just how crucial the Elland Road crowd is for this team. The home fans create a raucous, intimidating atmosphere, which the Leeds players feed on in big games. Farke’s men have taken four wins, two draws, and just two defeats from their last eight home games.
That’s why they’re now six points clear of the relegation zone. They look capable of avoiding relegation, but they need to keep picking up points at Elland Road.
Leeds only have six home matches remaining this season, so this will be another crucial game for the team. Farke is only missing one player, forward Noah Okafor, so he will field a strong starting XI for this game.
The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Brendan Aaronson could cause problems for a Man City team that has only kept four clean sheets on the road this season. However, it’s hard to see Leeds keeping Haaland, Semenyo, Rayan Cherki, Tijani Reijnders, Nico O’Reilly, Omar Marmoush, and Phil Foden at bay for 90 minutes.
It finished 3-2 to Man City when these teams met in Manchester earlier this season, and both teams to score should pay off again at Elland Road this weekend.
Haaland has scored three goals in his last two games. He’s up to 42 goals in 43 matches for club and country this season, so he looks well-priced to find the back of the net on Saturday.
WASHINGTON — At least nine investigations have begun in eight countries and within the European Union’s anti-fraud unit following the release by the U.S. Justice Department of millions of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In the U.S., not so much.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has said the case remains open. But according to a Justice Department and FBI memo last year, the department underwent an “exhaustive review” of materials related to Epstein, who was arrested in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors and died in federal custody in what was ruled a suicide. There was no evidence of an “incriminating ‘client list’” or evidence that would lead to additional prosecutions of third parties, the memo said. Justice Department officials have said they complied with the law and did all that was required of them.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche recently put it more bluntly: The review is over.
Yet the publication of more than 3.5 million documents has prompted a global reckoning, including the arrests in the U.K. of both the former Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the U.S., on suspicion of misconduct in office. The former prime minister of Norway has been charged with aggravated corruption. All deny the allegations, which were not connected to the sex abuse charges against Epstein but were uncovered because of their presence in the files.
And the investigations are raising questions about why the Trump administration isn’t doing more.
“Right now, the government in charge has no interest in pursuing this, whereas the governments in other countries, or the authorities in other countries, for whatever reasons, do,” said Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor in New York and former district attorney for Westchester County.
There are hurdles to any new investigation. While there is no federal statute of limitations for criminal child sex abuse or sex trafficking, there are limitations on when someone can be charged with most other federal crimes in the U.S., usually between five and 10 years. And allegations or details uncovered in the Epstein documents may be salacious or troubling, but might not rise to the level of chargeable criminal conduct. Laws overseas are different; the U.K., for example, has no statute of limitations for crimes triable by a jury.
Yet legal experts and survivors of Epstein’s abuse say there is still much more the Justice Department could uncover. There are still more documents that have not been publicly released and some that appear to be missing, including 54 pages of summaries and notes from three FBI interviews with a woman who had also made an allegation against Donald Trump. He has denied any wrongdoing.After the files were flagged by news outlets, Justice Department officials said they would review to see if any should be released.
“As with all documents that have been flagged by the public, the department is currently reviewing files within that category of the production,” the DOJ said in a statement on X.

The release of the files under a federal law signed by Trump was a major departure from typical Justice Department procedures; never before has such a trove of investigative detail been made public. Congress also forced the Epstein estate to release documents related to his business and personal dealings.
The trove of documents increasingly paint a picture of a vast network that facilitated Epstein’s abuse, from financial institutions to doctor’s offices. Scores of rich and powerful people appear in the files but say they did not know what he was up to; at least 20 have left their jobs or been fired as a result.
The allegations against Epstein began in Florida in 2005, after parents of a 14-year-old girl say he paid her for a massage. By 2007, a 60-countfederalindictment had been drafted. But in 2008, Epstein struck an agreement to plead guilty to lesser charges and got an 18-month sentence.
The much-criticized deal included a nonprosecution agreement that meant the case against Epstein and his potential co-conspirators was done. The victims weren’t told about the resolution to the case before it was signed.
“If they were able to commit the most heinous crime out there, what else could they have committed? Why aren’t we following the money? Why aren’t we taking more action?” asked Sky Roberts, the brother of Virginia Roberts Giuffre, one of the earliest and loudest voices calling for criminal charges against Epstein and his enablers. Giuffre was the first to raise claims against the former Prince Andrew, which he denied. She died by suicide last year.
“We should be opening the investigations, and we should be subpoenaing their flight records. They should be subpoenaing their bank account records and start combing through those, and let’s see what’s there,” Roberts said.

Redactions of tens of thousands of names and places in the files make it hard to decipher who may have played a role in enabling Epstein.
“The Justice Department’s job is to follow the facts and follow the law and not to protect anyone, whether it’s wealthy men, whether it’s well-connected men, that does not matter,” said Joyce Vance, a former federal prosecutor. “‘Without fear or favor.’ Those aren’t just words. That’s the job. And it’s not being done here. The victims, the survivors, deserve better than what they’re getting from this Justice Department.”
At least one criminal investigation is open in the U.S., in New Mexico, on allegations of criminal activity at Epstein’s Zorro Ranch.
New Mexico officials say they’re seeking immediate access to the unredacted files. U.K. officials, too, said they were working with overseas law enforcement in order to aid in their investigations.
New probes have been launched across Europe that focus on individuals who were associated with Epstein or that are looking into trafficking or financial networks, or both.
Thorbjørn Jagland, who was prime minister of Norway in the 1990s and went on to head the Nobel Committee and the Council of Europe, was charged in February following searches of his home in connection with Epstein file disclosures. Authorities are also scrutinizing possible ties to the files including in Britain, France, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Slovakia. The European Union’s anti-fraud office is investigating Mandelson.
During a combative congressional hearing earlier this month, Bondi said there were pending investigations related to Epstein, though it wasn’t clear what or who she was referring to. Last year, Bondi’s office quickly acquiesced when Trump used his social media platform to call on the Justice Department to investigate Democrats over their affiliations with Epstein.
Blanche, during a news conference about the release of the documents, argued there is “mantra out there that, oh, you know, the Department of Justice is supposed to protect Donald J. Trump,” but he said that the DOJ was “always concerned about the victims.”
For the survivors, their best shot at accountability may come from Congress. Even with Republicans in power, Congress has driven the effort to keep the investigation alive; it passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which led to the release of the files, and held depositions with a number of prominent people connected to them, including Hillary Clinton, and on Friday, Bill Clinton.
But the Republican leadership has stopped short of calling for continued criminal investigations or pushing for more documents.
Democrats have promised to step up investigative efforts if they win back the majority in Congress, giving them subpoena power that would allow them to force witness interviews, collect documents and conduct extensive investigations.
While Congress does not have the power to prosecute, lawmakers could make criminal referrals to law enforcement agencies and make their findings public.
“When DOJ says that there is nothing to investigate, we, the American people, must rise up,” said Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash. “It is the voices of the survivors ringing through in the darkness of all of this horror that has gotten us this far, and in speaking to so many of them myself, I know that this effort is not just for them.”
Congress also has the power to change law; Democrats recently introduced “Virginia’s Law” named in honor of Giuffre, who was one of the first Epstein survivors to come forward. The law eliminates the statute of limitations on civil claims for adult survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking.
Marina Lacerda, who was referred to as “minor victim 1” in court documents and who has publicly shared her experience of abuse, called for full transparency and said it’s up to everyone to stop the cycle of abuse uncovered by the files.
“What are we doing as Americans?” She asked. “Because we need to take this a little bit more serious.”

Eric Church is opening up about his brother’s death in a new interview, revealing how words of wisdom from Vince Gill helped him deal with the grief.
How Did Eric Church’s Brother Die?
Church’s brother, Brandon, died in June of 2018 at the age of 36. His cause of death was consequences of chronic alcoholism.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper on his All There Is With Anderson Cooper podcast, Church says Gill called him up “two or three days after my brother died,” even though they did not know each other well at the time.

Gill’s brother, Bob, died in 1993 after suffering a heart attack, and Church says Gill offered him some hard-earned wisdom about what he was going through.
“And he actually was the first one that said to me, ‘You don’t understand this now, but you’re never going to be the same. Your mom and dad are never going to be the same. Your sister’s never going to be the same. Y’all are never going to be the same as a unit.”
Gill told Church that the “quicker you understand that, the better you’ll deal with it,” but Church admits he “didn’t get it” at first.
“I was sitting there thinking, ‘Well, it was grief. We’ve always been the family.’ But looking back on it, he’s exactly right,” Church observes.
“It never is the same. When something like that happens, it changes everything. And it becomes a new normal.”
Church tells Cooper that when it got too difficult in his early days in Nashville and he was ready to throw in the towel and move back home to North Carolina, Brandon moved to Nashville to support his dream.
“He wouldn’t let me go,” he recalls.
“He said, ‘No, you’re not. You don’t come here. I’ll come to you.’ And he moved out and it kept me in town,” Church states.
“A year later, things started to kind of happen, but I don’t tell a lot of people that, but I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him doing that, because that was an ultimate commitment. He dropped everything.”

JACK OHMAN WAS anxious last spring. Not because he was a freshman navigating his first collegiate baseball season. Not because his dominance — and scoreless innings streak — was making national headlines. Not because his classes at Yale were overwhelming.
It was because his phone was blowing up. Nonstop.
Name-brand college programs, realizing the 6-foot right-hander, who barely pitched in high school, was the real deal, were trying to convince him to transfer, with promises that they were the right place for his development and bank account. Agents, seeing dollar signs, thirsted to represent the pitcher who had crashed on the national scene possessing a mid-90s fastball with elite carry. Friends and family constantly pinged him to ask if — and where — he was going to transfer.
Ohman admitted he considered leaving the Ivy League for a Power 4 school. And who would blame him? The facilities to improve his skill set there are palatial. The exposure to reach the pros is brighter. The money — unlocked by recent advances in players capitalizing on their name, image and likeness — is tempting.
With rules relaxed in recent years, the transfer portal has made player movement far more common and ethics optional. As Ohman became a top target for the best programs, the onslaught became so intense that his father, Will, considered changing Jack’s phone number.
“The noise was incredible,” said Will Ohman, a former major league left-hander who made 483 relief appearances across 10 seasons.
But Jack Ohman didn’t switch phone numbers — and he didn’t transfer. He notified his coaches last spring, in the midst of one of the greatest freshman seasons in NCAA history, that he was staying in New Haven.
“I talked to a lot of people about it because I didn’t know what to do exactly,” Ohman said. “But I think what fueled my decision was it’s a great group of guys I’m very, very close with. It’s more of a loyalty thing. I think that’s a little bit of a forgotten trait, I guess, in college sports. You don’t see it very often. But I think it’s huge.”
Ohman finished the season with a 1.34 ERA, tops in the nation, across 73⅔ innings, as Yale went 31-14 and won the Ivy League regular-season title. He was named a second-team All-American — the first Yale baseball player to earn an All-America nod since Ryan Lavarnway, a future big league catcher, in 2007 — while vaulting from unknown to a potential first-round pick in Major League Baseball’s 2027 draft.
Last Friday, he launched his sophomore campaign by holding Bethune-Cookman to one earned run in five innings and striking out 10 in Yale’s season-opening loss, putting the Ivy League — and the country — on notice again.
“My coaches took a flier on me,” Ohman, 20, said. “It happened to work out. I became a great pitcher. It would be a little bit disrespectful if I up and left after one year and just threw that all to the wayside because they took a risk on recruiting me. And I’m glad that risk paid off.”
OHMAN WAS ALMOST exclusively a position player at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix. He was a utility man and batted nearly .400 as the team’s leadoff hitter his senior season. He moonlighted as a spot starter and closer, logging 18 innings as a junior and 25 innings his senior season. He showed flashes on the mound but lacked consistency. And yet his father believed he would go furthest as a pitcher.
“It was very obvious, to me, that the ceiling was much higher as a pitcher,” Will Ohman said. “There’s a lot of 6-foot, 170-pound college players. You have to look for separators. His arm was his separator.”
Will Ohman, who runs a baseball training facility in Phoenix, didn’t send his son to showcases until he believed he had sufficient skills to display. So his son attended just two. Yale pitching coach Chris Wojick, also the program’s recruiting coordinator, first saw Ohman pitch at one of them — a showcase for academic standouts the fall before his senior season.
Hardly recruited, Ohman made two official visits to schools: Seattle University and Yale. He committed to Yale soon after traveling to Connecticut. Success did not appear imminent.
“When he arrived at Yale,” Bulldogs head coach Brian Hamm said, “he still had a ways to go in terms of being able to pitch at the college level, let alone make an impact.”
Ohman, according to Wojick, was the worst pitcher on the Bulldogs’ roster during fall workouts in 2024.
His delivery began with a high leg kick resembling former major leaguer Bronson Arroyo that made repeating his delivery difficult, rendering his command inconsistent. He didn’t throw enough strikes, certainly not enough to start games in the Ivy League. His best off-speed pitch was a loopy curveball that popped out of his hand for hitters to recognize and crush — on the rare occasion it found the strike zone.
Then Ohman returned to campus after winter break as a different pitcher.
“The first pitch he threw in live indoor sessions in January was 96 [mph],” Wojick said. “And he was like 91, 92 in the fall. I remember going to our hitting coach, like, ‘Hey come here.’ After that, I sat down with the coaching staff and was like, ‘Hey, Jack’s no longer hitting. He’s going to pitch for us now.’
Ohman eliminated the leg kick, creating a more compact delivery that was easier to repeat. He was stronger from the regular workouts that come with being a Division I athlete. But his curveball was still a problem. He wanted to continue featuring it. Wojick wanted him to try a slider. So in early February, with the season opener around the corner, Wojick sat Ohman down and gave him an ultimatum: Listen to me and become a weekend starter or stay on this path and pitch the fifth inning of inconsequential midweek games.
“It was like, ‘You’re going to pitch garbage innings, period,'” Ohman said. “Like, ‘You suck and we have to pitch you and we have to develop you. But, yeah, you’re going to pitch garbage innings.’ He was trying to light a fire under me and I appreciate that. Clearly, it worked.”
Two days later, Wojick said, Ohman, whose feel for the game as the son of a former major leaguer draws rave reviews, learned a new slider in 10 minutes. The first one he threw during live batting practice was clubbed for a home run. But Ohman made a slight adjustment and struck out the next five hitters. He took the pitch into his first career outing, in relief against Queens University, and notched four strikeouts over 2⅓ innings.
The pitch was different enough from his fastball to generate misses, but Ohman thought there was more room for improvement. So he slightly changed the grip again for his next appearance. The plan was for him to come out of the bullpen again. But when Yale’s scheduled starter for its series finale against The Citadel was too sick to pitch, Wojick told Ohman that morning he was getting the ball.
“My coach came up to me and he’s like, ‘Hey, just give me one inning,'” Ohman recalled. “‘Then we’ll reevaluate. We’re using you as an opener.'”
The pitching plan for that day — and the season — quickly changed. Ohman allowed one hit, walked two and struck out five over five scoreless frames. He earned a rotation spot with the start and did not slow down. Behind the new slider and a mid-90s fastball that, according to Wojick, features an average of 22 inches of induced vertical break — comparable to New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole‘s offering — Ohman didn’t surrender a run over his first 35⅓ innings.
“He kind of Wally Pipp’d the guy that was our starter,” Wojick said. “And then we went from there.”
OHMAN MADE HIS second career start in Yale’s series finale at Rice, where his twin sister Annabel studies physics. With his family in the stands, Ohman shut down the Owls. He yielded three unearned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts across seven innings in Yale’s series-sweeping win.
“It was his big I’m-on-the-scene game,” Will Ohman said. “It was a family reunion. We’re sitting in the stands and he just goes off. And I was like, ‘Oh, my. What I’ve seen on TV, I have seen now live. I can confirm it. Things are going well.'”
Ohman surrendered his first earned run in his sixth start — and seventh appearance — against Brown to snap his streak of 35⅓ scoreless innings to begin his career. By then he had sprung into national prominence.
“Every team in the top 25 was calling me asking if he’s going to go into the portal,” Brophy Prep head baseball coach Josh Garcia said.
The calls and messages flooded Ohman’s phone. SEC coaches, Wojick said, reached out from burners. Agents attempted to persuade him to hop into the portal with them as his representation. The spotlight quickly sprouted from flattering to distracting.
“It was actually getting pretty out of control,” Wojick said. “I would tell you there’s a Big 12 team that was the most aggressive, to the point where they offered his high school coach money to get him into the transfer portal, then offered him a job on their staff if he got him to transfer to that school, plus NIL money.”
Ohman said he made his decision to stay before the end of the season. The accolades soon followed. He was named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year, the Perfect Game Freshman Pitcher of the Year, a freshman All-American and a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. When the dust settled, he was in the top 10 of Baseball America’s 2027 MLB draft board.
“I’m extremely proud of him,” Will Ohman said. “He has some really interesting stuff, and we’re going to find out over time if it plays.”
An economics major, Ohman wants to work in baseball when his playing career is over, whenever that is, and hopes to one day become an MLB general manager. To put him on track, he was connected with Theo Epstein, a Yale alum and the architect of two curse-breaking World Series titles in Boston and Chicago, and Ohman has picked his brain.
For now, he’s focused on pitching. While he might pinch hit or enter games as a defensive replacement, most of his work will continue to be on the mound. Yale and Columbia are the favorites to win the Ivy League. Individual expectations are high for Ohman too. He was a consensus preseason All-American and landed on the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list. He plans on throwing a kick change, a pitch he added to his arsenal last season, more often. Wojick called the pitch “a game changer.”
Last week’s returns were promising. On Friday, he’ll pitch at Pepperdine, his father’s alma mater, in front of his family again. And he’ll do it in a Yale uniform.
“My goal for this season is to prove that I developed last year as a pitcher,” Ohman said. “I’m so much better. I’m a lot better pitcher now than I was a year ago — as I should be.”

“A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world. For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted “Death to America” and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder, targeting the United States, our troops and innocent people in many, many countries.
Among the regime’s very first acts was to back a violent takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of American hostages for 444 days. In 1983, Iran’s proxies carried out the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut that killed 241 American military personnel. In 2000, they knew and were probably involved with the attack on the USS Cole. Many died. Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American service members in Iraq. The regime’s proxies have continued to launch countless attacks against American forces stationed in the Middle East in recent years, as well as U.S. naval and commercial vessels in international shipping lanes. It’s been mass terror, and we’re not going to put up with it any longer.
From Lebanon to Yemen, and Syria to Iraq, the regime has armed, trained and funded terrorist militias that have soaked the earth with blood and guts. And it was Iran’s proxy, Hamas, that launched the monstrous October 7 attacks on Israel, slaughtering more than 1000 innocent people, including 46 Americans, while taking 12 of our citizens hostage. It was brutal. Something like the world has never seen before.
Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terror, and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested. It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again. They can never have a nuclear weapon.
That is why, in operation midnight hammer last June, we obliterated the regime’s nuclear program at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we sought repeatedly to make a deal. We tried. They wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. Again, they wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. They didn’t know what was happening. They just wanted to practice evil.
But Iran refused, just as it has for decades and decades, they rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore.
Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and to continue developing long range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas, and could soon reach the American homeland. Just imagine how emboldened this regime would be if they ever had, and actually were armed with, nuclear weapons as a means to deliver their message.
For these reasons, the United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We are going to destroy their missiles and raise their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally, again, obliterated.
We’re going to annihilate their navy. We’re going to ensure that the region’s terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces and no longer use their IEDs or roadside bombs, as they are sometimes called, to so gravely wound and kill thousands and thousands of people, including many Americans.
And we will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon. It’s a very simple message. They will never have a nuclear weapon.
This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength and might of the United States Armed Forces. I built and rebuilt our military in my first administration, and there is no military on earth even close to its power, strength or sophistication. My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region. Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill. The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties. That often happens in war. But we’re doing this, not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.
We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm’s way, and we trust that, with his help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail. We have the greatest in the world, and they will prevail.
To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity, or in the alternative, face certain death. So lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death.
Finally, to the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be, probably, your only chance for generations.
For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let’s see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force. Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.
