The Best TYPE O NEGATIVE Deep Cut From Every Album

0

Few bands embodied gothic metal’s sensual gloom quite like Type O Negative. Formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1989, the band carved out a sound that was equal parts doom-laden metal, dark humor, and tragic romance.

Their lyrical preoccupation with love, depression and death earned them the tongue-in-cheek nickname “the Drab Four,” a playful nod to the Beatles‘ Fab Four moniker.

Type O Negative broke through commercially with 1993’s Bloody Kisses, which went platinum and transformed them from underground curiosities into unlikely MTV staples. The follow-up, October Rust, went gold and deepened their reputation for lush, melancholic songwriting wrapped in crushing riffs and cathedral-sized atmospheres.

Across seven studio albums, two best-of compilations and multiple concert DVDs, the band cultivated a fiercely loyal fanbase drawn to Steele‘s towering presence and sardonic wit.

On April 14, 2010, Peter Steele died at the age of 48. Reports have cited heart failure brought on by an aortic aneurysm, while others list sepsis caused by diverticulitis. His passing marked the end of an era. Seven months later, the surviving members confirmed they would not continue as Type O Negative.

“Xero Tolerance” – Slow, Deep and Hard (1991)

“Kill You Tonight” – The Origin of the Feces (1992)

“Can’t Lose You” – Bloody Kisses (1993)

“Red Water (Christmas Mourning)” – October Rust (1996)

“Creepy Green Light” – World Coming Down (1999)

“It’s Never Enough” – The Least Worst Of (2000)

“(We Were) Electrocute” – Life Is Killing Me (2003)

“An Ode To Locksmiths” – Dead Again (2007)

How UCLA women’s basketball stars pulled off a halftime dance team cameo

0

Before kicking off their March Madness run, three UCLA women’s basketball players high kicked their way onto the UCLA dance team for a special halftime performance during the UCLA men’s basketball team game against Nebraska on Tuesday night.

It all started with a YouTube video on Bruins guard Charlisse Leger-Walker‘s channel. The graduate student joined forces with her teammate and senior guard Gabriela Jaquez to challenge the UCLA dance team to teach them an entire halftime routine in just 24 hours.

The catch? Leger-Walker proclaimed that if the video received 1,000 likes, she would perform the routine alongside some of her teammates during a men’s basketball game halftime show.

Over 10,000 views later, Leger-Walker and Jaquez recruited teammate Lauren Betts and showed off their dancing skills in front of a crowd at Pauley Pavilion.

“Lauren and I have been wanting to take a dance class in L.A. for a long time,” Jaquez told ESPN. “We both grew up dancing, and we love to dance in the locker room and stuff. But this wasn’t just like a TikTok dance, it was the real thing. So when Charlisse came up with this idea, we were all-in.”

On Sunday night, the Bruins ended their regular season undefeated in the Big Ten with an outright conference title. Before leaving for Indianapolis for the Big Ten tournament, the Bruins got to work on their dance routine.

“We only had one day to officially practice before our performance,” Jaquez said. “So we were practicing in the mirror and just preparing any chance we could get.”

Standing front and center in the group of Spirit Squad members, the three members of the Bruins team traded in their basketball shorts for basketball-inspired skorts, their alley-oops for pop and locks, and their boxing out for shaking it out.

“This team is all about fun,” Betts said. “And this is the type of fun that we like to have. We genuinely love doing things like this together. I never thought something like this would happen but here we are. And I think it just shows the type of chemistry that this team has. Like look at us out here dancing and then winning basketball games.”

Perfectly synchronized with the dance team, the women’s basketball team members danced to Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching” for over a minute in front of their teammates and coach Cori Close.

Watching in awe, Close held up her phone to capture the moment and screamed in excitement as her players wowed the crowd.

Next up for the UCLA Bruins basketball team: Maybe “Dancing with the Stars”? Maybe the Rockettes? Maybe a national championship? Only time will tell.

U.S. military now seeking to “raze or level” Iran’s ballistic missile industry, Adm. Cooper says

0

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday the U.S. can “sustain the fight for as long as it takes” as the war against Iran continues for a sixth day, with a top military official indicating the U.S.’s focus will shift to razing Iran’s missile industry.

Hegseth gave a press briefing in Tampa with Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of U.S. Central Command leading U.S. forces in the Middle East. Thursday’s briefing came one day after Hegseth said the mission, named Operation Epic Fury, against Iran was “just getting started.” Hegseth also announced Wednesday that an Iranian warship had been sunk by a U.S. torpedo, the first time the U.S. Navy has sunk a warship with a torpedo since World War II.

Hegseth told reporters Thursday: “Our timeline is ours and ours alone to control.”

He also said the U.S. has “no shortage of munitions.” CBS News reported earlier Thursday that Arab states in the Persian Gulf region are running dangerously low on interceptors to take down Iranian retaliatory attacks.

Cooper said the next phase of the operation will focus in part on trying to “systemically dismantle Iran’s missile production capability for the future.” He said that mission — which is seeking to “raze or level” Iran’s missile industry— is currently underway but will “take some time.”

“We’re not just hitting what they have. We’re destroying their ability to rebuild,” he said.

He said in the last 72 hours, America’s bomber force has struck nearly 200 targets deep inside of Iran, including around Tehran, and on Thursday, B-2 bombers dropped “dozens of 2,000-pound penetrators” targeting deeply buried ballistic missile launchers. According to Cooper, Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks have decreased significantly as the war has progressed.

U.S. forces have now destroyed 30 Iranian vessels, according to Cooper, including a drone carrier that is roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier.

Hegseth told reporters the U.S. is also “establishing total dominance over the skies.”

H.R. McMaster, a CBS News contributor who served as national security advisor in President Trump’s first term, said after the press conference that U.S. strikes on air defenses “you can fly all kinds of aircraft with complete impunity.”

Six U.S. Army Reserve members have been killed in the war with Iran. Hegseth had said the deadly incident happened when an incoming munition hit a tactical operations center in Kuwait.

Hegseth said Thursday the U.S. military will “remember and honor” the six people who were killed by “rededicating ourselves even more fervently to this mission.”

Hegseth is participating in the press conference during a visit to U.S. Central Command headquarters in Tampa. This is the first time Cooper is giving a press briefing since the campaign began over the weekend.

On Monday night, he released a social media video expressing his condolences for the six service members killed over the weekend and gave an operational update on the campaign.

He said the U.S. had struck nearly 2,000 targets with over 2,000 munitions. He said more than 50,000 troops, 200 fighter aircraft, two carrier strike groups, and bombers from the U.S. are participating, “representing the largest buildup by the U.S. in the Middle East in a generation.”

Harper Grace Admits She Faked Her Own Engagement: Here’s Why

0

Fans thought Harper Grace had some major life news.

The rising country singer recently teased what looked like a brand-new engagement — complete with a mystery man, a sparkling diamond ring, and even wedding talk across social media.

But the whole thing turned out to be part of a carefully planned story tied to her new song, “if daddy says no.”

The Engagement That Wasn’t

Grace later revealed that the engagement was never real. Instead, she staged the moment to help fans step directly into the emotional crossroads at the center of the song.

“I think some people are probably going to think I’m crazy for faking my own engagement,” she admitted, per Country Now. “But honestly, I got so into just the artistic take on it because the song means so much to me.”

The Texas native explained that the idea came from a real experience she was navigating while writing the track with Kyle Schlienger and Scott Stepakoff.

At the time, Grace believed she had found the man she might marry — but there was one major complication: Her father wouldn’t give his blessing. Growing up in Texas, that approval meant everything to her.

The Story Behind the Song

In the track, Grace imagines two possible futures: running off with the person she loves or waiting until her father believes it’s the right relationship.

“We could run away in the sunset / He don’t even need to know / But I want him to walk me in a white dress / Give my hand for you to hold,” she sings.

By the second verse, the conflict deepens as she wonders whether her father’s hesitation comes from pride — or fear she might repeat his mistakes.

Turning Real Life Into a Story

Grace said the fake engagement was her way of bringing that emotional moment to life for fans.

The idea all leads into the song’s music video, which features Grace’s real father and a close friend playing the role of the man fans believed she was engaged to.

She also stressed the stunt wasn’t meant to make light of real engagements, saying, “I don’t want to downplay anybody’s real engagement or anybody’s real call-off of an engagement. I want to be married, I want to be a wife, I want to be a mom.”

Still, she admitted the creative idea was too perfect to pass up, adding: “What better way than to fake my engagement?”

Grace joked that the next time fans see a ring on her finger, it will be the real thing.

A Rising Voice in Country

The Dallas, Texas native first appeared on American Idol at just 16 before eventually moving to Nashville to pursue music full-time.

FA Cup fifth schedule, live stream: Chelsea get welcomed to Wrexham

0

As the FA Cup rolls on, the path to the final is becoming clearer with only 16 teams remaining in the competition. Port Vale and Mansfield Town are the lowest clubs in the English pyramid remaining, hailing from League One, while Arsenal and Manchester City are still in the competition, balancing Premier League title and Champions League hopes while trying to also conquer this domestic cup. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of things to watch during an intriguing fifth round of play, like Rob Mac (formerly known as McElhenney) and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham hosting Chelsea with a spot in the next round on the line. While teams rotate in earlier rounds due to balancing so many competitions, when the finish line is in sight, everyone wants a chance to lift that coveted trophy. Here’s what to know:

All eyes are on the Racecourse Ground

With their deepest run in the FA Cup in club history, Wrexham’s Hollywood story moves on in the FA Cup, welcoming a struggling Chelsea side to their ground. Now in the playoff places in the Championship, this is a chance for the Dragons to show that they belong in the Premier League next season, and in Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea, they will face a side susceptible to letdowns.

The Blues are in the middle of a tough stretch, winning a tricky game at Aston Villa in league play while Champions League round of 16 looms, where they’ll face Paris Saint-Germain, so it’s tough to throw their best squad at all of those matches at once. Wrexham may also be dealing with fixture congestion, but these are the kind of cup runs that can fuel promotion up the pyramid, giving Phil Parkinson plenty of reasons to throw everything he can at defeating the Blues.

Can Wolverhampton do it again?

After delivering a shock home victory over Liverpool on Tuesday that could keep the Reds out of Champions League play next season, Rob Edwards may be able to keep things going if he can topple Liverpool twice in a week. While they’ll likely be relegated from the Premier League, Wolves have been an entirely different outfit under Edwards, only losing once in their last six matches in all competitions while taking points off of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa. All while being 11 points from Premier League safety.

Arne Slot has had a strange season in charge of Liverpool, and getting knocked out of the FA Cup would be something else that could make it likely to see changes during the summer that will see plenty of top coaches on the market, including former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Relegation likely while making a cup run?

For the first time in 30 years, Port Vale are in the FA Cup fifth round thanks to knocking off Bristol City on Tuesday. Now, they have quite a task facing Sunderland despite sitting 24th in League 2. Along with Arsenal and Mansfield Town, this is the biggest gap in this round of matches, but even Mansfield are at least midtable, while Port Vale are nine points from safety in the third division. Sunderland have taken the Premier League by storm since getting promoted from the Championship, and they’re pushing for a top-half spot.

Stranger things have happened, and with Port Vale already knocking off a Championship side, who knows? Are the Black Cats next?

Voting passes peacefully in Nepal’s first election since September youth-led protests

0

KATHMANDU, Nepal — Voting was peaceful in Nepal’s first nationwide election Thursday since a violent, youth-led uprising forced the government from power in September.

Turnout was about 60% and only a few minor incidents were reported, according to Nepal’s acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari.

Vote counting would begin immediately after the ballot boxes are collected and transported to counting centers across the Himalayan nation, which could be as early as Thursday night. Results were expected by the weekend. Helicopters will be used to ferry boxes from polling stations in remote mountain villages in the northern region by Friday morning, Bhandari said.

The next administration is expected to inherit daunting challenges. It must deliver on changes demanded by last year’s protests, tackle entrenched corruption and carefully manage ties with its powerful neighbors, India and China.

“I came to vote mainly because of the protest and so many people gave their lives in the hope of a change, in hope of seeing better Nepal,” said Luniva, a first-time voter. “Hopefully, I want to see my country become better by all the sacrifices that have been made.”

Others shared similar hopes that the election could usher in positive change after months of political unrest.

Voters are directly electing 165 members to the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of Parliament. The remaining 110 seats in the 275-member body will be allocated through a proportional representation system, under which political parties nominate lawmakers based on their share of the vote.

The election is widely seen as a three-way contest, shaped by voter frustration over widespread corruption and demands for greater government accountability.

The National Independent Party, founded in 2022, is considered the front-runner, posing a strong challenge to two long-dominant parties: the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist).

The new party’s prime ministerial candidate is rapper-turned-politician Balendra Shah, who won the 2022 Kathmandu mayoral race and emerged as a leading figure in the 2025 uprising that ousted former Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli.

Shah, 35, has rode a wave of public anger toward traditional political parties. He highlighted health and education for poor Nepalis as a key focus of his campaign.

The protests against corruption and poor governance were triggered by a social media ban before snowballing into a popular revolt against the government. Dozens were killed and hundreds injured when protesters attacked government buildings and police opened fire on them.

While the Congress and the Communists retain loyal voter bases, Shah’s party has drawn larger crowds on the campaign trail, highlighting its growing appeal among younger voters seeking an alternative.

There are about 19 million registered voters among the country’s nearly 30 million people, according to the Election Commission of Nepal.

Millions of Nepalis living overseas are unable to take part in the vote. An estimated 3 million citizens work abroad — largely in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and neighboring India — and cannot cast ballots because the country does not yet have a system allowing voting from abroad.
