Studios are making fewer movies and shows than they did just a few years ago. The ones they do make are increasingly being shot outside the U.S.

Bulls cut Jaden Ivey after former top-five NBA draft pick posts anti-LGBTQ remarks

The Chicago Bulls have waived former top-five NBA draft pick Jaden Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Ivey posted a nearly hour-long rant on Instagram on Monday, sharing anti-LGBTQ sentiments, among other remarks.
Ivey has posted several lengthy rants on social media over the last few days, talking primarily about his religion. In his most recent post shared to Instagram on Monday morning, Ivey discussed how the NBA celebrating Pride Month is “unrighteous,” while also sharing inflammatory comments about abortion.
In the same video, Ivey shared how listening to certain music is “wicked” for lyrics about drugs and sex. He specifically cited rapper 50 Cent as an example.
Ivey was traded to the Chicago Bulls from the Detroit Pistons at the February deadline, but played just four games before being shut down for the remainder of the season on March 26 to continue rehabbing from left knee pain.
Prior to being traded to the Bulls, Ivey spent his first three-and-a-half NBA seasons with the Pistons. His first two seasons in the league were positive, as he averaged 15.8 points while starting alongside Cade Cunningham in the backcourt. He played in over 70 games in his first two seasons, but injuries quickly derailed his development.
Ivey suffered a broken left fibula in January 2025, limiting him to just 30 games last season. He returned in November, but struggled to regain his form prior to the injury. He slowly began to fell out of Detroit’s rotation before being traded to the Bulls.
After joining the Bulls, Ivey told media after a game in February about how the “Old Jaden Ivey” is dead, now that “Christ was in his life.”
Activists in Haiti say at least 30 people are dead after a gang attacks a town again
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — At least 30 people were dead and dozens more missing on Monday after a gang renewed its attack on a town in central Haiti, according to human rights activists.
Gran Grif attacked Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite early Sunday, burning homes and leaving bodies strewn on the streets. The gang attacked again on Monday, said Bertide Horace, spokesperson for the Commission for Dialogue, Reconciliation and Awareness to Save the Artibonite, an activist group.
She told The Associated Press that the gang remained in control of the Jean-Denis neighborhood and set up roadblocks.
“The area is completely deserted,” she said by phone. “Only the gangs have control.”
She said her organization has collected at least 30 bodies and was investigating reports of people missing.
“Communication is very bad over there,” she noted.
Antonal Mortimé, a human rights lawyer and co-executive director of the Défenseurs Plus human rights group, told Radio Caraïbes that 70 people were believed killed, based on reports from activists on the ground.
Haiti’s National Police said officers backed by Kenyan police leading a U.N.-supported mission helped rescue people in the Jean-Denis neighborhood but were delayed because gangs had dug large holes to prevent police from entering.
Police in a statement reported at least 16 people killed and 10 others injured by gunfire.
Estimates of people killed and injured can vary wildly in the immediate aftermath of gang attacks in Haiti because of limited communication and authorities’ inability to enter the area.
Gangs control an estimated 90% of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and have seized control of swaths of land in Haiti’s central region.
The United Nations human rights office earlier this year called gangs’ consolidation of control in the capital and neighboring areas “unprecedented,” and said more than 5,500 people were killed in Haiti from March 1, 2025, to Jan. 15.
Gran Grif, the largest gang operating in the Artibonite region, attacked Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite nearly a year ago, forcing dozens of people to swim and wade across the country’s longest river to escape.
Gran Grif also was blamed for an attack in the central town of Pont-Sondé in October 2024, where more than 70 people were killed in one of the biggest massacres in Haiti’s recent history.
Gran Grif was formed after Prophane Victor, a former member of Parliament who represented Petite Rivière, began arming young men in the region, according to a U.N. report.

FUNEBRARUM Returns With Devastating New Single, Announces First New Full-Length Since 2009
New Jersey death metal lifers Funebrarum have announced their long-awaited third full-length album, Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence, set to arrive on May 29 via Pulverised Records.
Marking their first new material in seven years, the record sees the underground stalwarts return with what’s being billed as their most fully realized and crushing work to date – a release that doubles down on their reputation as torchbearers of cavernous, doom-laden death metal rooted firmly in the late-’80s and early-’90s tradition.
Commenting on the album, the band said: “We, Funebrarum are stoked to be sharing our third offering, Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence with the world. We are proud of the work overall and the final result. We look forward to desecrating stages worldwide with the new material.”
Formed in 1999, Funebrarum carved out a devoted following with early releases Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods and The Sleep of Morbid Dreams, before re-emerging in 2015 with a refreshed lineup and the Exhumation of the Ancient EP.
After years of writing across continents – and a pandemic-era pause – the band now return with a record tracked between Portland, Oregon and Edison, New Jersey, alongside engineer Steven Di Acutis, capturing their signature suffocating atmosphere at its most ominous.
To mark the announcement, the five-piece have unveiled the first taste of the album with new single “Anhela Odor Mortuorum (The Adepts)”. In short, it’s a fucking killer.
Speaking about the track, the band added: “‘Anhela Odor Mortuorum (The Adepts)’ is a track we completed while on tour in Mexico several years ago. The song was written, mostly, by our bassist, Winslow. It is a great track that we enjoy playing live. It outlines the ancient journey of an occultist deep in connection to and in contemplation of, the shadowed mysteries.”
