Worker injured in possible explosion at TSMC plant

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

PHOENIX — A man has serious injuries after a reported explosion at the TSMC plant in north Phoenix, according to officials with the Phoenix Fire Department.

The situation happened just after 2:30 p.m. near I-17 and Loop 303. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

TSMC released a statement late Wednesday and said the man was a waste disposal truck driver and not a TSMC employee or onsite construction worker.

The full statement is below:  

We are aware of an incident that occurred today at our Arizona construction site whereby a waste disposal truck driver was transported to a local hospital. No TSMC employees or onsite construction workers have reported any related injuries. There was no damage to our facilities. We are working closely with local authorities. This is an active investigation, and no additional details can be shared at this time.

No other information was given and officials are actively investigating the scene.
