RIO RANCHO, N.M.

Northbound traffic along NM-528 in Rio Rancho is being diverted due to a water main break in the area.

According to Rio Rancho Police, northbound traffic is being diverted from NM-528 onto Grande Vista Road Northeast. Drivers will then take Grande Vista Rd. to Gadwell Road Northeast to Sandia Vista Road Northeast.

A free water distribution event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for anyone affected by the water main break. Free bottles of water and water buckets will be available at Fire Rescue Station #7, located at 641 Rockaway Boulevard Northeast.

It is not known how long NM-528 will be closed in that area. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
