On the evening of July 23, multi-platinum occult rock sensation Ghost brought their theatrical flair and genre-blending sound to late-night television with a captivating performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Performing live from Studio 6B at New York City’s iconic Rockefeller Center, Ghost took full advantage of a break in their North American Skeletour to showcase “Lachryma” from their most recent record, Skeletá.
Surely there are a bunch of whiny religious zealots crying about a “Satanic” performance floating around online, but whatever – fuck ’em.
Skeletá marked a major milestone for the band Ghost, becoming their first album to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200. In its first week, it sold 86,000 album-equivalent units, with a remarkable 77,000 being traditional sales—around 44,000 of which were vinyl. This achievement made Skeletá the first rock or hard rock album to top the Billboard 200 since AC/DC‘s Power Up in 2020. It also broke the record for the highest vinyl sales week for a hard rock album in the modern era.
Ghost is currently out there kicking ass on their world tour, which just started on April 15. Tickets are available here.
