A woman is facing charges in Washington State after she allegedly tried to run over a child on a dirt bike.

It happened April 28 in the 7500 block of S. Fruitvale Road in Spokane. Officials with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office released video of the incident this week.

Wendy Clemente, 56, was arrested on multiple charges, including first-degree attempted assault, DUI and criminal trespass.

Cellphone video taken by a neighbor shows a silver Ford Focus driving down a residential street. A child on a dirt bike was seen driving ahead of her.

The driver honks the horn multiple times, then swerved toward the child, video shows.

The child on the dirt bike then rides away from the driver and onto the sidewalk.

That’s when the vehicle hopped the curb and drove on the sidewalk, chasing after the child, narrowly missing a fire hydrant and shrubbery.

“This woman is crazy,” the neighbor can be heard saying on video.

The driver then reentered the road and drove off. The child was uninjured.

The video is only half of the story, deputies say. A short time later, officials say they received a report of a possible burglary about a mile away.

A homeowner, who was not home at the time, apparently called authorities, saying a woman was seen on a live security system attempting to open the door to their home.

Officials say they went to the home in question, found Clemente in her silver Ford Focus parked in the driveway and arrested her at the scene.

According to a press release, Clemente told authorities she took her dog for a ride, “searching for other dogs to socialize with. She noticed the (homeowner’s) dogs in a fenced yard and stopped.” She apparently denied trying to enter the home, officials said, and said she did not remember the earlier incident on Fruitvale Road.

Authorities say there were indicators that Clemente was impaired, and she later admitted to drinking alcohol. She also tried to kick a deputy when being placed into a patrol car, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

She was arraigned in court the following day and was later released on her own recognizance.
