The University of New Mexico’s Police Department has a new home.

On Tuesday, University officials opened the new facility, located at the corner of University Boulevard NE and Mesa Vista Road NE. UNMPD’s new home is expected to help increase police visibility.

“This new building provides UNM police with the tools they need to do their jobs well,” said UNM President Steve Goldstein. “It features a state-of-the-art dispatch center, modernized public spaces, and amenities that support the preparedness of our officers.”

The new headquarters is the latest in a series of measures the University has taken to prioritize safety on campus. The University has also implemented the UNM Safe app and expanded lighting on campus in recent months.
