ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Scottre Humprey has a new team and a new league to try and conquer. The FCS All-American running back and Montana State transfer is ready to make his mark at New Mexico and show the Mountain West that he is one of the best in the league. Humphrey will start his first season in the Mountain West with preseason all-conference recognition.
“I love expectations,” said Humphrey. “Being one of the top backs in the league, I will prove that I’m a top back in the league. My confidence is high because I know I put in the work. I put in the work. My offensive line is a great offensive line. All five of the starters, even to the backups, they can come in and make a play.”
The offensive line has Humphrey excited about what could be. He rushed for nearly 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns behind a Montana State line he considered to be good, but Humphrey said he believes his new Lobos linemen are the best he has ever had.
“I feel like from tackle to tackle, guard, guard to center, I don’t think I’ve had an offensive line this talented before,” said Humphrey. “I feel like the offensive line, they put in the work, not just in a team setting, they do extra work. That just inspires me too, you know what I’m saying, do my extra work.”
Last season, Humphrey scored the game-winning touchdown against UNM in the Lobos’ season opener. He hopes to be just as effective when UNM starts the season at Michigan on August 30.
