Tulsi Gabbard will resign as U.S. director of national intelligence, becoming the latest member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet to step down. Gabbard confirmed her resignation on X, posting the letter she shared with Trump. In the letter, Gabbard said her husband has been diagnosed with “an extremely rare form of bone cancer.””He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months,” the letter says. “At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.” Gabbard’s letter says her resignation is effective on June 30. She also ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat. When she withdrew from the race, she gave her support to former Vice President Joe Biden. Gabbard is the third woman in Trump’s cabinet to leave her post in the last two months. In April, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer left the administration.
