Phoenix police are investigating the cause of the crash.

PHOENIX — A Valley family is picking up pieces of their home Sunday after a pick-up truck plowed into the house overnight.

Phoenix police told 12News they’re investigating the crash that happened in a neighborhood near 19th Avenue and Broadway Road around 3:30 a.m.

Josue Martinez-Rojo said the crash woke his entire family.

“I was hearing screeches and then I heard a big thump,” Martinez-Rojo said. “It shook the house. It was kind of like a little earthquake.”

Martinez-Rojo said the truck crashed into their bathroom and the baby’s room.

“He was kind of close to hitting the baby. So, we were just freaked out to see if anything happened to her,” Martinez-Rojo said.

The house suffered significant damage, but Martinez-Rojo said he’s feeling lucky his family wasn’t hurt.

“It could have been so much worse,” Martinez-Rojo said. “This could happen to anybody. What a coincidence it happened to us.”

The house is now boarded up.

Phoenix police said the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the incident is unknown as of Sunday evening.
