New Jersey’s genre-defying experimental metal collective Tombs is set to return this fall with the release of their highly anticipated new album, Feral Darkness, arriving October 17 via Redefining Darkness Records. The band has also unleashed the album’s title track, which is now streaming and offers fans a first glimpse into their most haunting and expansive material yet.
With Feral Darkness, Tombs not only emerge under a new label but also unveil a refreshed sound that leans even deeper into their shadowy aesthetic. While their signature black metal aggression remains intact, the new record explores a darker gothic and death rock atmosphere, weaving in elements of post-punk minimalism and melodic introspection for a transformative listening experience.
Frontman and Tombs founder Mike Hill describes the album as a culmination of the band’s evolving sonic journey: “On Feral Darkness we are going deeper into the abyss, adding layer of expression that we’ve been working on over the last decade. The new album is the closest we have come to date with realizing our journey into the darker aspects of the cosmos with a healthy dose of personal introspection.”
Feral Darkness features 10 tracks of searing emotional depth and sonic density, including the lead single and title track “Feral Darkness,” which is now available to stream. The full album clocks in at just over 50 minutes and includes standout cuts like “Glass Eyes / Ghoul,” “Granite Sky,” and the epic “Nightland,” featuring guest vocals from Sera Timms (Black Mare, Black Math Horsemen, Ides of Gemini).
The album was recorded and mixed by Justin Spaeth, mastered by Andreas Rosczyk, and features cover artwork by visual artist Seldon Hunt. Pre-orders for Feral Darkness are available now via Bandcamp and the Redefining Darkness store.
