
The first of four defendants in the Young Park mass shooting has been found guilty on three counts of first-degree murder.A jury in Las Cruces found Tomas Rivas guilty for his role in the shooting. Three people were killed, and 15 people were wounded in the March 2025 incident that occurred during an unsanctioned car show at Young Park.In a statement, Dona Ana County District Attorney Fernando Macias said:”Today we affirmed that in Dona Ana County, we do not accept violence as inevitable. We choose to define ourselves not by the tragedy we have endured, but by the safety and peace we are determined to build.”Three other defendants will go on trial soon. Nathan Rivas will have his trial begin on Thursday. The trial for Gustavo Dominguez is set for March 4.
