TIM LAMBESIS Won’t Go Away, AS I LAY DYING Plotting New Album

Date:

Metalcore veterans As I Lay Dying are preparing to lock in on their ninth studio album. The band, led by the ever-controversial Tim Lambesis, is currently navigating a run through Russia, which will conclude with a final show in Israel later this month. So if you’ve been looking for one of the most loaded leads in metal media circa 2026, there it is.

Bassist and vocalist Chris Clancy shared with Egor Erushin that the new album is already well underway. “We’ve got all the songs ready. We’ve got way more songs than we need, and we’ve been whittling through ’em. So we’re gonna sit down while we’re on the road, actually, and kind of do some more development to the songs. And when we get back [home after the tour], we’re gonna really start recording it,” Clancy explained.

The lineup, which underwent a second mass exodus of members in 2024 and was rebuilt in 2025, is reportedly making the most of their time on the road. “So we were gonna start recording it in February, but we thought, well, as we’re all together, we can kind of develop ideas together as a group and go from there. So it’s gonna be a busy tour, for many reasons. But we’ve got a lot of hours when we’re traveling,” Clancy added.

Lambesis emphasized the band’s commitment to the upcoming release. “I will say this – as soon as we get home from this tour, it’s our highest priority to focus on that. We cleared everything up so that this is entirely the focus after this,” he said.

As I Lay Dying is currently Lambesis alongside guitarists Bill Hudson (NorthTale) and Don Vedda, bassist and vocalist Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within), and drummer Tim Yeung (ex-Morbid Angel). I think the real question here is what markets are going to care about a new As I Lay Dying record in 2026, considering it’s Lambesis and then literally nobody that’s ever been in the band before… and y’know, Lambesis‘ history.
