Thomas Rhett’s Grandma Facetimed Ella Langley

Date:

Thomas Rhett was hanging out recently with his grandmother and she had a question that he could not answer, no matter how hard he tried.

That question was about the lyrics in the first verse of Ella Langley‘s “Choosin’ Texas.” So instead of saying he didn’t know, he decided to just Facetime Langley on the spot to ask.

Langley answered the Facetime call from backstage at the Eric Church concert that she was about to open for.

What Question Did Thomas Rhett’s Grandmother Have for Ella Langley?

Thomas Rhett was a guest on the Country Countdown USA where he detailed the adorable situation.

“I was at my mom’s house last week. My grandmother is a huge Ella fan. She asked me what Ella meant by a line in “Choosin’ Texas.” I said, ‘Let’s Facetime her and ask her.'”

Rhett continued, “I told her my grandma has a question. Ella was so gracious to walk my grandma through the opening verse of “Choosin’ Texas.”

Just the fact that Langley’s No. 1 song “Choosin’ Texas” has reached grandparent status, meaning it has officially infiltrated the elderly group, shows just how popular and catchy the earworm of a song actually is.

I feel like country artists have conversations like this all the time with one another behind the scenes.

As a country music interviewer, I talk to all of them frequently and usually we get to talking about group texts conversations that they are in with other country artists and they are always fun and frequent.

It just goes to show you that even though they somewhat are competing in the same space, they realize that there is room for everyone who’s talented to thrive and succeed.

Ronnie Dunn, from Brooks and Dunn, and Garth Brooks once told me in an interview though that back in the day they would all be friends. But behind the scenes, they told their people, “Get me a faster horse,” to be able to keep up with the competition.

Let’s take a walk back into time and relive some of our greatest country memories from the 90s.
