What does it mean to actually live like you were dying?
That is the question Thomas Rhett dove into headfirst on the Human School by Miles Adcox podcast recently, and his answer might just change your perspective on life.
Rhett said, “Like the Tim McGraw song…what does it actually mean to live like you were dying?”
He continued, “You read so many stories of people that made billions and billions of dollars and then they get diagnosed with cancer or ALS and all of a sudden, their perspective is like, ‘Gosh, I don’t have a lot of time.'”
Thomas Rhett’s Perspective on Life and Success
Rhett breaks down McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” into layman’s terms for us all.

“If I were to live every single day like I’m dying, what are the things that you’re not thinking about anymore? Is the one thing on your brain your 401k if you knew you were gonna die tomorrow?”
When you think about living like you were dying truly, he’s right; the things that we think matter to us the most wouldn’t even matter at all. That in itself should help change your mentality on life, success and finding a happy middle ground.
