For the first time in over a decade, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza are returning to the stage. The Murfreesboro, TN mathcore veterans will play their first show since 2011 on October 5, 2025, headlining the final night of this year’s Furnace Fest in Birmingham, AL.
A newly released video has given fans a glimpse of the reunion lineup. Returning members include vocalist Jesse “Danza” Freeland, guitarists Layne Meylain and Josh Travis (also of Emmure and Glass Cloud fame), bassist Mike Butler, and drummer Mason Crooks. The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza have also added a second guitarist named Eric for this comeback performance.
Formed in 2004, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza became cult heroes in the mathcore and technical metal scenes thanks to their unhinged time signatures, crushing breakdowns, and absurdist humor. Their final album, Danza IV: The Alpha – The Omega, was released in 2012 to critical acclaim but came after the band had already announced their breakup in 2011.
The decision to end the band came amid grueling touring schedules, lineup changes, and members pursuing other projects. Josh Travis, in particular, went on to join Glass Cloud and later Emmure, while Freeland stepped away from music entirely for a time.
After Furnace Fest’s revival in 2021, Danza were among the most requested acts to return, but the band remained silent — until now.
While The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza haven’t confirmed any additional dates beyond Furnace Fest, the decision to fully reunite with core members and rehearse extensively has fans wondering if this could be more than a one-off. For now, Furnace Fest attendees are set to witness the long‑awaited return of one of mathcore’s most explosive live acts.
