Belphegor – “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus”
Belphegor – the unrelenting force of diabolical blackened death metal – returns with a blazing new single: “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus.” Forged in chaos and crowned in blasphemy, the track marks a savage invocation of what is yet to come.
This release is their first under a new deal with Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), forming a strong alliance between one of extreme metal’s most revered acts and one of the scene’s most ambitious labels. Helmuth, co-founder and creative force behind the band, reflects on his long-standing relationship with RPM’s Gerardo Martinez, which dates back to 2006 when Belphegor first came to North America.
Helmuth describes the track as “a symbiosis of diabolical Black Death Metal, a glorification of the Devil, a hypnotic anthem of passion, fire, and iron discipline,” representing the absolute freedom to walk one’s own path.
Cage Fight – “IHYG (I Hate Your Guts)”
Metal band Cage Fight unleash “IHYG (I Hate Your Guts),” a deeply personal track for frontwoman Rachel Aspe, who drew from a traumatic life event that crushed her confidence but ultimately made her stronger. The song marks the first time she has written lyrics herself, and the accompanying music video visualizes this emotional journey.
“‘IHYG’ is a response to a deeply traumatic experience that had a life changing impact on me,” said Aspe. “It crushed my confidence and self-worth which spiralled me to rock bottom, but I’ve become stronger and more resilient than ever. This experience inspired me to write lyrics for the first time, resulting in this song. The video tells this story.”
The powerful music video was directed by Shaun Hodson (Loki Films), capturing the raw energy and emotion of the track.
Demon Hunter – “The Pain In Me Is Gone”
Metalcore veterans Demon Hunter recently announced their twelfth studio album, There Was A Light Here, due September 12, 2025, via their own Weapons MFG label. The record follows 2022’s Exile, carrying a deeply personal theme in tribute to frontman Ryan Clark‘s late mother, blending love, loss, and the balance between light and darkness.
The 12-track album features a mix of intensity and melody, produced by Clark and guitarist Jeremiah Scott, with mixing/mastering by Zeuss, except for the title track mixed by Eric Stenman. Ahead of release, Demon Hunter has shared singles including “I’m Done,” “Light Bends,” and “Sorrow Light The Way,” the latter earning a spot in YouTube Music’s Top 50 Metal Videos. And now we’ve got “The Pain In Me Is Gone”, which is just as heartbreaking.
Great American Ghost – “Hole In The Earth” (Deftones cover)
Boston-based metalcore group Great American Ghost delivers a crushing cover of Deftones‘ “Hole In The Earth,” originally released in 2006 on Saturday Night Wrist. Engineered by GRAMMY-winning producer Will Putney and Steve Seid, the track retains the song’s ethereal heaviness while adding Great American Ghost‘s own intensity.
The music video, directed by Chris Klumpp (LIMBS), was filmed at Ghost Hit Recording in West Springfield, MA, capturing the raw, live feel of the performance.
Ho99o9 – “Incline”
Experimental hip-hop/metal/punk hybrid Ho99o9 returns with “Incline,” featuring Nova Twins, Pink Siifu, and Yung Skrrt. Produced by Dave Sitek, the politically and emotionally charged track is part of their upcoming album Tomorrow We Escape, due September 9.
The band blends industrial, punk, hardcore, and electronic elements for a unique sonic experience, while lyrically focusing on personal struggle and resilience. This follows their previous single “Upside Down,” continuing their genre-defying trajectory. The accompanying video combines political commentary with striking fashion visuals, making for a pretty intense time.
Wino – “New Terms”
Doom metal icon Scott “Wino” Weinrich strips his sound back to the essentials with “New Terms,” from his upcoming album Create Or Die, out October 24 via Ripple Music. Initially conceived as an acoustic song, it evolved into a fuller arrangement featuring drums and electric guitar.
The track features Irish bodhrán drum and banjo performed by members of We Banjo Three, giving it a unique folk-metal twist. Wino credits this collaboration to producer Frank Marchand’s connection with the Irish folk group. A deeply personal work, Wino describes the album as a mix of old and new ideas, all tied together by his life-long creed: “create or die.”
Wretched – “Decay”
Charlotte, NC’s Wretched return with Decay, their long-awaited fifth album due October 17 via Metal Blade Records. A prequel to their 2010 release Beyond The Gate, the concept album explores existentialism, fantasy, and personal tragedy.
Musically, Decay combines pristine production with raw, live-sounding performances, pushing their blend of progressive death metal to new heights. Lyrically, the title track tells the story of Malus, a character trapped between life and death, seeking to reclaim his mortal body from an ancient necromancer.
“We’ve had a lot of time to grow and reflect in the time between our last album and Decay,” said drummer Marshall Wieczorek. “Wretched is doing what Wretched always does, and that’s exploring our environment and leaving room for ourselves to try different things. To sum things up, the new album is dynamic. We go here, we go there, we go everywhere. There is no shortage of groove, heaviness, speed, melodicism, prettiness, and sadness.”
