Season 4 of Farmer Wants a Wife debuts on Fox on Tuesday night (April 21), and it will take viewers on an unexpected ride.
Brett Maverick (35), Braden Pridemore (26), and Sean Cavanaugh (22) start their journeys to find love, and have even been publicly teasing that their season results in all of them finding it.
Ahead of the show premiere, the three bachelors talked to Taste of Country, giving us all the behind-the-scenes insight.

What was it like kissing on camera?
“At the time, I was already pretty used to the cameras,” Maverick begins.
“You get to a point where you don’t even think about them being there anymore. For me, the first time I kissed on camera, really the only thing I was thinking was, ‘I hope this doesn’t look weird on camera.’ Other than that, it was fine as I was comfortable with everybody.”
Cavanaugh’s experience was a little different.
“It was weird having an intimate moment with someone, and then you would look over your shoulder and there was a guy sitting there with a camera zooming in on your face,” Cavanaugh said.
“That aspect of it was kind of strange, but I think as the season progressed, you get more used to it!”
Pridemore also said the filming aspect was tough to get used to.
“Anything you do on camera coming from our background is kind of weird, and I don’t think you ever get used to it,” Pridemore adds. “You kind of have to block it out, and forget that they’re there, which is hard to do.”
What do you wish people knew about you more?
Cavanaugh said he hopes people see his maturity.
“I’m the youngest one of the group,” Cavanaugh begins.
“My age differential, people probably have a lot of judgement behind that. I’m a little bit more mature than a typical 22 or 23 year old, and I think for me and my situation, I was ready to settle down, and I think a lot of people my age aren’t.”
Meanwhile, Maverick wants people to know he has a fun, relaxed side.
“I think this comes across a lot, especially people I don’t know very well, but I can be pretty stoic,” Maverick says. “I can be pretty reserved around people I don’t know, but once I’m comfortable with and get to know people, I’m just an idiot. It takes a minute to get to that point and see that, but it can come off as, ‘He doesn’t talk.’”
Pridemore says he’s an open book.
“I wear my emotions on my sleeve,” Pridemore shared. “I am an open book. I like to say I’m a really bad poker player, I don’t hide stuff well…what I’m thinking or what I’m feeling. I think you see that a lot on the show. You’ll be able to tell just by my face what I’m thinking.”
How was it walking in to meet your ladies, with the other farmers’ women standing there?
“When you walk into the room, there are like 10 cameras and everybody staring,” Maverick explains.
“Then when you get to where you’re meeting the girls for the first time, we were given a list of girls and you get to pick your top 20. You don’t know which ones are going to be showing up, you’re looking around going, ‘Which table is mine?’ That was the nerve-racking part.”
Marverick jokingly shares that any farmer who goes on next season, don’t wear new boots. The ground was wet, and as the farmer mentioned on camera, you can see him catch his step as he almost falls.
Once your final lady was chosen, what did you do?
“I took her to Santa Barbara for a weekend getaway,” Cavanaugh shares. “I then took her home for Thanksgiving with my family.”
Farmer Brett did something similar.
“We ended the week of Thanksgiving, it was two days later,” Maverick chimes in. “I did something similar. We just stayed at my parents’ house in my hometown and just did nothing for three days. We just hung out and actually got to enjoy each other’s company.”
“Once you get that time off camera, you don’t have to worry about anything,” Pridemore expresses. “We just sat around. It just feels normal, you are just normally dating at that point and it’s crazy because we met on a TV show. It’s so crazy to think about now.”
