SATURDAY IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE THE HOTTEST DAY FOR MOST OF US NEXT WEEK. THERE’S A SLIGHT TEMPERATURE DIP COMING. WE DO NOT SEE A CHANCE OF RAIN OR SNOW COMING WITH THAT, THOUGH IN THE SHORT TERM HERE, HIGH PRESSURE AND THE HEAT DOME BUILDING IN. SO TODAY’S HIGHS THEY’LL BE WELL ABOVE WHERE WE TOPPED OUT YESTERDAY AND TEMPERATURES WILL JUST CONTINUE TO SOAR AS THIS UPPER HIGH DOES MOVE IN. AND THESE NUMBERS WILL COME WITH A SUNNY OR MOSTLY SUNNY SKY NOW WINDS MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE PAST COUPLE OF AFTERNOONS. WE’RE JUST SLIGHTLY BREEZY. THESE ARE WIND GUSTS THIS AFTERNOON. IT’S UPPER 40S, LOWER 50S, NICE AND MILD MORNING. AND THEN TOMORROW AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WARMER THAN TODAY. A LOT OF THESE NUMBERS WILL BE BREAKING ALL TIME MARCH WARM TEMPERATURE RECORDS. WE’RE IN THE LOWER 80S. TAOS SANTA FE NEAR 90 FOR ALBUQUERQUE, LOWER 90S AROUND ROSWELL AND CARLSBAD. AND TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER DAY WHERE THE BREEZE IS COMING LIGHT, MAYBE EVEN A LITTLE LIGHTER THAN TODAY. FRIDAY STILL WARMER THAN THURSDAY. THE TEMPERATURE TREND IS UP DAY BY DAY, RIGHT ON INTO SATURDAY. WE’RE KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF 90 IN ALBUQUERQUE. AND LOOK AT THOSE MIDDLE AND UPPER 90S AROUND ROSWELL AND CARLSBAD. THESE NUMBERS ARE LIKE 25 TO ALMOST 30 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THE TIME OF YEAR. FRIDAY AND ANOTHER DAY WITH A PRETTY FRIENDLY WIND GUSTS. WE’LL GET RIGHT TO IT HERE IN NORTHWEST NEW MEXICO FOUR CORNERS AREA. HOW ABOUT HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 70S TO NEAR 80 DEGREES? LOOK AT CORTEZ AT 76. IN DURANGO AT 79 TODAY. THAT IS REAL WARM. 83 AWAITS TOMORROW. HOW ABOUT 86? FRIDAY. WARMEST DAY IS SATURDAY. UP AT 87. WE DROP INTO THE LOWER 80S SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY. THOSE ARE STILL LIKELY GOING TO BE RECORD BREAKERS IN THE AREA THOUGH. HERE’S SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO SILVER CITY AT 81. WE’RE REAL CLOSE TO 90 OFF THE MOUNTAINS. WE’RE GOING TO JUMP ANOTHER FIVE DEGREES TOMORROW, AND WE’RE GOOD FOR A FEW MORE FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND THEN WE DROP WELL INTO THE MID 80S, SUNDAY INTO HIGHS RIGHT AROUND 80 DEGREES ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY. Early morning temperatures are not nearly as cold as the past couple days, most of us have held in the 40s and 50s, so it’s just a light extra layer to get the day started. A very quick morning warm up will play out and afternoon temperatures will climb several degrees above yesterday’s numbers, resulting in record-breaking or record-tying highs around most of the state. The 70s and 80s that are expected are about 20 degrees above mid-March averages! In addition to the warmth, we also expect lighter afternoon breezes today with breezes staying relatively light for the next several afternoons. It looks even warmer over the next couple days, Thursday’s highs will likely break all-time March warm temperature records around most of the state – and if we don’t do that on Thursday, then we probably will on Friday. Friday and then Saturday will be the warmest/hottest days of this stretch with unprecedented numbers for mid-late March way into the 80s and 90s, which is a full 20 to even 30 degrees above average! There will be a cold front moving through on Sunday that will drop temperatures a bit Sunday and even more for Monday, most notably in eastern New Mexico. Still though, we could see record highs on those days around central and western New Mexico, and then Tuesday all areas see temperatures climb again and likely challenge and break records. It does look like we are probably in for some bouts of windier conditions with this front later Sunday and through Monday. We do not see a chance of rain and mountain snow coming through at least the middle of next week.
