1422 ET – Disney is trying to leverage some of its news coverage as a public service in the midst of its contract dispute with Google’s YouTube TV, days after its channels went dark on the platform. Disney asked YouTube TV to restore ABC for Election Day so its subscribers can access information they rely on, a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “We believe in putting the public interest first and hope YouTube TV will take this small step for their customers while we continue to work toward a fair agreement,” the spokesperson said. YouTube TV stopped carrying ESPN, ABC and other Disney-owned networks last week after the two sides failed to come to terms on a new distribution agreement. The two companies have been at odds over the fees Disney is seeking from YouTube TV to carry its channels. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
