0547 ET – Shares of Google owner Alphabet rise premarket after the tech giant posted better-than-expected third-quarter results and raised estimates for capital expenditure this year. Alphabet stock closed 2.7% higher at $274.57 Wednesday ahead of results. Shares are up 7.5% at $295.08 Thursday premarket. The company hiked its estimates for capital expenditures this year to a range of $91 billion to $93 billion, up from $52.5 billion in 2024. Third-quarter revenue increased 16% on year to $102.35 billion, above a FactSet forecast of almost $100 billion. Net income rose to $34.98 billion from $26.30 billion, also above a FactSet estimate of $27.26 billion. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
