Taylor Swift sets record for most wins at MTV Video Music Awards
Taylor Swift set a new MTV Video Music Awards record with her 31st victory, becoming the inaugural Artist Director Honors award winner Sunday night. She also debuted the video for one of her new songs, “Patient Zero,” which stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, during Sunday’s show.

Johnson presented the Artist Director Honors award to Swift on stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
On Friday, Swift released “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” which included four new songs, including “Patient Zero.”
According to MTV, the new Artist Director Honors award honors artists for their work behind the camera to push creative boundaries and use advanced storytelling.
Swift first appeared at the VMAs in 2008. She has received 85 total nominations over the years.
Previously, she was tied with Beyoncé for the title, with 30 VMAs each.
“I got to start making music videos and being a part of music videos 20 years ago,” Swift said in her speech, adding that she’s been involved in making roughly 60 music videos, 18 of which she wrote and directed.
“You, the fans, make it so much fun,” she said.
She also took home the top prize of the night — video of the year — for “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Swift dedicated that award to the “ultimate showgirl,” the late Dolly Parton.
