The 2025 National Finals Breakaway Roping (NFBR) concluded in dramatic fashion, crowning Taylor Munsell as the 2025 World Champion Breakaway Roper after a thrilling 10-round showdown featuring the sport’s top athletes.
Held in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the Cowtown Coliseum became the stage for breakaway roping history as the gold buckle came down to the final calf in Round 10. With world titles and records on the line, athletes delivered fast, high-stakes runs before a sold-out house.
When the Texas dust settled, it was Munsell — who entered the NFBR leading the world standings — who secured her first career gold buckle. Munsell, who started her NFBR on a slow note with a pair of no-times, surged on the second day of competition. Winning go-rounds in Rounds 6 and 10, the Oklahoma cowgirl proved her dominance and mental strength in the high-pressure scenario. Those victories, combined with her regular-season dominance, sealed the world championship.
Munsell capped the 2025 season in record-breaking fashion, earning $209,021 — the highest year-end earnings total in breakaway roping history.
Rylee George claimed the 2025 NFBR Average title after roping all 10 calves in a combined time of 29.0 seconds. Her performance set a new NFBR aggregate record and earned her $16,913.63, making her the only competitor to rope all ten calves to claim the coveted average title in a tightly contested race.
The final day of competition began with Round 6, where Munsell and Beau Peterson tied for the round win with matching 2.1-second runs. The result added to Peterson’s strong NFBR showing and pushed Munsell past the $200,000 earnings mark during the Finals.
Joey Williams captured the Round 7 victory, earning a $6,197 payday and a celebratory victory lap.
Aspen Miller notched her first go-round win of the 2025 NFBR in Round 8 with a blazing 1.9-second run. The performance earned her the go-round buckle and made her the first competitor of the Finals to break the 2.0-second barrier.
Round 9 set the stage for the championship finale, with Suzanne Williams and Beau Peterson tying for the win at 2.0 seconds. The victory marked Peterson’s third go-round win of the NFBR and the first for Williams, who found early success in her NFBR debut.
The Finals concluded with an electrifying Round 10, featuring fast times and world-title implications. Munsell, Josie Conner and Joey Williams shared the final go-round win with matching 2.0-second runs, bringing the 2025 NFBR to a dramatic close.
