Suspect dead after shooting with New Mexico State Police during “Cops” film crew ridealong

The shooting occurred Saturday in the International District. No officers were injured.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

One person has died after a shooting incident involving New Mexico State Police on Saturday.

A spokesperson for State Police confirmed that a film crew from the television show “COPS” was on a ridealong when the shooting happened.

According to State Police, the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Cochiti Road Southeast and California Street Southeast.

Police say the officer involved in the shooting was not injured. The suspect is dead, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
