Suspect dead after shooting outside Chili's in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – A suspect is dead after a shooting outside a Chili’s restaurant Thursday night, Oct. 9, in Las Cruces, according to a spokesperson with the Las Cruces Police Department.

The spokesperson said the shooting happened at around 6 p.m. at the parking lot of a Chili’s restaurant at 426 S Telshor. According to LCPD, police were sent to reports of an aggressive man threatening people at the restaurant.

Police said they made contact with the man, 50-year-old Philip Adrian Mullin, in the parking lot. The officer believed he was being threatened and fired, hitting Mullin. Mullin died on scene.

The officer was not injured.

The shooting is under investigation.
