Still hot on Sunday with scattered showers and storms possible
Temperatures trend closer to average for a few days.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a lot of sunshine through midday and afternoon highs return closer to average.
We’ll top out right around 90 degrees in Albuquerque, 88 in Santa Fe with scattered showers and storms by the afternoon and into the evening.
While some storms linger on Sunday night, clouds will gradually clear and you can expect a dry start on Monday.
There’s a monsoon high over the state which will shift west on Sunday and Monday. We are likely to experience numerous scattered storms moving tracking northeast into portions of the middle Rio Grande Valley and north-central New Mexico.
This could bring storms and gusty winds between Socorro, Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Flash flooding is possible as multiple storms push through. In contrast, Eastern New Mexico stays hot and dry into Monday.
Looking ahead to the Burning of Zozobra at Fort Marcy Park on Friday, August 4, it will be mostly sunny and hot. Temperatures fall out of the lower 90s and into the upper 80s by 6 p.m.
