For over 50 years, Steve Wariner has been actively playing music for audiences, but there’s another side of his creativity that many fans may not know about.
Wariner, who has four Grammy Awards under his belt is now putting his artwork on display in a new exhibit called The Flip Side: Paintings by Steve Wariner.

At the exibit you will be able to freely walk around and check out all of the 60 paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media that Wariner created over the last 30-plus years.

Wariner’s The Flip Side: Paintings By Steve Wariner is happening at the Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center, which is in Henderson, Tenn.
The exhibit is currently open and will be until July, 26.
Steve Wariner’s Love For Painting
I spoke to Wariner on Taste of Country Nights about his love for painting and how he has been painting basically every single day of his life since he was a teenager.

“In the mornings, even if its for a couple of hours I’ll go out to the pool house while I have coffee in the morning, just getting going and you feel good and have a cup.”

I expected him to tell me that he painted for a few minutes each day, but to dedicate the hours everyday to painting, even while having a widely successful music career, is something.

Wariner’s two worlds even came together once: He says a song that he helped write inspired a painting that he did.
“I have a painting, in fact it sold the other day, I was out at the gallery meeting with some people. It’s a large abstract called “The Ocean’s A Little Bit Bigger Tonight.”

I wrote the song “Two Teardrops.’ That was a hit I wrote with Bill Anderson,” he recounts. “The first line of the chorus is ‘The ocean’s a little bit bigger tonight.” So the two kind of crashed right there.”
