State police standoff at Farmington home

New Mexico State Police are assisting local law enforcement with a home standoff in Farmington.Officers with the state Department of Corrections attempted a knock-and-talk at a home, according to state police. This led to officers entering and finding Christopher Velasquez, 36, on a bed and armed with what appeared to be a firearm. Law enforcement then exited the home and requested state police assistance.The response started on County Road 3961 sometime on Tuesday, April 7. Immediate neighbors were evacuated amid the response. This led to officers entering and finding Christopher Velasquez, 36, on a bed and armed with what appeared to be a firearm. Law enforcement then exited the home and requested state police assistance.
