South Korea’s military says North Korea fired projectile toward its eastern waters

Date:

SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea’s military says North Korea has fired at least one projectile toward its eastern waters.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff on Saturday did not immediately say whether the weapon was a ballistic missile or another type of system.

The test came amid heightened tensions between the countries following land mine blasts that injured three South Korean soldiers last month. South Korea and the U.S.-led U.N. Command have said the blasts were caused by North Korean mines.
