In collaboration with Gibson Guitars, a handful of developers that were involved in the creation and production of the Guitar Hero franchise have banded together with RedOctane Games – no pun actually intended, but let’s roll with it – to create a brand new “rhythm-action game” that embodies aspects of the original Guitar Hero series in a more personalised RPG setting.
The official video game trailer from Stage Tour, RedOctane Games, Gibson Guitar, and Kramer Guitars this past week was soundtracked by Static X, and the caption of the trailer explains a bit more of what you can expect from the forthcoming game.
“Stage Tour is a rhythm-action game designed to blend familiar and accessible note-highway gameplay with new and exciting modern twists. Stage Tour is poised to rekindle the flame of plastic-instrument rhythm gaming with numerous new features and gamemodes, dozens of bandmates and instruments to fit your unique style, a deep competitive spine, and an extensive roadmap of seasonal content and live events.
“BUILD YOUR BAND: Chase the top score by unlocking unique bandmates, each with their own look, attitude, and stage presence. Choose from multiple variants to match your band’s personality, assign members to Lead, Groove, Drums, or Vocals.

There is no exact date for the release of ‘Stage Tour,’ but it is set to be released sometime this year and the inclusion of the Static X song is pretty promising. You can sign-up to be notified of the release date and add the game to your wishlist on Steam here.
