Decibel Books have announced Sodom: The Official Authorized Biography, the long-awaited, fully sanctioned life story of German thrash legends Sodom – now finally translated into English for the first time.
Clocking in at over 300 pages, this heavyweight hardcover promises to be the most comprehensive document of the band’s legacy to date. Drawing on interviews with nearly every past and present member – alongside key figures from the wider German thrash scene – the book digs deep into the chaos, grit and evolution of one of metal’s most uncompromising acts.
The biography is also stacked with over 200 rare and previously unreleased photos, offering fans a visual deep dive into the band’s four-decade history. For those eager to get a taste, an exclusive excerpt is already available online, rewinding all the way back to 1984 and the recording of the band’s feral breakthrough, In the Sign of Evil.
Fans can pre-order the book now, with copies expected to ship in late May to early June.
A description of the books reads as follows: “Decibel Books proudly presents Sodom: The Official Authorized Biography, the fully authorized biography of the German thrash legends Sodom, finally painstakingly translated into English!
“With Sodom: The Official Authorized Biography, Dr. Holger Schmenk visits the deepest basement rehearsal rooms and scours the roughest pubs to unearth the unfiltered truth about Tom Angelripper and his ever-changing lineup of bandmates.
“From their wild early days of the Witching Metal demo to their international breakthrough with Agent Orange, and right up to the present day – Schmenk tells the unvarnished story of a thrash metal legend that has gone through more guitarists than other bands have gone through amplifiers.”
