Shiprock man sentenced for bid-rigging scheme

Date:

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A Shiprock man will spend five years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges in a bid-rigging scheme. William Badoni, 62, worked with an employee of Kinteel Residential Campus, Inc. to receive confidential information about construction projects and the bidding process. That information helped ensure his company received contracts.

He also created false or fake bids from other companies to get around KRCI’s contracting policies. He also admitted to paying kickbacks and working to make sure he could hide fraudulently obtained funds.

Officials said in total, the bids brought in $1.5 million for Badoni’s company from 2016 to 2019.
