Shelter-in-place lifted in San Juan County after investigation

Several buildings in Aztec have reopened following a shelter-in-place due to police activity near a complex of San Juan County buildings. According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the district court building in Aztec for a report of an individual in crisis who had barricaded themself inside of a vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle located in the parking lot of the district court. Deputies and police officers from surrounding agencies were able to secure the area while crisis negotiators responded to the scene. The sheriff’s office says the individual then experienced a medical emergency during the incident and was taken to a medical facility for treatment. No further information was released by officials.
