A Wisconsin bride turned her sheepadoodle into a wedding videographer, and the resulting GoPro video ended up stealing the show on social media.
Emily Cowles, a Door County, Wisconsin, native, said she and her husband chose to have their wedding there because it feels like “heaven” to her.
“Door County is just like heaven. It’s my happy place. So, we go back frequently. And yeah, that’s where we wanted to get married,” she told WBAY‘s Grace Johnson.
She said she also wanted their dog, Swayze, to be part of the day because he is “goofy,” “a great snuggler,” and a “bright light” to everyone who meets him.
On Aug. 22, the couple strapped a GoPro onto Swayze so he could film the celebration from a dog’s-eye view.
Cowles said the video’s popularity grew quickly, with shares rising online and major outlets reaching out.
And while the family has had fun seeing Swayze get all the attention, the bride says that for her, the viral fame isn’t the best part of the video.
She said one of her favorite moments involved Swayze spending time with her 91-year-old grandmother.
“He like took refuge in spending time with her for like 20 minutes. It was so sweet. And you can just hear him talk or her talking to him. And it was just so, so sweet to watch back,” she said.
Cowles said she and her husband plan to look back on the footage for years, especially as time passes.
“There’s going to be a day when not all those people are going to be around. And especially Swayze. Um, so we’re going to be able to look back, and it’s just going to bring a smile to our face for the rest of our lives.”
And don’t worry, Swayze hasn’t changed because of the fame.
“He’s so humble. We’re trying not to let it go to his head,” Cowles joked.
