See Ashley McBryde, Noah Reid Poke Fun at Morgan Wallen Chair Throwing

While presenting Single of the Year, the Grammy-winning country singer and Outer Range star spoofed this year’s nominees in hilarious parody song

Nominee Ashley McBryde and actor Noah Reid stole the show while presenting Single of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards. The pair performed parodies of this year’s nominees while presenting the award.

Reid has sung a bit on both Outer Range and, most memorably, on Schitt’s Creek, which McBryde complimented at the beginning of their time on stage. Reid said he was nervous presenting at the show, so McBryde pulled out a ukulele and launched into a version of Parker McCollum’s “Burn It Down,” this time about Reid being new in town. McBryde’s take on Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” had her suggesting some Nashville hot spots (even if they’re in Texas tonight).

The pair got more topical when Reid covered Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” referencing his chair-throwing incident at Eric Church’s Nashville bar Chief’s. “You should smile in the mugshot,” McBryde joked after, before pointing out how all the Single nominees are “guys, again” for her version of Jordan Davis’s”Next Thing You Know.” They rounded out the nominees making fun of the many beards the country guys have been sporting with Reid’s parody of Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor” — rendered here as “Need a Razor.”

McBryde was nominated for Female Artist of the Year (Lainey Wilson ultimately won). She has previously taken home three ACM Awards, winning New Female Artist of the Year in 2019. Reid has released a few albums of his own, most recently 2022’s Adjustments. While on Schitt’s Creek, his cover of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best,” which his character Patrick performed on the show, went viral. The second season of Outer Range premiered on Amazon Prime this week.
