Scattered Showers and Storms With Areas of Heavy Rain.

Flash Flood and Severe Thunderstorm Risk Throughout The State.

MINUTES FROM THE TOP OF THE HOUR. WELCOME BACK, WENDY. AND THEN BETTER RAIN CHANCES FOR THIS AFTERNOON. FLASH FLOODS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND MAINLY HOT AND DRY AS WE HEAD INTO THE NEW WORKWEEK. SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON IN THE 80S AND 90S. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHEAST AND THEN CENTRAL NORTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE. WE’LL START TO SEE SOME OF THAT RAIN AS WELL FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA. LOOKS LIKE AROUND 4:00. WE’LL START TO SEE THOSE SHOWERS DEVELOP. AND THEN THESE LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS PUSH OFF TOWARDS SOUTH CENTRAL NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE. IN THE EARLY EVENING, YOU CAN SEE THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK IN YELLOW HERE ACROSS SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL. SO HEAVY RAINFALL CAN PRODUCE SOME FLASH FLOODS. WE’RE ALREADY SEEING THAT DOWN OVER TOWARDS LAKE COUNTY. WE’RE SEEING A MARGINAL RISK FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DO MOVE THROUGH. AND THEN THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER AS WELL FOR SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE, DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL POSSIBLE. AGAIN, REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLASH FLOOD WATCHES AND WARNINGS. FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE AREA, SO HAVE A PLAN READY. FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS ACT NOW THAT FLASH FLOODING IS OCCURRING, SO YOU WANT TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY AND NEVER DRIVE OR WALK THROUGH FLOOD WATERS. AS FAR AS THE REST OF THE EVENING GOES, WE ARE STILL GOING TO SEE SPOTTY THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS OUT THERE THAT MAY CARRY THROUGH INTO TOMORROW MORNING. MILD FOR OUR LOWS TONIGHT IN THE 50S AND 60S FOR MONDAY. WE STILL HAVE A RAIN CHANCE ACROSS THE STATE. SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON, BUT YOU CAN SEE MAINLY DRY FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA.
