Santa Fe residents warned to avoid trail due to sinkhole

The city of Santa Fe is advising all residents to avoid the Arroyo de los Chamisos Urban Trail in Santa Fe due to a sinkhole.The city says the sinkhole was caused by a failed culvert and is located on the Arroyo de los Chamisos urban trail behind 3321 Camino Cielo Vista on the south side of the trail.The opening of the sinkhole is approximately 5 feet across, the underlying failure extends roughly 10 feet by 10 feet, and is about 6 feet deep. City staff are actively developing plans for culvert and trail repairs.They advise that, for public safety, the public avoid the affected area until repairs are completed. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
